In a situation like this, where you have a dwarf being chased. A better answer is to draft the chased dwarf into the military, so you can better control the dwarf, instead of letting him run around like a chicken randomly.
@enlivee I have been in more then one situation where I have sat behind hundreds of traps, and it wasn't nearly enough. Traps handle pests, and help buy you extra time. There are things that avoid traps, and things that destroy them. I enjoy the breathing room, as I have never had all that much luck with military.
There are also the far more elaborate traps, that nothing gets through, but those take a lot of time to set up.

@rpengler1 I hate traps. I feel they cheat the game. You can line a corridor with impossible traps and then sit in your fort. Too easy!
