  • i realized in these couple of month that managing time can really make a difference. Anyways if your intersed and your a good presenter maybe you could help me to make these kind of tutorials on how to manage time like a pro... :) see my featured video to know what iam talking about... hoping to hear from you soon. :) best regards, Saleh

  • I love your video.

  • How can I go from being on meds for bipolar (abilify and generic depakote) to NOT?? I'm learning to take better care of myself and eat well; whole and nutrient-rich and eventually I want to be med free...

  • Getting this right is the most important step, very informative.

  • Thank you for letting ppl now about sugar...more people need to know....

  • Vincent! You're the best :-)

  • Dr Bellonzi,

Thanks for your video!..I'm a 58 old woman going through menopause ans since last year I have become addicted to sugar combined with flour!....cakes.I'm 5'3 and 140 pounds.

I started exercising on the eliptical, a month ago and quit all refine sugars. I work out one hour a day 6 days a week and do some other resistance exercise, I have now lost 10 pounds, I was 150 when I started January 1st 2011.

I want to go to 115. May I keep you posted of my success??

  • I have yet to figure out why some people gave it thumbs down. What's there to not like? It's a real doctor giving honest advice. And I really thought it was worth it. What he's saying what happening to me. I was always a bit over weight but my fatty fat fatness has gone through the roof since after high school. And is still sky rocketing. I work a desk job in IT and have a very sedentary life. I really learned from this vid. It was short, to the point and honest. Thanks Doc.

  • check out my vid for a great way to lose weight probably one of the best or just go copy this link /loh10558.eliteweightlosspackageDOTcom

  • actually excess sugar due to resistance is converted by fat cells to fat hence more sugar means you need more fat cells to convert to fat. fat cells program other cells to use fat for fuel only since glucose is not getting in, so you are burning fat even when insullin is high. only adipose cant release fat but you can still burn fat .

if your insul resist your a fat burner. just cant produce glucose well via gluconeogenesis hence hypoglycemia especially at night. liver action as it were.

  • too much exercising makes you hungry but, and at the end of the day you will end up eating more. eat raw food and the weight will fall off you, no exercise needed.

  • 6:50 sec into your vid, you suggest to minimise protein so that your body doesn't use it as fuel. This makes me worry about burning lean muscle which goes against everything fitness stands for. Do you find this to be an issue with your beliefs on fat burning?

  • isn't intense interval training better? I thought with intense training you were burning sugar during a workout and burning fat afterwards, whereas with longer workouts you use fat during a workout , but you use sugar for energy after as the body tries to restore the burnt fat.

  • this guy has watched too much mr. rogers.

  • Thanks for the wake up call here, Nice video made me think way loads I forgot sugar was an energy and even when i knew it was i didnt think it got burned supid me !!!!

  • thank you :D

  • Hi Dr, what are your thoughts on losing weight for someone who is a diabetic? the insulin causes diabetics to gain weight quite easily and very hard to lose. can you shed some light on whether there is a solution ?

  • dang i feel like crap drinking a coke as im typing

  • Whenever I am out hiking or walking, I have very even energy. The only time I have highs and lows is sitting at a desk all day. I have so much more energy when I am moving all day. It seems if this sugar theory were true, wouldn't I get more fatigues when I am on an all day hike than sitting all day?

  • Great!

  • iski maaa ka chodaa bhosad chod........

  • You did very well laying this information out so it is simple to understand.... and it seems like you know people and their REAL habits!

  • Boy this guy is right about most of us who are overweight, highs and lows of blood sugar, like an out of control roller coaster up and down. And then BAM diabetic or pre-diabetic, insulin resistant over sugared, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, mess. Its some scary shit.

  • Hi there, just wanted to say I like your videos and if/when you get some spare time maybe you could view/comment on my videos as well.

    Thanks so much!,

    JH

  • Absolutely right :)

your advice is spot on, if only everyone would think like this. 15 grams of sugar a day is the recommended amount to consume in order to maximise weight loss alongside 120 grams of carbs. High fibre carbs.

  • sleep you talk of sleep i read about the memory foam matresses. does the mattress is help at all?

  • thanks man thats what im bout to do

  • So its better to work out while starving right? So your body will learn to burn the fat and use that as fuel?

  • i have the problem of medication weight. I take a med that helps you eat when you can't. Ive noticed I gain a good bit of weight from this too. How hard is it to take off this weight?

  • This is so true. I've recently let sugar creep back into my diet and sure enough the weight has started going back in the wrong direction again! So hard to not snack on sugary things when your feeling low though, because it's a tempting shortcut to masking your pain.

  • this is great!

    cheers,

    erin

  • I have a problem giving up chocolate. Call me a "choco-holic" lol. I think once I give that up, I'll be okay.

  • I had the same problem, just don't take it home and try to avoid any place where they sell it, in a matter of a month you will be recovered.

  • I have a coffee with sugar during my mid morning break, need to cut that out! I usually feel ok in the mornings and a bit grumpy and tired by late evening.. thought this was maybe a serotonin issue as this is replaced during sleep is it not?

  • thanks a lot - increadibly motivating! now I know what was wrong with me! I tried it for 3 days now - it really works!

  • does anyone know what the zoe means in zoe sophia? i know that sophia is wisdom

  • Zoe means "life"

    Zoe Sofia "Life Wisdom"

  • yikes! I've been running for about 30 mins each day and I can't handle much more...Once you become a fat-burner, can you have intense shorter workouts?

  • Try bikram yoga or going for a long hike. I live in LA and have access to hiking trails that go for an hour and even longer if I choose. That keeps fat off of my body.

You can purchase pilates DVD's that last about an hour long and get yourself a yoga mat and do it at home. I rotate between long hikes, yoga and pilates.

One hour a day that keeps fat away but I'm also naturally thin but I think it'll work for you.

  • From what Ive read about nutrition and working out. Your body uses carbs/sugar for energy, when depleted since in a high metabolism mode it takes the energy from the next fastest source, not fat but muscle.Muscle is hard to gain so when I do cardio I make sure im being fed sufficient carbs..... How is this notion wrong?

  • wrong, carbs, which are turned into glycogen for energy, is a powerful energy source which is primarily used for high intensity exercise, power/olympic lifting, sprinting, intense sports etc. For a normal semi-active person most of the glycogen goes unused and is stored as fat. The second source of energy is fat, while inefficient for high instensity exercise, it is the most efficient for anything else and due to its low glycemic effect, is not stored as fat nearly as much as carbs

  • muscle is only broken down for energy(catabolism) when there is to little carbs or fat in your diet. If you are trying to gain muscle I suggest cutting carbs, raising your fat intake as well as your protein and doing low intensity cardio such as jogging at low speeds or doing a treadclimber or something. Low intensity cardio does not burn glycogen but rather fat and pumps more oxygen into your muscles which is crucial for muscle growth(hypertrophy). Just keep eating and lifting and youll be fine

  • however shorter intense cardio ups metabolism by a larger coefficient and that boost is maintained for longer in the day resulting in more fat being burned through High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) that its name so that you can search if you don't believe me

  • Great words Doc. Helps for a good jump start. I just recently started working out 2 times a week for up to 2 hours at a time. I've also already started canceling out a lot of sugars in my diet. Absolutely no fast food or soda is essential. I'm paying close attention to what I eat now. It's great to have a journal and log everything in. Right now I'm at 2 to 3 meals a day with maybe 1 or 2 small things in between. I also take in 2 to 3 liters of water a day. I'm on my way to a better me. I hope!

  • Lays it right out for you. Great video as

usual. I remember a guy who said he wanted to "lose weight for my kid and start living healthy". His radical plan? Low calorie Aspartame, diet soda and Weight Watchers.

The result? You guessed it, he is fatter

than ever. Is this what the average American thinks is radically healthy? No, this guy

    had above average intelligence.

  • Yea, I'm not trying to sell anything in my channel so the information tends to be more solid and not slanted because of a profit motive.

I personally think most of the diet systems out there are scams. People need to learn the basics of nutrition and take better care of themselves. The weight will just start to come off afterwards.

  • @psychetruth What about CLA???

  • What if you can't exercise because of a medical condition like Degenerative disc disease, and my pscychologist told me to learn how to relax?

  • Check out the CD set "The Tao of Letting Go"

by Bruce Frantzis. He is one of the best

because he had a shattered spine early in

life and had to fight his way back to normal

    functioning. From the cover: "Release

stress, pain and negative emotions from

    your life".

  • There is NO REASON not to get some exercise unless you are a quadriplegic. You should just get a physiotherapist or a personal trainer to help you exercise and find exercises that will not stress your lower back as much until it is strong enough to handle it.

  • Thank you so much for this info and overall message! I will not wait another moment to make the change.

  • Thanks for the insight. very good video

  • The best way to lose fat is to go on a vegan diet and lift weights. I'm doing it right now and it works. You will get magnificent results with this technique. Peace.

  • greatinfo

  • EXCELLENT video Dr.

  • you guys are soo awesome! I am on a diet program right now based on yours and natalie's videos, and I am doing so well. Very helpful!!!

  • Great explanations...Thank you

  • This sounds exactly like me. I can;t afford to go to the gym or buy equipment for home. what can I do to work out for 40 mins or more to start buring the fat. I have arthritic ankles and knees and of course I am over weight. I also have a curved spine, so my needs for a workout take special care. But I know I am tired of living like this. Thanks

  • I bought a weight bench and 200lbs of weights from Sports Authority for $240. Peace.

  • I had to buy the olympic bar separately though. I believe it cost $40 bucks. It's still cheap. All that stuff for under 300 bucks. It's not expensive at all. Peace.

  • that IS expensive. It's very expensive.

  • Are you kiddin' me brother. That's a lot of stuff for under 300 bucks. You just have to save. A dollar, a dollar there and you'll have your equipment before you know it. Then you can get started on your weight-loss program. Good luck bro. Take care. Peace.

  • well at my income level, it would take about 3 years to save that kind of money, and before the three years was up, id need it for something else like a car repair or a vet bill.

My point in asking this question in the first place was find an effect FREE way to do what I need to do that wouldn't cause such horrible pain to my back, knees and ankles. I cant walk for 40 mins it's too much on my joints. There MUST be something.

  • I knew it.

  • Like I have said Atkins was right all along!

  • *****

  • I am not overweight but still want to lose some pounds because I think I will feel better that way. Can you do a video for people that only need to lose 6 or 7 pounds? I'm 132 pounds and 5 foot 7. Thank you

  • u cant really go by sugars u need to take in to concideration of wethere or not ur suffere a chemical imbalance i the brain which causes mental illness which u then suffere highs and lows which isnt to do with sugars , also people with thyroid trouble that can contribute to cholesterol and mood swings ... so i tend to disagree just because u are low or high can or cant be botheed getting out of bed doesnt have to alsways to with sugar levels if im wrong correct me

  • dr. john breeding one of the psychologists under psychetruth has many informative videos about the industry of giving drugs to people and the made up term of chemical imbalance. see all of the psychetruth videos and understand that this isn't misinformation pushed by billion dollar industries but straightforward opinions by professionals who aren't here to make a profit off you

  • sorry not having a go at him was just asking a question , i have a chemical imbalance i also have multiple sclerosis and hashimotos disease and nothing has been mentioned by my doctors about sugar levels etc

  • look up "chemical imbalance" on youtube, and you will see that psychetruth's resident psychologist has posted a lot about this. in addition most doctors do not treat the root causes of problems but only the symptoms, they do not monitor your sleeping, nutritional, or exercise habits and are in some ways part of the problem.

  • I'm involved in all of this right now. What are the best ways to lower cortisol when someone is oder--48/female. So under 40 minutes, I'm not burning fat? All this is to lose the weight I gained when I stopped smoking about 3 months ago.

I am eating mostly 40 30 30. But other issues at play.

Thanks for a great video!!! Now to hit the elliptical trainer for over 40 minutes.

  • I might have hypoclycemia... How do I find out for sure? Is it a blood test?

  • I've never quite understood the difference between fruit sources of sugar (fruit juices, bananas, dates, dried figs, dried prunes, rasins, oranges, apples, mangoes, berries, plums, peaches, pears) and refined sugars (corn syrup, candy and pastries) except that the fruit sugars, especially fresh fruit makes me feel better. A lot of bananas never really hurt endurance cardio-vascular performance.

  • The video tomorrow will touch on that subject but I also plan to a do video about fruits in general to cover it more throughly soon.
