For people who know how to swim or even float its like this is so easy, anyone can do it. But for people who cant swim its like help! Cant you see im drowning!!! Im gonna die... I still cant swim anyways.... ;(
I do egg beater differently and it still works and it's super easy just don't stretch your legs out keep them under u but apart a little bit move them in circles going opposite ways and then make your arms circle too iits easier done than said
I have swim class tomorow it's my second class and I am short. so I'll try this it looks pretty easy but idk it takes me a while to learn ! Great vid :D
@Left4YoMomma I'm 20 and can sort of tread water. Not for a long time though. I was never actually taught how to until I joined the military. Even then they more or less just put you in the pool and said tread water.
@sodaholic12 Same. Plus no one ever explained how to do this. PLUS I never learned how to swim until AFTER I almost drowned a couple of times. That's my life.
i just learned to tread water month ago and i'm 29. the way i learned? realizing the hardest part is relaxing and allowing your body (regardless of size) to do what it naturally wants to do, float...and getting dropped off in the middle of the ocean. i would suggest to anyone that has trouble, practice in CALM salt water if you can. it's much easier to float. i have a huge fear of drowning and not being able to touch my feet to the ground. if i can learn to tread water, anyone can.
All I did to learn was copy my friends when we were at the pool, When they'd swim underwater (shallow of course) I'd go under with them and copy what they did so i learnt how to swim underwater, then to swim on the surface? I just did what they did and I got it no problem a few tries but i got it then for treading water I got in the deep end and held on the the ledge letting go for a few seconds just kicking my feet and after awhile I got the hang of it and now I'm a good swimmer! =D
I was in a swimming class and I went under at least once everytime I tried treading. The last time I honeslty thought they'd be fishing me out......no one noticed >.>
@Supercandygirl77 first of all no everyone knows how to swim, 10% of people maybe do know... secondly... try going to the pool with someone that knows how to swim in the times of the day where the pool is nearly with no people
@Lonlywolf89 i dont think i can when i was at west ed water park they knew i couldnt swim and my mom took me into the wave pool at the deep water and the waves almost made me fall off my tube and it went over my head so i cant trust my family and they dont feel sorry about it
I did my first sprint triathlon race last week although I still couldn't tread water for more than 20 seconds.... While waiting to start in the deep water, I had to stay at the back of the group, tread water as long as I could, and swam a few strokes... Treading water to keep my mouth above the surface is just too tired.
im 13 an i cant swim.. i took lessons when i was 8 but I stopped because the teacher was mean (he didnt help me when I almost drowned).. and now Im afraid of water, what do i have to do?
@CoockiexAngel you can first start with waist-deep water and then gradually build up your courage. I have seen some people with similar experience learn to swim by following this technique. Swimming is all about having confidence that you can swim. You will soon lose your fear of water. Cheers.
my parents had a more efficient method, hmm, how can I explain, they pretty much threw me into a river and hopefully I managed to pick that up fast enough so I didn't drown... this kind of methods, as the one shown in the video, are for little pussies, real man have to learn how to swim in real situations
i never learned how to tread water as a kid... the traditional Indian method that my parents used to learn how to swim was to be tossed into a river as a child... sadly/thankfully doing that in america isnt the most practical/legal method... hopefully ill try this and not drown.. if i cant learn to swim by then.. ill just have to find a river
in our compound there is a new rule for swimming you have to have a "swimbadge" to get in the pool or an adult but what really stinks is that the snackbar and the swimming pool is like in the same area so we have to have an swimbadge for the snackbar too and to get a swimbadge you gotta swim to the deepend and come back 4 times tread water for 2 minutes and do a backstroke!!!!!!!
I can swim for over 30 minutes non-stop, but I simply can't tread water for more than 15 seconds... I always think my body is too dense (bones and muscles?) If I stay still in a pool, my leg sinks and the top of the head just touches the water surface. I wonder if this is the same for all of you guys / gals.
I tried kicking in the water, I did the "eight-figure pattern" BUT my whole body is still under the water surface. I tried kickin it harder but no help. hmm whats going with me.
@ridemeup Did you scull with your hands? it also depends on how your body is sitting in the water if you are kicking so that your legs are positioned underneath your body and pushing the water down rather then out to the sides you should be fairly stable in the water which will help. Also dont be afraid to scull with your hands, it's not impossible to just stay afloat with just handsculls and it's relatively easy to maintain.
@antimatterz all about body position the more vertical you are in the water the harder you have to work to stay afloat try to get as horrizontal as possible use hand sculls to help you stay afloat.
I tried to do the first one when I was at the beach this summer and I almost felt back into the water. I still almost drowned anyway, not from trying to stay afloat, but from trying to keep up with the white people.
One very important thing to remember about treading water is that you don't need to keep your head above water the entire time. That will use up your energy much faster than necessary. @Lonlywolf89 I totally agree with You, I'm 32 and I just learned how to tread water watching these videos, this girl "Samantha" is great, I love the way She explains every lesson. Never is too late to learn new things.
@Lonlywolf89 im turning 13 next month and i cant swim either.... it SO SO So embarassing!!!!! i dont want to take lessons i feel like that would be more embarassing. what should i do? i dont even have access to a pool and my friends keep on inviting me tp pool parties and stuff. life sucks
@Supercandygirl77 I'm afraid of water, I'm now 22 and decided enough was enough and went for swimming lessons. What I learnt was that an astonishing number of people don't know how to swim, everyone in my class is a lot older than me. So just go for it. Better now then never.
wow it looks so easy...when i tread i do with with all my power but after a few minutes i get tired sink and only the top of my head stays over the water
Best treading water video on YOUTUBE so far. Wish we could have seen an underwater angle of you to see your feet angles. Definitely love how you are explaining as you are demonstrating. Should be ranked #1 on search.
thx i'm in lvl 9 in swimming lessons im great at almost every stroke and kick buuut I had no clue on how to do the egg beater and I think ill have to do the level all over again D: but now I know how to do it (kinda) but now ill gotta wait till I go to a pool deep enough where I cant touch then I will know if I actually can do it.

@Supercandygirl77 I'm afraid of water, I'm now 22 and decided enough was enough and went for swimming lessons. What I learnt was that an astonishing number of people don't know how to swim, everyone in my class is a lot older than me. So just go for it. Better now then never.

Best treading water video on YOUTUBE so far. Wish we could have seen an underwater angle of you to see your feet angles. Definitely love how you are explaining as you are demonstrating. Should be ranked #1 on search.

My leg work and sculling seem to work in sync for the most part ,but once I raise my hands above the water,I pretty much suck at treading water !!
