The volt costs the same as TWO of my cars, more to insure, service and depreciates FAST. Also an overnight charge will cost a fortune here, how many KWh does it use? The battery needs replacing after 3 years and costs more than the car. You can't measure MPG on a generator not connected to the wheels!!! It's a con and a total flop in the UK, only 15 sold so far!!!!
@urbex2007 The Volt may be expensive (2012 model starting at $40,000) but it is a really nice car, at least as nice or nicer than a BMW, Lexus, Audi, or Infinity that cost about the same. Plus it uses so much less gas and the electric drive is a very cool experience.
Gas costs: buy gas about once a month, about $25 worth of premium each fillup.
Electric cost: it has raised my electric bill by about $25 a month.

I drive close to an average amount.
