@nishbrown yeah we get it, we all know this is the demo for demonstrating the TERRAGEN 2 render and phisics technology power, wich looks pretty good and realistic, but we dont try to look smart by saying something dumb and unfounded like "worst CG bla bla bla".
F22 was actually shown to be better in all aspects (except stealth) than the F35. Really love the F35 but I'm really disappointed that the F22 project is canceled.
By the way...The F-35B (which isn't even doing tests in the "hover box" yet)is having some CRITICAL problems with weight. So, a HUGE difference between the F-35A and the F-35B is that they've had to re-engineer the bomb bay, making it smaller and narrower. It can no longer carry the pair of 2,000lb. JDAMs like it used to, but only a 1,000 version. It's not looking pretty for the aircraft right now. It's not the plane we had all signed up for anymore.
The F-35B is capable of VTOL, they just prefer to STOL instead of vertical take off because it saves more fuel if you are smart enough to think about that. The F-35C is the carrier version that has a carrier hook, the F-35A is the conventional take off and landing version.
The F-35B will be more than capable of conducting a vertical take-off, so long as it is lightly loaded (fuel and/or weapons). The main reason the operators would not do so is that a short take-off is more fuel efficient, less risky and allows a far greater load to be lifted.
Taking off or landing doesn't make any difference. If it can land vertically at a particular weight then it can take-off at the same weight.
That is awesome! I love it. BF-1 is not due to fly til late May 2008 but I really enjoyed the sneek preview! I'll be surprised if it actually uses the VTOL system on the first flight but still, it'll be such a good day!
it can't verticaly take off the lift fan does not produce enough thrust to keep it balanced with the main engine. but it can hover and land verticaly. they decided that they didn't need to take off verticaly so it has to hit 80mph before it can lift off the ground
X35B can manage it, what makes you think F35B can't? It might not get used for the very same reasons Harriers don't generally take off vertically ( fuel burn and the increased risk ) but that does not mean it can't do it. After the time and effort we've put into this aircraft ( yes, I have worked on it, ) I'll be disappointed if it can't.
go to jsf. mil now y do u think the X-35b was VTOL and the F-35b is STOVL. theres a difference u really need to know what ur talkin about before u say what u think. i know plus i know people that work on the F-35 program
i typed "the x-35b and f-35b are the same thing lol. except the f-35b has the short take off verticle landing capability." so im guessing that it didnt work. my bad dude.
X is expirimental and F is for fighter the X's r always different from the F's. the X sure that was the biulding block for the F and the X-35 is not the same as the F-35 there r alot of differences in the inside and some outer features ok.
What a long way we've come! My dad was one of the first non-commercial pilots in the US and I'm sure he would have loved to be in the cockpit. He passed last year at 99!

F22 Project cancelled? I'm pretty sure the F-22 Raptor is used extensively in a few squadrons based in the United States.

You're right on that one. They're still used in a few RONs but no more will be made. =(. best fighter jet ever with a 108-0 kill ratio.

It's not a very convincing CG shot imo. There doesn't seem to be enough distortion through the jet wash.

This is indeed, ALL CG work. The F-35B first flew in June, but won't even attempt VTOL flight until early next year.

real cool the vertical take off and stuff... but i still prefer the F-35A wich has a gun and the F-35B and C don't.
it can be mounted on it though but than it can be seen on radar.

Yeah but the B and C model machine gun carries more ammo.

it can only do a vertical take off empty and very little fuel. the usmc didn't want vertical take off because it wastes to much gas

But they use the Av-8B Harrier II?

Yeah but thats being replaced by the F-35B which is a STOVL and not a VTOL.
