I love SEGA and Nintendo SEGA got it right with the DREAMCAST great console Ioved Nintendo for there consols and games I love all there machines and games till the wii come along I must admit I was expecting a powerhouse with great games instead we got an updated gamecube? @solofalcon You do realize that X-band was on the Genesis too right? They even had it on the Saturn. Oh, and you forgot about Nintendo's other add-ons like the Famicom Disk System and the Satellaview.

The Sega CD and 32X at least have games that make them worth owning. Only the Famicom Disk System has that defense with Nintendo's add-ons.

It displays similar amounts of polygons as Starfox, at a better frame rate and with absolutely no enhancment chips!

Then we have Star Cruiser from 1990. While the frame rate is a bit choppy, its still impressive for running on stock hardware:

And then we have Virtua Racing which used the SVP chip to push far more polygons than any SNES SFX game:

The Genesis CPU destroys the SNES CPU.

@MrDogatlarge You do realize that the Genesis could handle games like Starfox without the need of a Super FX chip right? And then there's Virtua racing that uses the SVP chip that pushes far more polygons than any SNES game ever did.

Thunder Force 3 is not bad either. It's probably one of the best shooters of that Generation.

We won't admit SNES is superior because it's not superior. SNES has its advantages over the Genesis, just as the Genesis has it's advantages over the SNES.

@MrDogatlarge Again, that's the result of poor in accurate emulators. ZSNES and SNES9x are some of the worst SNES emulators out there in terms of accuracy. On on real hardware the SNES sounds like a warbly muffled mess. The Genesis instead uses FM Synth which sounds a bit clearer than the low quality samples on the SNES. As for speed, Sonic, Contra, Thunder Force, etc. all match F Zero in speed.

Every Multiplatform game did not sound better on SNES. Compare Thunder Force 3 to Thunder Spirits.

@MrDogatlarge What the video proves is that the Genesis doesn't have bad digital audio capabilities as many SNES fans try to claim. The only limitation that prevents you from having sound like that in a Genesis game is ROM size limitations. If you have the memory space to store the clips, you can use them in a game.

@MrDogatlarge Emulators don't accurately portray the hardware. Final Fight on a real SNES is full of slowdown and flickering sprites with few enemies and objects to destroy on screen. Streets of Rage on the other hand has little slowdown, more enemies and destroyable objects on screen, and has little to no flickering sprites. Contra Hard Corps and Gunstar Heroes play much faster with more going on than Contra 3 on the SNES.

Making JUST software does not mean they somehow lost. Both companies still exist, just in different ways.I'd say SEGA won in the long run. They no longer have to worry about hardware progression obseleting the systems they release. They can just concentrate on making the great games they have always made.

I owned a Genesis, but to be honest I'd say they rank equally to me. Both in the amount of cool games, graphics, and nostalgia factor. I remember playin' Sonic the Hedgehog for the first time as a Putt Putt Golf, on a 30minute pass, and that feeling was beautiful as a kid.

I owned BOTH as a kid, but I played the Geneis more often, cuz the BIG 3 were on there (SONIC,MORTAL KOMBAT, STREET FIGHTER II) & while I give it 2 the SNES for havin better controls, Sega Genesis had slightly better graphics for that time. but 2 a casual gamer its like comparing apples to oranges
