the vocals simply aren't good enough, if you're going to have guitar, bass and drumming of that quality then the vocals need to be up to scratch otherwise it just sounds bad, for reference take a look at the Live at Budokan DVD's

I think he's awesome. At the very least it promises a fresh album, hopefully something really new. Put the progress back in progressive metal.

@FatJudith I dunno that I think being with Roadrunner or not would make a difference. I think they write the music they want to write. They went with roadrunner because roadrunner would let them do things their own way.

I hope Mangini makes things a bit more prog but that just this whole "new drummer" thing in general brings SOMETHING completely new and interesting to the mix. And I think it will!

I agree he is agreat drummer, the only thing right for DT is Mike Portnoy, but I think Mangini will bring his own ideas for the new album and it will be great, there is something JP and the others seen and felt in him to pick him.
