  • The Academy by many accounts has wanted to honor Doris Day with a career achievement Oscar but she has graciously declined. Same with the Kennedy Center Honors. It's clear she long ago left Hollywood and fame behind and has enjoyed her being a businessperson and an activist on behalf of those who cannot advocate on behalf of themselves (heck, they can't even talk, though they can "speak"!). I think it's a matter of her having little interest in who she was and much interest in who she is.

  • Silver Bells.

    Special Ballad.

  • oh the cheese still its great !

  • Billy De Wolfe was a great actor, no doubt about it, but someone answer this question. Do you have any proof that he was a fag?

  • @matthewosmond1984 WHY? I just don't understand why it needs to be answered, nor why anyone should care.

  • @PhoenixBird50 I just wondered because. Some sources said he was bi, and some sources say he was gay. I wish someone would clarify that.

  • What a classy lady! :) One of a kind..

  • Great lady. Lovely, and what class.

  • I loved this. Everyone in her world at that time, sharing a wonderful christmas. This season's cast was sensational, and it was a good group too. The last season with McLean Stevenson and Rose Marie; with it also being the first season that Kaye Ballard and Bernie Kopell as the Paluccis. Great clip here.

  • GORGEOUS! NO OTHER WORD DESCRIBES IT!

  • OMG I remember when TV went dark and the logo. I nearly forgot that. Then you all went to bed knowing it was time to start a new day. Society is too hyped up now.

  • jee, she was beautiful.

  • @DonnaMammaMia Gee, she still IS beautiful!!!

  • I absolutely agree with you - there's nothing like the wholesome family shows of the 50's and 60's ... except they're no longer profitable for ABC, NBC and CBS (remember when they were the only stations around and T.V. went dark at 12:30 a.m.?)

  • This was one of the best sitcoms ever ! We always watched the Doris Day Show every week without exception when I was in grade school and high school ! She was quite the lady and an excellent singer ! I sure wish they had these wholesome types of sitcoms today as the Doris Day Show and the Mary Tyler Moore Show . What ever happened to our innocence when it cam to Family Television Shows? ;-(

  • Brings back great memories! What a joy to listen to. I love her hair too!

  • She looks a little sunburnt, Lol.

She has such a warm voice, I would recognise it anywhere!

  • I agree with jeaniebthe 1. Doris Day is a beautiful lady and always was. I can still see her in some of her films and loved them. I also agree with Lavisiondelperu about what they said.

  • Love Doris, always have. She taught me to sing... <3

  • that dude looks like will ferrell.

  • merry christmas to all you tuber,s out there from holland. may god bless you

  • Doris , my little peach , I love you.x

  • People passing LOL Doesn't that mean dying? hehehehe

J/k I know what she meant, but its still funny.

  • wow she is wonderful

  • Academy Award long over-due. But the voting acaemdy is older now. Remember when the presenters were legendary stars, now they are gone. They are going for a youthful market. Who would tune in is Doris Day was presented a special Oscar? I KNOW for a fact many would. But I would be sad if you hear some younger starts say Doris who?

  • is that her real family?

  • Please visit my you tube channel meryl heasman. I have written The Journey and welcome comments. I would love to have written for Doris Day...my favourite singer of all time! Love this song especially. This was such a great show wasn't it!

  • Wow, was this filmed thru gauze or what??

  • Why does it make me remember my younger years yet make me feel a seemingly sense of loss when I hear Doris Day sing. Wonderful singer and actress. Classic!

  • not as good as jim reeves although i think doris is heavenly

  • What a beautiful and wonderful woman. I got a "girl crush" on her when I was 10 and she sang "Secret Love" on the big screen. I've been a fan ever since. And she's an animal rights activist to boot! God bless you, Doris Day!

  • I dont remember this show. I was about 12 years old. I must have been out causing my parents to go grey early.

  • I love the 70s. A great show. She was so beautiful!

  • So beautiful :) I just wish she had sung more on her TV show...:)

  • Another one of Doris Day's amazing talents!

  • What an adorable lady..

  • i do hope someone can post a flim clip of doris day singing "a christmas story" from her movie On Moonlight Bay. i love that song... please post it.

  • Hey i didn't know Doris had a show? That chick's HOTT! 5 stars and thanx for the info'! be checkin' your YT channel.=)

  • Doris Day is my idol!

I remember watching this episode 30 years ago ... what I great feeling to see it again after all these years.

Silver Bells is my all-time Christmas carol but it's even more magical when sung by Doris.

    Merry Christmas, Ms Day!

  • Is Ms. Day alive and well? cause its been awhile since she's appeared in some special program or made any movies.

  • Yesterday was her happy birthday (85 y.o.).

  • Yes, her birthday is on 3rd April and she is 87.

  • Actually she is 85,April 3rd 1924.

  • Thanx for the info, gonna wish her a happy birthday,....well better late than never! btw, you say she's turned 85, but pianoafterdark says she's 87, which is correct?

  • Apparently nobody (except her) knows if she's born in 1922, 1923 or 1924. I've seen in the free paper (metro) she's 86. You pick which date you like :) It's fair to say she's older than 85 :)

  • every year a radio station does her music all day long on her bday and this past april they had her on and she turned 85

  • i have noticed that as well that some web sites say she was born in 1922 but it is actually 1924. she is 85.. she is my fav of all time

  • I have the Doris Day Christmas CD. also an album with al the stars ie. Robet Goulet, Doris Day, Percy Faith, Ray Conniff and others from Columbia Records.

  • I just watched this episode today and got all choked up. We need more innocent and sweet tv like this on the air today!

  • how many filters were on that lense ?

  • Hearing Doris reminds me of that homey feeling you get when you hug your mom as a kid. Everytime I hear her I feel so warm inside like my mom is there right with me

  • This song and her signature song 'Que Sera, Sera' were written by the same songrwiting ampersand--Jay Livingston and Ray Evans.

  • Also, they wrote the "Bonanza" theme song !

  • ...And the 'Mister Ed' song.

  • ...of which the lyrics, thankfully, were only heard at the end of the pilot (which may be seen on the "official" Sesaon 1 D.V.D. set from Paramount, due September 1).

  • I think the Academy of Motion Pictures should honor her with an honorary Oscar and also a tribute from the AFI.

  • @LAVISIONDELPERU The Academy is rumored not to honor her because she wont attend the ceremony! RIP OFF!

  • @LAVISIONDELPERU I think she declined an AFI tribute, but definitely an honorary Oscar for an extraordinary body of work.

  • hi! i was looking for the que sera sera song to show it for my children, and i found about your videos!

i always loved this song and i am so happy to see doris day singing it. thank you! ^.^!

  • One of the all time best voices. She looked great too. Christmas songs are just the best too. Thanks.

  • That was Billy DeWollfe (sp?) wasn't it? I remember him from this series when it was on back in the day!

  • Billy DeWolfe was also the "Magician" in the "Frosty the Snowman" cartoon Classic Christmas special.

  • Previously, he was Roland P. Hutton on "Good Morning World". He died of cancer in 1974.

  • @mrobertb Yep that's Billy. He was also the voice of the Magician from Frosty the Snowman.

  • When did she actually make this recording? I have it on a Goodyear GREAT SONGS OF CHRISTMAS album from about 1965--three year before this TV series began.

  • This was for her 1970 TV show as stated on this page description.

  • amazing footage, her voice is awesome, such feeling in her singing, yes, i actually felt myself welling up watching this. Best singer of our time.

  • Wunderschön!!

  • That was a nice episode of the DD Show. Thanks for sharing !

  • I enjoy every part of all DD shows 1 - 5 season, as well as DD show l973 and DD today 1975. Hope to get DD best friends too. She's THE BEST. I love listening her songs every day.

  • I watched The Doris Day Show Christmas episodes this past Christmas it got me in the yuletide spirit!
