Oh my gosh! This is amazing! I have been running Cross since 5th grade and I am 20. I'm not very good at math so I have no idea how many years, but I have always ran with shoes because you have to in cross country. But whenever we would play speedball barefoot or when we would work on sprints bare footed I felt like I could run faster and now I know why. This has changed my life forever!
Look up the article "Shoes, Sitting, and Lower Body Dysfunctions" by Steven Low. It's a 5-part monstrosity, but if you have doubts about barefoot running, you really should take a look at it.
ATTENTION FLATFOOTERS! Throw your damn barefoot shoes. Its pretty much bullshit because the padding restricts the toe to go to the side when running. THIS IS WHAT GIVES YOU THE ARCH.(Arch is a good thing) Advise, throw away the barefoots shoes and run without.
I find if I don't let my heel hit after the mid or forefoot strike , my calves burn. but if I let the heel hit after the mid foot strike my calves feel much better.
i have been running all wrong for a month or so! i run in vibrams and my achilles tendon starting hurting which leads me to believe that i am landing on my heel. ouch! can;t wait to get out and try it again...thanks for the video!
Hi, I started running barefoot (but with 5 fingers) almost 2 weeks ago, 6 days/week 2,3 km everyday (i watched all your videos beforehand on technique so i felt prepared, it was a huge improvement even the first run - didnt get tired and just wanted to go on). Am i in the risk of injury from about 20-25min almost everyday or has feet adjusted? I havnt felt any pain, just tired legs now and then. I dont want to slow down but rather increase more already, but is it to soon, what do you recommend?
the reason people want to run barefoot is because they want to avoid injuries. Seems like there is a whole other set of injuries. running on grass might be good though
@sleestack808 The reason there are these injuries is because people have learned to run with shoes, which is now how to run. If we never used a pair of shoes in our life, we probably wouldn't have these injuries, because we would've grown up with the proper technique.
Thank you, Skye! Perfect. You helped-- I had been running in Vibrams on the balls of my feet and was getting major cramping in my calves. I had started playing with moving the impact back to the meaty part next to my arch, but was not sure I was doing the right thing. This confirms it.
Also, I really liked the idea of making my footfalls about lifting the knee, and not about pushing the earth. I'll try more of this in my next run tomorrow.
Don't go over 5 minutes for the first week, seriously. I thought 10 minutes wouldn't hurt on my 3rd run/day and ended up blistering my big toes. Now I just have to wait till that heals before I can run again. Barefoot requires very low energy, in my opinion, so going over 5 minutes appears to take very little effort. So wear a chronograph/stopwatch, and stop at 5 minutes unless you feel certain you haven't blistered. Otherwise prepare for disappointment while you get shutdown for a few days.

Thanks for all the info! I JUST got my Vibram shoes, and they're great! :) I am so happy I found your channel!
Can I ask you a separate question? What skin care do you use? You are so beautiful! :) Also, what makeup do you wear?
Thanks again! :)

I can't conceive of a scenario where a beautiful girl like her explains barefooting to open-minded runners all over the world.
The odds are definitely against it. :/

So do your heels not touch the floor at all when you're running? I find that mine tend to make light contact with it, before I spring off again.
PS did 2, nigh on 10 min runs, the past 2 days, and no blisters. Woot! Gonna try somthing longer tomorrow.

I have finally got my form down. It really is tough at first. It took me about 1.5 months to change my running form.
