If your living you in constant fear of those annoying pesky speed traps, try using a box of (Trap-B-Gone) scoot on over to your local roofing yard and get a box of (Metal Roofing Cap Nails) personally: I prefer the economical 50lb box myself it treats multiple infected areas, a few robust handfuls scattered vigorously and your problem is all gone! It like garlic to vampires can’t run someone down to give them a ticket if you’re at the tire store! Works like a champ!
yeah so ummmm, if you could come up here to Birmingham and film a similar video, that would be great...thaaannkks! (I warn you though, it may take a few years to film them all...they are very creative up here )
These videos should not be taken for granted, there dead on. I travel the 441/301 corridor for work several times a month. In 129.4 miles this is what I encounter and mind you all with traps. Mt Dora PD, Eustis PD, Tavares PD, Lake County, Leesburg, Fruitland Park, Lady Lake, Marion Cty, Belleview, Ocala PD, Alachua County, Waldo, Hampton, Starke PD, Bradford County, Lawtey, Clay County, Duval County, and the Florida Highway Patrol. The worst are Waldo, Hampton, Lawtey, Fruitland, and Belleview.
@bgt420 Hey don't forget FDOT, they are thick between Lawtey and Baldwin on 301. Now FDOT and FHP have merged and I have noticed FDOT pulling over more 4 wheelers since the merge. Also be careful of school speed zone hours! The fines are doubled if you get a ticket through a school zone.
BGT420 why don't you do some of your own videos on Fruitland and Bellview?
@HONORYOUROATH Right now I don't have a video camera worth the shots. I'm actually looking to invest in small digital one. I really need to get Fruitland on video since there the worst down here. They have a royal blue uc charger, two uc trailblazers, two full time k-9 units, a motor unit (LT Cutter), and a load of marked units. As for Belleview there rolling with fewer units but man there sneaky. One sits close to car lot just past an overpass shooting laser. People never see him until well...
I lived in Gainesville during my college years and i tell you,...driving through Waldo going to Jacksonville was hit and miss. More hits than misses. Got to the point where I said,...hell i'm just going to drive 5 miles lower than the speed limit.
I lived in a small town all the cops use to set up right in the parking lane 4 ways flashing head lights on and radar set to run. The cop was writing 20 to 30 speed tickets a day 15 mhp over limit. Plus other assorted traffic law violations. The only thing he did not do is put a bill board announcing that he was working.
@samten10a Yeah I know what you mean.Waldo has plenty of warnings. All of the speed signs are clearly marked with yellow tops. The Waldo P.D puts up the electric road signs warning people not to speed.AAA actually has billboards north and south of Waldo warning of the speed trap.Waldo also has yellow topped road signs that say SPEED STRICTLY ENFORCED.But people still speed and people still get speeding tickets.
@TheChampionInMe It sucks when their job is to enforce a speed limit deliberately set far below the 85th percentile. Speed limits that are set too low turn a large number of safe drivers into "offenders", and have little if any effect on the speed driven by motorists. Enforcement should focus on the 15% of drivers who drive insanely slow and the 15% of drivers who drive unnecessarily fast. Those are the people whose behavior actually creates unsafe conditions on the roadways.
@vonkruel Actually it's the lower 5-10% and the upper 5-10% who are the problem - there's not a full 30% of drivers who really are unsafe based on their speed. Anyway I think speed limits that are set reasonably are helpful, but when they're set too low, they're entirely unhelpful (can actually INCREASE accidents), and they're destructive in ways that are hard to measure. When you get a ticket from the police that you know is complete bullshit, what are you supposed to think?
@vonkruel Show where you got your numbers. Where is the study that back these numbers up? I know there is no study. You just made these numbers up. Why not try doing something productive for mankind instead of harassing the police.
@HONORYOUROATH I myself am an officer in a nicely populated city mostly of middle class residence. We sit right on Interstates 71 and 75 where the limit is set at 55mph (because of construction). Fines are doubled as well in construction zones. We have 5 speed traps set up on a 2mile stretch of road because a worker was killed by a speeding driver..... The moral of this story, speed traps aren't always a bad thing....
@gtasalova6969 Yeah, I agree not all speed enforcement is bad.In my neighborhood the speed limit is
25 MPH.Residents had gotten so bad about speeding that it was getting dangerous.A St Johns County Sheriff's Deputy that lives in our neighborhood ran speed enforcement issuing WARNINGS and lectures about the safety of our children. It was effective and people slowed down...for a little while. But you gotta admit the practices of the Hampton Police are not for the purpose of public safety!
@HONORYOUROATH I understand your thinking, but the police depart does need a source of income. With all these budget cuts being done by governments, you will start seeing more and more speed traps such as these. We don't set the speed limits, we just enforce them. If you want to see speed traps like these disappear then people need to stop speeding.
@gtasalova6969 Did you see my video on the Hampton speed trap? What do you think about how they hide behind those dumpsters?Hey since your a LEO let me ask you a question.I was thinking about going to Lawtey Fl,standing on the public side walk with a sign that simply says SPEED TRAP 45 MPH.I think that would be a good way to both slow people down and save citizens a bunch of money.I f I did that to one of your speed traps how would you handle it?Would you defend my 1st amendment right?
@gtasalova6969 (continued) What if your fellow officers attempted to intimidate or arrest me would you ask them to stand down? Why are LEO's so camera shy? I recently had a Florida DOT officer tell me it's a felony to film law enforcement!
@HONORYOUROATH A couple of things to what you said, there is nothing illegal about hiding behind dumpsters or buildings. it's a common misconception that this is entrapment. It is your first amendment right to stand on a public sidewalk and I would have no issues with it. Not everyone will pay attention to your sign or even believe you. I am a firm believer of first amendment rights! I could talk to my officers about the issue but if I am not a commanding officer and I wasn't first on the Scene
@HONORYOUROATH (con't) then I have to fallow a fellow officers lead and back him up no matter what. There is a code between us.... And many officers are very camera shy, but I you are well within your rights to video tape us. Other officers I know would get very mad because they feel no one should ever question their authority. I do not agree with these officers. But if one of my buddies were harassing you over it, I would talk to them but ultimately I can't tell them what to do.
@HONORYOUROATH Honesty is what it's all about. I won't write a person a bogus ticket or arrest someone for something I KNOW they didn't do. I wouldn't put my job at risk. But these speed traps are probably their only source of income which is why they are strictly enforced. It may not be fair, but this is really the only way to keep a police department.
@gtasalova6969 Hmmm which leads to the question... do we really need the Hampton ,Waldo, or Lawtey police departments when we all ready have County Deputies and State Troopers? If a police department like Hampton exist for the sole purpose of righting speeding tickets then I say audios! Don't get me wrong we have our own Police here in St Augustine and they do a good job. Also the majority of their duties does not consist of looting the public.
@HONORYOUROATH I myself am I city officer in a city that has around 30,000 people in about 10 square miles. The county is about 120,000 and 257 square miles. we have two state troopers and 200 deputies for this 257 square miles. City cops relieve up the amount of county cops needed on any given night. Plus, only 25 square miles of this 257 is city space so the rest is country.... We NEED city cops. I know for a fact that just about every county is the exact same way. Respond time for calls
@HONORYOUROATH would go down and then the public would hate the police for taking too long. Remember, just because you get rid of the city department doesn't mean that the county deputies get more hours and officers to work every day. County deputies make more money than city, so you'd actually be wasting money by getting rid of city cops.
@gtasalova6969 Officer I have nothing further to say to you.I'm not answering any questions.I plead the 5th and elect to remain silent. If I'm not being detained I would like to be free to go. LOL!
I am very unhappy with our government at all levels local state and federal.I am active in many civil liberty organizations and make videos and post things on websites so I am trying to do something about it.I have gotten used to people who make pathetic comments like,,,if you don't like it here move to Iraq..I served my country in the Army including over a year in Korea... so I think I will stay right here
tell me when do you want the stats to start from? and its "seize" not "cease" two totally different words with total different meanings. if you are un happy with our goverment change it. don't go to a website and complain about it. or you can always move. i hear Iraq is lovely
How many vehicles, cash and other private property has been ceased by Waldo PD through asset forfeiture over the years?Do you have the stats on that?Probably not because even though it's illegal, most law enforcement agencies hide how much they cease so they can use the loot for themselves. How many non violent citizens has Waldo arrested for simple marijuana possession? They don't have the K-9 unit out there for nothing!
@michaeldlc....i too invite you to ride along with Waldo PD you might be suprised, it is not as though Waldo sets the limits, they only enforce them. FDOT sets the limit. There is ample opportunity to slow down and obey the speed limit. It is so strongly enforced because there is little to no calls for service. there has been zero traffic fatalities in the city of waldo for some 15 years, yet deaths on each side of the city limits. Which would lead anormal and prudent person to believe they care
(Continued) I can't even tell you how many times I've driven through Waldo and seen some young kid or a family with they're stuff strewn out all over the side of the road because Waldo PD is searching they're vehicle.THE WAR ON DRUGS along withTHE WAR ON TERROR has been the greatest alibi for usurping our civil liberties.Tens of thousands of non violent drug offenders have been locked up in government cages and billions of dollars have been ceased through the asset forfeiture fraud
He is very polite! You should take him up on it, you might find that majority of waldo's officers are professional. Pay close attention as I said a "majority" of them there is only six officers. But they are some of the most professional officers in the county. People are upset because they can't read speed limit signs. Please take the officer up on riding with him. You might see how real police work is actually done.
@imsupercop There is something wrong when 2/3 of the city income comes from tickets. Compared with the rest of the country that is an absurd amount. The Waldo police department is not worried about safety but about taking advantage of poor tourists. I don't even know how they can live with themselves...
The officer that waved to me was very polite and professional. He appeared to be a fine example of a LEO ( Law Enforcement Officer). He even invited me to get a 1st hand view by signing a waiver and doing a ride along.
