I have only been able to visit King's Island twice, 1987 and 88. Vortex was new then and it was awesome !! Unfortunatly all of these Arrow custom loopers get old and worn out. I heard they were gonna take Vortex out. Is that true ? If so, I need to get my ass back there and ride it one more time !
@dirtysteve75 I would follow what the last guys said, but personally after watching videos of a lot of Arrow coasters, I wouldn't ride it lol. It's not even coasters like this that are rough, even the new Arrow coasters before 2003 and the Vekoma coasters afterwords are very painful and rough. If anything, stick to Intamin, or B&M coasters, they're always great rides :D

I don't understand why they break it almost to a stop before the corkscrews. I think the ride would be smoother if it didn't go so slow from that point on.
@callmemarc It has to for safety purposes. Its there in case there needs to be an e-stop. Also, if it wasn't there, the train on the lift hill would have to wait until the current train gets all the way to the final brakes.

I first rode this when I was about 10, I'm 32 now and still love it. The Beast is still my favorite. Old, fast, and wooden. Such a ruff ride you think it might come off the tracks

@bbrewer5 Nothing happened. No one has ever died on it. Cedar Fair is planning on possibly beginning to fix the coaster this year and they are looking at re-designing portions of the coaster.
@AmusementPKAuthority Well i knew no one had died on it. I live about 20 minutes from kings island. It would have been all over the news. At the time I was just wondering why it was down. I went on the 24th of july (this year) and it was still down. I was disappointed really. A lot of the main coasters were down. The flight of fear was down for all but 2 hours. The racers, vortex, son of beast, and firehawk were closed all day. (i know the son of beast is down for a while, if not for good.)

@31AmericanGirl (Part 4) 11. Here would be the Son of the Beast, but you can no longer ride it due to deaths on the coaster. Also you can ride The Crypt but it's a waist of time which is why it's unnumbered.
@10zachhenninger there were absolutely no deaths on the son of beast. A woman claimed that a blood vessel popped in her brain after the ride. They have been bettling in court about it since. The weird thing is that she never complained about it til a couple weeks after the ride. also there were no records of her going to the medical clinic at the park. Cant be proved so they are still in court. Rumor: ride may be fixed and ready for action in2012!
@31AmericanGirl (Part 3) 8. Stunt Coaster. You go pretty fast on this, as soon as the the ride starts your speeding down the track, and there's some twists, but it's like your average rollercoaster. 9. Flight of Fear. Almost exactly the same as the Stunt Coaster. 10. Diamondback. You've worked your way up, and now prove yourself as a Ride Warrior. The first hill is really high up and steep, the second one is half the height and the same steep, so this pretty thrilling, but then smooth sailing.
@31AmericanGirl (Part 2) 6. The Beast. It has a couple pretty steep hills, you go pretty fast at times,sometimes your tilted and feel as if you'll fall out depending on which seat of the car your in, and it's jerky. The hills don't last long and they're fun, the jerky isn't so bad, the speed just adds to the fun, and the feel you'll fall out was part of the good thrill. 7. Firehawk. Nothing is really bad besides the fact that your laying on your so stomach so it's pretty thrilling.
@31AmericanGirl 1.Adventure Express.(Part 1) It's a little jerky, but the best for a start. 2.Flight Deck. You go pretty fast and down a kinda large hill, but you get you get the feel of a roller coaster yet in a car you feel very safe in. 3.Racer. You have a some hills but it's not bad. 4.Vortex. You should be confident now, so you should ride this and going upside down and loop feels just the same as straight. 5. Invertigo. This one is a feet dangler and you go upside down alot but it's ok.
@31AmericanGirl the first would be Adventure Express. its a little jerky but not bad. then the racer so you can get the feel of hills. then the beast. its a combo of the racer and adventure express. the rest depends on what your afriad of. if you don't like going upside down you should ride flight of fear. if its speed then probley backlot stunt coaster. after you ride both of those you can ride diamound back. i don't recommend vortex because it really hurts your neck. trust me.

@bbrewer5 Nothing happened. No one has ever died on it. Cedar Fair is planning on possibly beginning to fix the coaster this year and they are looking at re-designing portions of the coaster.

@AmusementPKAuthority Well i knew no one had died on it. I live about 20 minutes from kings island. It would have been all over the news. At the time I was just wondering why it was down. I went on the 24th of july (this year) and it was still down. I was disappointed really. A lot of the main coasters were down. The flight of fear was down for all but 2 hours. The racers, vortex, son of beast, and firehawk were closed all day. (i know the son of beast is down for a while, if not for good.)

@AmusementPKAuthority The diamondback was down for about 6 hours as well. Really disappointing day. That was the first time I had been in about 4 years. I understand coasters go down from time to time, but 6 coasters down at once for most of the day on a weekend is pretty bad.

@31AmericanGirl (Part 4) 11. Here would be the Son of the Beast, but you can no longer ride it due to deaths on the coaster. Also you can ride The Crypt but it's a waist of time which is why it's unnumbered.

@10zachhenninger there were absolutely no deaths on the son of beast. A woman claimed that a blood vessel popped in her brain after the ride. They have been bettling in court about it since. The weird thing is that she never complained about it til a couple weeks after the ride. also there were no records of her going to the medical clinic at the park. Cant be proved so they are still in court. Rumor: ride may be fixed and ready for action in2012!

@31AmericanGirl (Part 3) 8. Stunt Coaster. You go pretty fast on this, as soon as the the ride starts your speeding down the track, and there's some twists, but it's like your average rollercoaster. 9. Flight of Fear. Almost exactly the same as the Stunt Coaster. 10. Diamondback. You've worked your way up, and now prove yourself as a Ride Warrior. The first hill is really high up and steep, the second one is half the height and the same steep, so this pretty thrilling, but then smooth sailing.

@31AmericanGirl (Part 2) 6. The Beast. It has a couple pretty steep hills, you go pretty fast at times,sometimes your tilted and feel as if you'll fall out depending on which seat of the car your in, and it's jerky. The hills don't last long and they're fun, the jerky isn't so bad, the speed just adds to the fun, and the feel you'll fall out was part of the good thrill. 7. Firehawk. Nothing is really bad besides the fact that your laying on your so stomach so it's pretty thrilling.

@31AmericanGirl 1.Adventure Express.(Part 1) It's a little jerky, but the best for a start. 2.Flight Deck. You go pretty fast and down a kinda large hill, but you get you get the feel of a roller coaster yet in a car you feel very safe in. 3.Racer. You have a some hills but it's not bad. 4.Vortex. You should be confident now, so you should ride this and going upside down and loop feels just the same as straight. 5. Invertigo. This one is a feet dangler and you go upside down alot but it's ok.

@31AmericanGirl the first would be Adventure Express. its a little jerky but not bad. then the racer so you can get the feel of hills. then the beast. its a combo of the racer and adventure express. the rest depends on what your afriad of. if you don't like going upside down you should ride flight of fear. if its speed then probley backlot stunt coaster. after you ride both of those you can ride diamound back. i don't recommend vortex because it really hurts your neck. trust me.

@InvaderAbbyM Yes, Invertigo does. It is the only ride with a cobra roll in the whole park, It's really fun to ride.
