"clients haven't got a clue what they want but as soon as you present an idea they become a designer, change them colours, make that type smaller, put it over ther!! what a joke!

Graphic Design was fun for the first year. After 14 long, painful years I bailed and will never return. I think I was the last of my graduating class to bail. I guess the others were a lot smarter and left early.

The industry blows. The work sucks and the clients are complete arse monkeys.

Hey puppetdesign, your history sounds like mine. I too can feel the demise of my involvement with this profession after 14 years. It's just getting harder & we're expected to be Graphic Designers/Web Designers/Programmers/Marketin­g Gurus/Account Services people, etc. Of course, training is almost always in our own time & out of our own pocket. The pay sucks & the stress of keeping up with it all is too much. Good luck to you. What are you doing these days instead? I don't know what next to do..

@thepyromancer100 yea but thats if you work for a graphic design firm that has high end clients. Not working for a firm like the one this guy owns. And before you can get hired by a firm that pays that much you will have to go apply for small ones that cater to small businesses in their area since the high end ones only hire people with experience and a good portfolio. You can expect pay to start at $400 a week minimum.
