Were you trying to spell quotas? and besides that if a civilian parked his car and got out in a clearly marked turning lane, they would be ticketed. Cops should be out patrolling neighborhoods and protecting the homes of the folks who are out working to pay taxes to pay their salaries.
okay smart one that's why police department have patrol officers and they have traffic cops,, and why would you want to get out of your car in a turn lane anyway,, and how do you no people haven't been complaining about the speeders,, does it really matter,, I mean sounds like you think people that break the law should not be punished,, there are speed limits set for reasons and cops have a job to enforce it,, if you don't like it speed and get tickets or don't speed and worry about yourself
cops dont have quotes to meet smart one,, and that not a speed trap is clearly in plain sight what do you want him to do stand in the middle of the highway??
Don't lie to these people Mr. Thug. Indeed cops do have quotas. How do I know? I was an old time cop. Back before we got off on beating people just because we may have had a small penis. I was constantly being reminded by my Chief that I was not meeting my quota of tickets.
Of course that is also back when we called the people sir or mam instead of making them call us sir. Enough of your cowardly lying.
well @ my department we do not have quotas,, and how nice of you to call me a coward when that is exactly what you were when you were cop,, your probably the kid that got bullied in school and became a cop and decided to stick your chest out because of your badge and gun,, beating people just because you were a cop I hate cops like you,, you make the good officers like myself look like bad guys
Actually I was just the opposite (mrpoliceman09) Public Servant. I was quite popular in high school and never got bullied. While I was a cop I never beat anyone either. It was when I seen the new breed of young cops, like you, I decided to retire. I wanted nothing to do with low IQ thugs......Like you.
first off, your car is not level with the truck. Second you should of got a ticket for obstructing traffic. Third, that is 500ft give or take. Fourth, this officer is clearly visible to traffic.
this cops just following orders trying to make his quoto for the number of tickets he has to issue out for the month so his boss doesnt embarrass him in front of the rest of his skin head peers, thats alot more important than trying to help actual problems or catching real criminals, SERVING AND PROTECTING, it seems there new motto is money over criminals
there is a little law that states that only Commercial vehicle for Hire have to obey the speed limit. I found this in the MUTCD guide for Georgia. this little Information is like crazy but no judge can refute this. Please pass this information around so that this cash cow stops
look at those hard working cops out there doing their best to make the world a happier place by costing as many innocent and hardworking people who just want to be left alone money and time. gg
The vehicle must be visible to oncoming traffic... Looking at your video, the vehicle is parked in the street. How much more visible would you like him to be... Maybe he should have done some jumping jacks and that would get peoples attention.
And what kind of a loser drives around with a video camera. Get a real job...
Yeah, your right ! I was wondering about this one myself. He can shoot laser from a horse if need be, unless georgia has some law that states he must be in a or on a veh. of some sort. Other than that, The officer is completely legal. I'm a black officer, and I keep any eye out for the illegal stuff! But the officer's actions are legal.
Well "Boozer old boy" sad to inform you of the news. GA code (Motor Veh. & Traf. - Title 40, Sect. 40-14-7 states: No stationary speed detection device shall be employed by Co., Munc., Coll. or Univ., law Enfc. Ofc. where the vehicle from which the device is operated is obstructed from the view of the approaching motorist or is otherwise not visible for a dist. of at least 500 ft. Wow !!!
I guess your going to tell us all that you have calibrated eyes, or the eyes of a eagle ! Right ???
From the looks of your video, you wouldn't stand a chance in court !!!! or hell for that matter. Your video alone would give a judge all he'd need to throw you and your cam out and laugh about the hole asinine ordeal. The officer can clearly see five hundred feet, if not more. Did you get out and measure where he first saw the veh. and where the veh was when the device gave the speed reading ? I think not ! LOL. Maybe you should try a different profession that won't expose your true mentality.
Hey booz, I sorry man ! But you left yourself open for that one! "WIDE OPEN" :)
Look, let those officers do their job. I 'm sure this was a ploy to get yourself on "YOUTUBE" and or a possible start in the movie business! But check the want ad's in your local paper and you might get discoverd. Oh, you know what ? I have a cousin that works for a man in Idaho, and his sister's, best friends uncle's garbage mans, son's girlfriend brother, might be able to help you out if you want some help !!!
If you car is not calibrated and you did not pace the officer for 1/4 mile, you don't know how fast the officer was driving to catch up with the "slowing" veh. which then made a right turn. If you can't prove it, don't waste your time..................
What the Cop is doing isnt that bad! I dont condone cops that constantly do this, but its a great way to catch speeders, who endanger the publics safty. Take the Catherine Johnston incedent for exsample, I was angerd at how quickly the cops acted on a bribe-tip, But i was also angerd because she just started shooting at the cops, and they didnt suprise her because she probably doesent walk around with a gun in her hand
Another Department that commonly use Illegal speed Traps is Doravile. They wait at P-tree Industrial for Motorist to come under the bridge and nail them. If you measure the distance from the bridge to were there parked it's less than 500 ft.
Coming down the Hill in front of City Hall of Duluth. They sit at the bottom of the hill which is less than 500 ft. and they also sit futher up the street which is blocked by foilage and signs by the Grade of the hill. There speed detection is visible but there Motor Cycle is obstructed because they stand in the road. They are supposed to sit on there bike.
So what is illegal about this? The officer was plainly visible for over 500 feet and is a well marked vehicle. He wasn't hiding. How do you miss a big Expedition with Police on the back and a light bar on it?
this john dude is obviously just venting cuz his dumb ass wasn't paying attention and didn't notice that big fucking truck up ahead with some dude who happened to be a cop holding some thing that turned out to be a radar standing right next to it. quit your bitching and go pay your citation you cunt.
watching this video taught me one thing....you need to get a life and leave the officer who is clearly doing his job alone...are you stalking him or what...hey go get a job
you think i really care about a corvette...waste of money on your part buddy you could have gotten something better for your buck.....twice youve proven your ignorance now....can we go for a third maybe
anything with two brain cells to rub together would choose a better occupation than that. with the same small-minded, petty mindset you exhibit, you're a perfect candidate for a police officer.
some perks include: being allowed to break the law you're hired to enforce (and letting other cops do the same) without consequence, carrying a gun, bullying the public (without consequence), beating minorities, vengeance on the society that failed you, etc.
first off police officers do not break the law you frigin moron. they are allowed to carry weapons just like everyone else who is twenty one years or older and is not a convicted felon. only some one with a warped mind would speak so badly of the people who make sure your unappreciative a@# is safe at night from the dumba@#es that you probably hang out with. and for your information i am planning to work for a federal agency, not city police because the pay is too low to deal with sh@ts like you
well i'm sorry if you have had a bad experience with corrupt officers. but usually when you see officers turning on their blue lights, they are doing it for a reason. my dad works for the georgia state patrol so i know all about the nature of the job. when someone sees an officer put their lights on there is more going on than the poeple around him know about so they automatically assume that they are doing something wrong.
what does being foreign have to do with stating that cops break the law? Who the fuck is considered foreign nowadays you prejudice cunt. I'm assuming that your Caucasian because of your ignorance... or blindness I should say.
when did i say anything about someone being foreign. and why are you insulting me. it sounds to me as though you are the one who is racist since you are making stereotypes about me based on things that i didn't even say
Why do you judge the police when you know nothing about their job. Yes, cops do speed going to calls. Some calls don't necessarily fit the guidelines for a code call. Plus, dumbasses on the road get confused when they hear sirens and freak out and pull to the left and cause accidents so they don't use them unless their necessary. Lights and sirens cause accidents many times but the police don't want to respond quickly before the bad guys leave. Quick second guessing them.
a cop doing 20mph over is way of catching speeders. if someone passes a cop doing 20mph over they'll get stopped and if someone out running the cop who is doing 20mph over they'll get stopped. you do know that you have to speed to catch speeders right? and i'm sure you use your turn signals everytime it's apropriate when you're in a hurry since you are perfect. NOT
a cop going 20 over to see who might be passing him is not a valid way to 'catch speeders' in this state. lol put the crack away bro!
Cops are bound to traffic law just like private citizen...the law allows excess speed when emergency lights are used...otherwise they should obey the limits.
This is correct. But sometimes we as Officers don't use our lights and sirents depending on the scene. When on a call to a domestic violence or something similar, we will drive excessive speeds with only our lights on and no siren. Siren will only be deployed if multiple cars are in the way and we cannot just drive around them. I do find your attitude with Officers good though. This doesn't happen often on Youtube. Btw. This isn't illegal in all states but apparently it is in GA. Summons issued?
put away the crack? i have have never touch any illegal substances and i have never been high or drunk. so don't preach to me about illegal substances when i'm planning to be a law enforcement officer. where as you wish you could be one
I've also been standing in line waiting to pay full price for my meal, when the manager's family comes in and it's free for them. I don't complain about it, it comes with the job. The courtesy is b/c that officer is going to help if another officer is in trouble on the side of the road. The average citizen sure as hell won't. They'll just video tape the beating and post it here.
Being able to ignore, nay, be above the law is not a perk, its a double-standard. I read article after article about how cops look the other way as their fellow officers are given a free pass on DUI, speeding, reckless driving, assault, etc.
Of course, you try and portray yourself as an intellect, but you miss the point. I was responding to the one who was bitching about his cop buddy being let go for speeding. That's a courtesy. I never mentioned any of the crimes that you refer to. Of course, it's not acceptable for police to look the way on those offenses. The majority of cops are honest and wouldn't do. Some cops aren't honest. No more percentage of cops are bad than in any other profession.
I never tried to make you look like a moron. Your fancy words don't bother me, it's just annoying when someone uses "fancy" words and their point misses the issue at hand. Do your research about the police before you disagree with percentages. Do you know how many dishonest cops there are? Do you know how many cops there are period? When one cop does something dishonest they make the rest of them look bad. That's why the public's perception is that. I agree with you there. Don't judge them all.
The point is the public perception of the police leans towards dislike and distrust. There must be a reason, some truth behind this. Many of them take an adversarial view of the public, and come across as bullies and assholes. Theyre really nothing more than armed tax collectors.
Of course youre going to say that theyre more honest. Were you not stating earlier that you have family on the force?
Police were created to protect the middle class and upper class. DrunkenDwarfofDeath is right, now is you don't report a corrupt officer, you can face penalties as well.
employees usually get reduced price meals, sometimes for their families too...that manager you saw was ABUSING their power, unless arranged with the owner. Just because you accept it doesn't make it right.
BTW the average citizen would certainly help out an officer in actual distress. You have a pisspoor view of our population...pretty much the average cop attitude, you should be proud.
If I saw a cop getting beat down, I'd pull my 9 and cap perp's ass, thanks!
anything with two brain cells to rub together would choose a better occupation than that. with the same small-minded, petty mindset you exhibit, you're a perfect candidate for a police officer.
some perks include: being allowed to break the law you're hired to enforce (and letting other cops do the same) without consequence, carrying a gun, bullying the public (without consequence), beating minorities, vengeance on the society that failed you, etc.
In my city the local PD was forced to remove any onboard radar from their vehicles. They have to get out into traffic and "pace" you and estimate speed. I was racing a car through traffic and an officer followed us for about 3 miles pacing from a distance until we slowed down and he was able to "catch up". So I ended up getting pulled over (other car got away) and he said he estimated my speed at 70 (it was closer to 100) and he ended up giving me 65... Just remember cops aren't the bad guys
I got a speeding ticket but got it dismissed thanks to OCGA 40-14-17 which requires at the time of trial they must provide a certified copy of approved laser devices to be used by GA dept of safety.
Alright let me ask you this question. Say you work at Walmart. Can I come and video tape you while your working to make sure you are doing everything correct and by the book? Since I am a paying customer, and i'd be paying your salary, I have the right to make sure your doing your job? Please explain.
You're comparing a private job at a private company on private property VS a public servant working for the government. you make no sense.
How about this: You are in a public place and see someone breaking the law...can you create a video documentation of that incidence? Yes..of course you can. What if they are the police, does that mean you have to stop? Of course not!!!
Why Mr. Boozer, I'm still waiting on the link for the Georgia State law makers that say that these speed traps are illegal.
It sure looked like the view of the officers were unobstructed to me. but yet, there you go, following the cops in order to make something out of nothing.
And by the way, if you knew the law and had read it, you would know that he is visible for more than enough distance that is required by the GA code on running speed detection devices...
And by the way, if you'd notice the video description, you'd see that I've actually posted the entire statute right there....now maybe YOU'd like to read it.
This vehicle was obstructed to within 500ft...maybe YOU'D like to explain how it's legal as it is obvious to anyone that it is not legal.
Just because a cop does something doesn't mean it's legal....contrary to how you may have been trained.
500 ft is the law...it's not that hard. Just because someone graduates H.S and passes police academy doesn't make them an attorney or lawmaker any more than the rest of us.
So you're saying that it's ok to speed because of a technicality that may not have even been broken? Here's a tip, just don't speed and you won't ever have to worry about it.
do you know wat a speed trap is? an example of a speed trap would be while you were driving the speed limit went from say 45 to 30 then back to 45 within about a 1/4 mile. thats a speed trap. this is just an officer running lazer on the side of the street. nothing wrong with what hes doing
nothing illegal about that scenario in the state of Georgia...not sure about your state.
if the sign says 35mph, then that's the law buddy...pay your ticket.
this video shows an officer who has obstructed his cruiser from view to within 500 feet. If you care to read the statute I've posted, you'll clearly see how it is illegal.
You know from what I see in these videos I am convinced that you have a thing for stalking Officer Spann. If you wish I might have enough spare time to drop him a line and see if he would like a date with you. That would be easier than following him around with your camera. By they way how safe can driving and holding a video camera or cell phone really be?
Not sure what you mean by "stalking"(?) This was one incident of an illegal speed trap being video-documented in the city of Roswell GA. Nothing more, nothing less.
It is legally impossible to "stalk" a public servant by video-documenting his or her execution of their duties.
We never initiated contact with Spann, and never intended nor wanted any interaction with him at all!
You might want to keep your dates with Ofc Spann to yourself ;-P
Dude all that BS you posted about the state laws is true, but he was in the OPEN in DAYLIGHT. He was not hiding in an alley way or behind a tree. He was parked on the side of a road, in plain view. I bet if you got out and measured you can see he was legal 100% around. You can they can only see him for 10 seconds, FACT at 45MHP a vehicles travels 66 feet. So 66 feet x 10 seconds is 660 feet. So they were 660 feet away from him when they first saw him. GET A LIFE DUDE.
who gives a fuck just go the speed limit and you won't have problems stop trying to change law's that are there to help people you worthless moron who made thsi fucking video should go die in a fire.
I was incorrect, sir. That code section applies only to radar according to a solicitor and judge I spoke to concerning this. They state that although the statute reads the "vehicle" segment, to prove a Laser or LIDAR case, they do not have to lay the foundation in the rules of evidence concerning the vehicle segment. You should be more productive and go to law school. Fight your battle that way.
Georgia Code - Motor Vehicles & Traffic - Title 40, Section 40-14-1
(4) 'Speed detection device' means, unless otherwise indicated, that particular device designed to measure the speed or velocity of a motor vehicle and marketed under the name 'Vascar' or any similar device operating under the same or similar principle and any devices for the measurement of speed or velocity based upon the Doppler principle of radar or the speed timing principle of LASER.
That judge is ignorant and the solicitor is biased. Was it a judge from a crappy court of record (who hasn't even himself passed the GA Bar?)
Read the law Jedi...Speed Detection Device = Laser. Now, please refer to 40-14-7...VEHICLE VISIBILITY!
As I've said in the past...KASE LAW is yet to be determined on this. And one day I will find the MOTHER of all hidden vehicle traps, tape it, get records of ALL those ticketed, and SOMEONE will push it through the kourts
I'm wondering how many times you are going to have to read this....again, Jedi master..please show me where it says "He, not his police vehicle" in OCGA 40-14-7.
******
Georgia Statute
§ 40-14-7. Visibility of vehicle from which device is operated
No stationary speed detection device shall be employed ... where the vehicle from which the device is operated is obstructed from the view of approaching motorists or is otherwise not visible for a distance of at least 500 feet.
in that case, the law implies "No stationary speed detection device shall be employed".
oh wait...how do you get around that one?
See, the law used to say "Device" must be visible...they changed it to say "Vehicle" must be visible. So you slap some batteries in, and hide the car in the bushes, and you think that complies?
It says "No stationary speed detection device shall be employed ... where THE VEHICLE from which the device is operated is obstructed from the view of approaching motorists or is otherwise not visible for a distance of at least 500 feet."
It is not being operated from a vehicle. It is being operated outside, seperate from the vehicle.
In that case, it is apparent "No stationary speed detection device may be employed"
Are you actually trying to say that when the vehicle is behind bushes running dash mount radar, it's illegal....but the officer can get out (with the vehicle still hidden) slap batteries in the device and then it suddenly becomes legal?
Hand-helds weren't available when this law was written. The intent is a 4000lb marked cruiser is visible. It's all due to rampant profiteering by local PDs.
""No stationary speed detection device may be employed" That applies to the VEHICLE being visible. he is not using stationary in a VEHICLE.
"Hand-helds weren't available when this law was written. The intent is a 4000lb marked cruiser is visible"
Well it doesn't matter what the "intent" of the law was. Laws are very specfic. Maybe you should petition the State Legislative Committee to change the law. Then you would have an argument. Otherwise Shut Up.
The "Letter" as well as "Intent" are BOTH important, grab a clue wrh1333.
The law used to say 'device' must be visible...they changed it to 'vehicle' must be visible. The intent is clear, lawmakers want a 4000lb marked vehicle to be plainly visible.
Cop is standing by a vehicle, he gets into vehicle, he makes chase in vehicle....
"vehicle FROM WHICH the device is operated"
..THAT vehicle must be visible.
Now go post some vids of your own and quit boring me
Yes, hand helds were around when the speeding law was written. Hand helds were around first, before they were installed in police vehicles. The officer standing next to his patrol car is an extension of the patrol car. Your video clearly shows the officer's car was marked Roswell Police on the tailgate. The Laser has an effective range of 2500 feet, 500 feet doesn't mean anything. As far as visibility, he was plainly visible for well over 500 feet. Thanks for making a jackass out of yourself.
Obstructed by what? Moving traffic? Do you even know how to judge the distance? 500 feet is not very far. Your video shows an officer following the guidelines of the law. Again, thanks for making a jackass out of yourself.
Obstructed by trees and bushes...it was intentional as you can see the truck is even pulled off the road and onto the sidewalk in an effort to hide the vehicle.
Today those bushes are cut back and this is a hiding spot no more.
He has to sit on the side of the road, where there are bushes. But as far as the measurement, the stripes are 12 feet, but the distance between is closer to 25 feet. I was wrong on that. There are at least 20 stripes. That's over 700 feet. Remember, the lasers also measure distance. He knows how far he is. He's not about to cost his department their permit over some speeding tickets. The range on the laser is thousands of feet, so the 500 feet requirement is a non issue.
The LEO was not inside a vehicle while employing a speed detection device, he was outside. It appeared by the crappy video that he was using a handheld unit that was NOT tethered to the vehicle, therefore your citation of the law was completely irrelevent. Get over yourself and your hatred for the police.
Who ever said anything about "hate"? That's a pretty strong word, my blue lined friend.
In fact I have a healthy respect for the law, and leo's who abide by it.
However I abore those who mis-use power.
ie write tickets for people going 55 in a 40 zone..and then themselves go 55 in that same 40 zone to go get a burrito snack;cause the badge puts them above the law
The law wants to see a VEHICLE for 500 feet...it never intended for cops to slap batteries in the device and hide their cruiser!!
To those who have sided with law enforcement: unless you live in the Roswell/Alpharetta area, I believe you are unjustly condoning the underhanded means these officers employ to (as there quite readily is minimal criminal activity to warrant such an numerous force) raise funds and meet quotas. I don't want to seem ungrateful (on the off-chance that the **** hits the fan), but cloaking their location to issue $100-300 a pop speeding tickets reads more like a fundraiser than a safety measure.
From your angle there is no way to tell if he was visible for 500 feet from to oncoming motorist. Maybe you should have shot a video from a the alleged violators view. From the crappy video it seems that he is in view.
Also there is case law in GA that says an officer NOT in a vehicle shooting laser like this guy must himself be visible for 500 feet NOT his car. Your video proves nothing other than the fact you are a loser and have nothing better to do.
If anyone needs to get a life, its you. "tracking" people on the internet? I dont get it, the only loser ive seen so far is you. I enjoy watching your video's and reading your ignorant rants about how all police officers are out to illegal get people. The only loser in the room is you my friend. Track away, I could care less.
As is apparent at this time, it seems you HAVE since found my video shot 'from the alleged violators view'.
I'm glad you post the way you do, it shows the public just how vicious Law Enforcement Officers really are (moron, looser, get a life, etc). Alpharetta Police doing 80mph on GA400 comming soon...lawbreakers all of them!(Just like every cop's a criminal...)
Who said I am a law enforcement officer. From the way you post you want anarchy. I guess we should totally abolish all law enforcement and let people do whatever the hell they want. You sound like the typical dimwit who had a few tickets or who has been arrested and now hates all police. I guess all cops should quit and "get a life" becuase they are all "losers". You cant back up your allegations with any case law, or anything solid for that matter.
You yourself indicated 'former LEO'...once a leo, always a leo. I fail to see where I've endorsed anarchy. Violating the law as a means of enforcing the law? I could ask if you are a Nazi? Tone it down, or you'll get blocked. Show the public how barbaric LEOs can be!!
Barbaric, no. Highly assertive, yes. Law Enforcement Officers are required to be assertive and maintain a presence of authority since they are the authority. They are required to put their life on the line to protect and serve our community by enforcing laws each citizen must obey by. The citizen also has a legal right to contest any charge against them. They are innocent until proven guilty. If you disagree with something, please just contest it in court instead of bashing officers.
That's quite amusing. LEO's are not vicious people with nothing better to do than bust people illegally. They are sworn to protect and serve their community. The judicial process is there for a reason. Just because they write you a ticket does not mean you are guilty. You are INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. You have a legal right to contest the ticket. It is a right awarded to everyone. In fact, I encourage people to excercise this right if they feel they were charged incorrectly.
Also, you do realize that police officers actually respond to calls without going Code 1 (lights/sirens). There are actually calls that require the officer to not use their lights/sirens. The response time for the call is still judged. It's ignorant to assume Alpharetta Police doing 80mph on GA400 is for pure joy. Also, just because an officer activates his lights to run a light does not mean he just doesn't want to wait. There are many factors that go on behind the scenes.
You are correct. A radar/laser device is not considered stationary or operated FROM THE VEHICLE if an officer is on foot. The officer has to have a clear line of sight, be visible for 500 feet, observe the gradient of the road, and be aware of posted warning signs. Any of these can cause a ticket to be unjust. The view of the officer was not obstructed for over 500 feet, and the vehicle is irrelevant since the radar was not operated from it.
I have ablsolutly no idea what you are talking about for the last 4 posts...Barbaric? Vicious? Code1? etc?? Who are you responding to, the voices in your head back again?
They changed it because of the laser. It's no different than if stationary radar is being used. Laser can only be used in a stationary mode. You keep saying that they're hiding their cruiser. He isn't, it's plainly visible. Do you realize how short a distance 500 feet is? At the Marlins baseball stadium, it's 434 feet to center field. A player can throw a ball and it will roll to home plate. This officer isn't doing anything wrong. He's following the law.
Were you trying to spell quotas? and besides that if a civilian parked his car and got out in a clearly marked turning lane, they would be ticketed. Cops should be out patrolling neighborhoods and protecting the homes of the folks who are out working to pay taxes to pay their salaries.

there is a little law that states that only Commercial vehicle for Hire have to obey the speed limit. I found this in the MUTCD guide for Georgia. this little Information is like crazy but no judge can refute this. Please pass this information around so that this cash cow stops

And what kind of a loser drives around with a video camera. Get a real job...
dmaro01 2 years ago
nothing wrong with what this cop is doing we could see them down the street they could see him
Mclain88 2 years ago
Yeah, your right ! I was wondering about this one myself. He can shoot laser from a horse if need be, unless georgia has some law that states he must be in a or on a veh. of some sort. Other than that, The officer is completely legal. I'm a black officer, and I keep any eye out for the illegal stuff! But the officer's actions are legal.
kingtutt42 2 years ago
Sure, your horse would be your 'vehicle' and that horse must be visible for 500 feet!!!
Hey, thanks for bringing race into the mix...I'm sure it will have a positive impact.
johnboozer 2 years ago
Well "Boozer old boy" sad to inform you of the news. GA code (Motor Veh. & Traf. - Title 40, Sect. 40-14-7 states: No stationary speed detection device shall be employed by Co., Munc., Coll. or Univ., law Enfc. Ofc. where the vehicle from which the device is operated is obstructed from the view of the approaching motorist or is otherwise not visible for a dist. of at least 500 ft. Wow !!!
I guess your going to tell us all that you have calibrated eyes, or the eyes of a eagle ! Right ???
kingtutt42 2 years ago
What was the reason for this post? The statute is already in the description of the video. I've read the law friend.
johnboozer 2 years ago
From the looks of your video, you wouldn't stand a chance in court !!!! or hell for that matter. Your video alone would give a judge all he'd need to throw you and your cam out and laugh about the hole asinine ordeal. The officer can clearly see five hundred feet, if not more. Did you get out and measure where he first saw the veh. and where the veh was when the device gave the speed reading ? I think not ! LOL. Maybe you should try a different profession that won't expose your true mentality.
kingtutt42 2 years ago
Hey booz, I sorry man ! But you left yourself open for that one! "WIDE OPEN" :)
Look, let those officers do their job. I 'm sure this was a ploy to get yourself on "YOUTUBE" and or a possible start in the movie business! But check the want ad's in your local paper and you might get discoverd. Oh, you know what ? I have a cousin that works for a man in Idaho, and his sister's, best friends uncle's garbage mans, son's girlfriend brother, might be able to help you out if you want some help !!!
kingtutt42 2 years ago
Boozy, Both pedestrian and officer can clearly see one another.
TRUST ME !!!!!!!!!! :) Have a nice day !!!!!
kingtutt42 2 years ago
If you car is not calibrated and you did not pace the officer for 1/4 mile, you don't know how fast the officer was driving to catch up with the "slowing" veh. which then made a right turn. If you can't prove it, don't waste your time..................
kingtutt42 2 years ago
u all are dumbasses. its not even illegal for him to shoot laser like that. retards.

If your not speeding why the hell do you care? this is the best way to catch speeders because they will slow down if they see the cop.
orbitofdoom16 2 years ago
It's attitudes like this that cause statements such as "this country is going straight to hell".
It's not legal for cops to do illegal things to catch people doing illegal things.
Heck...from your POV, the best way to catch any criminal to to go busing in, door-to-door, to see what's going on.
Hey! You should have no problem "if you're not doing anything illegal", right?.
CopsGoneWild 2 years ago
What the Cop is doing isnt that bad! I dont condone cops that constantly do this, but its a great way to catch speeders, who endanger the publics safty. Take the Catherine Johnston incedent for exsample, I was angerd at how quickly the cops acted on a bribe-tip, But i was also angerd because she just started shooting at the cops, and they didnt suprise her because she probably doesent walk around with a gun in her hand
orbitofdoom16 2 years ago
Wow. Break the law to catch the law breakers! What a concept. That just might work!!

Its not illegal in Georgia if you can be seen from one direction of traffic.

Duluth also has an illegal speed trap coming down a hill Buford Highway. This is in front of the Court house can you believe it.
brookwest 2 years ago
That's interesting...what is illegal about it?
can you post some video?
johnboozer 2 years ago
Another Department that commonly use Illegal speed Traps is Doravile. They wait at P-tree Industrial for Motorist to come under the bridge and nail them. If you measure the distance from the bridge to were there parked it's less than 500 ft.
brookwest 2 years ago
Can you give a more exact location?
Try to shoot some video.
johnboozer 2 years ago
Coming down the Hill in front of City Hall of Duluth. They sit at the bottom of the hill which is less than 500 ft. and they also sit futher up the street which is blocked by foilage and signs by the Grade of the hill. There speed detection is visible but there Motor Cycle is obstructed because they stand in the road. They are supposed to sit on there bike.

So what is illegal about this? The officer was plainly visible for over 500 feet and is a well marked vehicle. He wasn't hiding. How do you miss a big Expedition with Police on the back and a light bar on it?
atlantacopper 3 years ago
the law clearly states the 'vehicle' must be visible for 500 ft.
"How do you mist a big Expedition?" well, when it's obstructed by trees at a distance within 500ft, it is technically "obstructed"
Have a great day!
johnboozer 3 years ago
That truck is clearly visible for well over 500 feet.
atlantacopper 3 years ago
Look here copper,
That truck is clearly obstructed until about 450 feet.
Keep in mind, cheap fixed zoom video cameras are set a little bit 'wide angle', making things appear a tad more distant.
I agree, from watching this video, the truck looks like it's about 2 miles away.
But reference the video to satellite photos and it is clearly much less than 500ft.
have a nice day!

this john dude is obviously just venting cuz his dumb ass wasn't paying attention and didn't notice that big fucking truck up ahead with some dude who happened to be a cop holding some thing that turned out to be a radar standing right next to it. quit your bitching and go pay your citation you cunt.

some perks include: being allowed to break the law you're hired to enforce (and letting other cops do the same) without consequence, carrying a gun, bullying the public (without consequence), beating minorities, vengeance on the society that failed you, etc.

first off police officers do not break the law you frigin moron. they are allowed to carry weapons just like everyone else who is twenty one years or older and is not a convicted felon. only some one with a warped mind would speak so badly of the people who make sure your unappreciative a@# is safe at night from the dumba@#es that you probably hang out with. and for your information i am planning to work for a federal agency, not city police because the pay is too low to deal with sh@ts like you
yroczepp 3 years ago
right.
i've ridden shotgun with a sheriff's deputy in his civvie when he was pulled over for speeding. he showed his badge and off we went.
they call it "professional courtesy". this is usually referred to a double-standard.
have you ever seen an officer throw on his blues long enough to drive through a light only to turn them off afterward?
there are stories in the news frequently about corrupt cops. one of my ex's parents bought their weed from a cop.
pxlmusic 3 years ago
well i'm sorry if you have had a bad experience with corrupt officers. but usually when you see officers turning on their blue lights, they are doing it for a reason. my dad works for the georgia state patrol so i know all about the nature of the job. when someone sees an officer put their lights on there is more going on than the poeple around him know about so they automatically assume that they are doing something wrong.
yroczepp 3 years ago
what does being foreign have to do with stating that cops break the law? Who the fuck is considered foreign nowadays you prejudice cunt. I'm assuming that your Caucasian because of your ignorance... or blindness I should say.
colombizzle 3 years ago
when did i say anything about someone being foreign. and why are you insulting me. it sounds to me as though you are the one who is racist since you are making stereotypes about me based on things that i didn't even say
yroczepp 3 years ago
Can you then explain why cops will speed at 20+over WITHOUT their blue lights on? ;-P
most times a cop is at a light, they wait and do it right (except for that pesky turn signal).
johnboozer 3 years ago
Why do you judge the police when you know nothing about their job. Yes, cops do speed going to calls. Some calls don't necessarily fit the guidelines for a code call. Plus, dumbasses on the road get confused when they hear sirens and freak out and pull to the left and cause accidents so they don't use them unless their necessary. Lights and sirens cause accidents many times but the police don't want to respond quickly before the bad guys leave. Quick second guessing them.
VinniesDeathSquad 3 years ago
a cop doing 20mph over is way of catching speeders. if someone passes a cop doing 20mph over they'll get stopped and if someone out running the cop who is doing 20mph over they'll get stopped. you do know that you have to speed to catch speeders right? and i'm sure you use your turn signals everytime it's apropriate when you're in a hurry since you are perfect. NOT
yroczepp 3 years ago
a cop going 20 over to see who might be passing him is not a valid way to 'catch speeders' in this state. lol put the crack away bro!
Cops are bound to traffic law just like private citizen...the law allows excess speed when emergency lights are used...otherwise they should obey the limits.
johnboozer 3 years ago
This is correct. But sometimes we as Officers don't use our lights and sirents depending on the scene. When on a call to a domestic violence or something similar, we will drive excessive speeds with only our lights on and no siren. Siren will only be deployed if multiple cars are in the way and we cannot just drive around them. I do find your attitude with Officers good though. This doesn't happen often on Youtube. Btw. This isn't illegal in all states but apparently it is in GA. Summons issued?
nopiluvin 3 years ago
put away the crack? i have have never touch any illegal substances and i have never been high or drunk. so don't preach to me about illegal substances when i'm planning to be a law enforcement officer. where as you wish you could be one
yroczepp 3 years ago
I've also been standing in line waiting to pay full price for my meal, when the manager's family comes in and it's free for them. I don't complain about it, it comes with the job. The courtesy is b/c that officer is going to help if another officer is in trouble on the side of the road. The average citizen sure as hell won't. They'll just video tape the beating and post it here.
DrunkenDwarfofDeath 3 years ago
Being able to ignore, nay, be above the law is not a perk, its a double-standard. I read article after article about how cops look the other way as their fellow officers are given a free pass on DUI, speeding, reckless driving, assault, etc.
Do you really think the two are equivalent?
Dont be obtuse.
pxlmusic 3 years ago
Of course, you try and portray yourself as an intellect, but you miss the point. I was responding to the one who was bitching about his cop buddy being let go for speeding. That's a courtesy. I never mentioned any of the crimes that you refer to. Of course, it's not acceptable for police to look the way on those offenses. The majority of cops are honest and wouldn't do. Some cops aren't honest. No more percentage of cops are bad than in any other profession.
DrunkenDwarfofDeath 3 years ago
I'm not a moron, but thanks for trying.
I disagree about the percentage of honest cops. The "professional courtesy" is the rule rather than the exception.
If more cops were honest, the public would actually trust them.
pxlmusic 3 years ago
I never tried to make you look like a moron. Your fancy words don't bother me, it's just annoying when someone uses "fancy" words and their point misses the issue at hand. Do your research about the police before you disagree with percentages. Do you know how many dishonest cops there are? Do you know how many cops there are period? When one cop does something dishonest they make the rest of them look bad. That's why the public's perception is that. I agree with you there. Don't judge them all.
DrunkenDwarfofDeath 3 years ago
I haven't missed the point and I'm not trying to use flowery language to obscure anything.
All I'm saying is that a lot us don't trust someone with a chip on their shoulder and a gun at their side.
Also, regarding the "making the rest of them look bad"; how many honest cops speak out against the dishonest ones?
Their silence is their tacit approval.
pxlmusic 3 years ago
Approval? Most corruption is uncovered from within the departments by other officers. When they commit crimes they are arrested by other officers.
DrunkenDwarfofDeath 3 years ago
most corruption is not uncovered at all.
the ones who are busted have fewer connections than the busing officer has aspirations.
cops have a very very long history of corruption and graft....it is well documented and very real.
Most cops are probably good....but those cops want to support their families, and career suicide is not the fast track to paying the mortgage
johnboozer 3 years ago
No...when cops get BUSTED for speeding and dui's etc, it makes them all look bad.

johnboozer 3 years ago
Why are you stalking these guys?
privatepilot78 3 years ago
Im sorry if use of a few fancy words bothers you.
The point is the public perception of the police leans towards dislike and distrust. There must be a reason, some truth behind this. Many of them take an adversarial view of the public, and come across as bullies and assholes. Theyre really nothing more than armed tax collectors.
Of course youre going to say that theyre more honest. Were you not stating earlier that you have family on the force?
pxlmusic 3 years ago

In my city the local PD was forced to remove any onboard radar from their vehicles. They have to get out into traffic and "pace" you and estimate speed. I was racing a car through traffic and an officer followed us for about 3 miles pacing from a distance until we slowed down and he was able to "catch up". So I ended up getting pulled over (other car got away) and he said he estimated my speed at 70 (it was closer to 100) and he ended up giving me 65... Just remember cops aren't the bad guys

Not sure what you mean by "stalking"(?) This was one incident of an illegal speed trap being video-documented in the city of Roswell GA. Nothing more, nothing less.
It is legally impossible to "stalk" a public servant by video-documenting his or her execution of their duties.

Definition of "Speed Detection Device"
Georgia Code - Motor Vehicles & Traffic - Title 40, Section 40-14-1
(4) 'Speed detection device' means, unless otherwise indicated, that particular device designed to measure the speed or velocity of a motor vehicle and marketed under the name 'Vascar' or any similar device operating under the same or similar principle and any devices for the measurement of speed or velocity based upon the Doppler principle of radar or the speed timing principle of LASER.
johnboozer 4 years ago
Incorrect again SIR!

Georgia Statute
§ 40-14-7. Visibility of vehicle from which device is operated
No stationary speed detection device shall be employed ... where the vehicle from which the device is operated is obstructed from the view of approaching motorists or is otherwise not visible for a distance of at least 500 feet.
*****
johnboozer 4 years ago
Fucking retard, the detection device is not being operated from the vehicle. It is out side of the vehicle.
wrh1333 3 years ago
in that case, the law implies "No stationary speed detection device shall be employed".
oh wait...how do you get around that one?
See, the law used to say "Device" must be visible...they changed it to say "Vehicle" must be visible. So you slap some batteries in, and hide the car in the bushes, and you think that complies?
johnboozer 3 years ago
oh wait...how do you get around that one?
It says "No stationary speed detection device shall be employed ... where THE VEHICLE from which the device is operated is obstructed from the view of approaching motorists or is otherwise not visible for a distance of at least 500 feet."
It is not being operated from a vehicle. It is being operated outside, seperate from the vehicle.
wrh1333 3 years ago
In that case, it is apparent "No stationary speed detection device may be employed"
Are you actually trying to say that when the vehicle is behind bushes running dash mount radar, it's illegal....but the officer can get out (with the vehicle still hidden) slap batteries in the device and then it suddenly becomes legal?
Hand-helds weren't available when this law was written. The intent is a 4000lb marked cruiser is visible. It's all due to rampant profiteering by local PDs.
johnboozer 3 years ago
""No stationary speed detection device may be employed" That applies to the VEHICLE being visible. he is not using stationary in a VEHICLE.
"Hand-helds weren't available when this law was written. The intent is a 4000lb marked cruiser is visible"
Well it doesn't matter what the "intent" of the law was. Laws are very specfic. Maybe you should petition the State Legislative Committee to change the law. Then you would have an argument. Otherwise Shut Up.
wrh1333 3 years ago
The "Letter" as well as "Intent" are BOTH important, grab a clue wrh1333.
The law used to say 'device' must be visible...they changed it to 'vehicle' must be visible. The intent is clear, lawmakers want a 4000lb marked vehicle to be plainly visible.
Cop is standing by a vehicle, he gets into vehicle, he makes chase in vehicle....
"vehicle FROM WHICH the device is operated"
..THAT vehicle must be visible.
Now go post some vids of your own and quit boring me
johnboozer 3 years ago
Yes, hand helds were around when the speeding law was written. Hand helds were around first, before they were installed in police vehicles. The officer standing next to his patrol car is an extension of the patrol car. Your video clearly shows the officer's car was marked Roswell Police on the tailgate. The Laser has an effective range of 2500 feet, 500 feet doesn't mean anything. As far as visibility, he was plainly visible for well over 500 feet. Thanks for making a jackass out of yourself.
VinniesDeathSquad 3 years ago
read the statute again, Mr Death.
It clearly states the 'vehicle' must not be 'obstructed' or otherwise 'not visible' for 500 ft.
Officer was visible, but the vehicle was OBSTRUCTED to well within 500 ft.
johnboozer 3 years ago
Obstructed by what? Moving traffic? Do you even know how to judge the distance? 500 feet is not very far. Your video shows an officer following the guidelines of the law. Again, thanks for making a jackass out of yourself.

Obstructed by trees and bushes...it was intentional as you can see the truck is even pulled off the road and onto the sidewalk in an effort to hide the vehicle.
Today those bushes are cut back and this is a hiding spot no more.
johnboozer 3 years ago
true he is obstructed but he is visible from the point of radar contact so its legal
fireman549549 3 years ago
He has to sit on the side of the road, where there are bushes. But as far as the measurement, the stripes are 12 feet, but the distance between is closer to 25 feet. I was wrong on that. There are at least 20 stripes. That's over 700 feet. Remember, the lasers also measure distance. He knows how far he is. He's not about to cost his department their permit over some speeding tickets. The range on the laser is thousands of feet, so the 500 feet requirement is a non issue.

How did he not see you I mean wow what a thick cop. Thats actually quite funny.

Oh, and the ordinance that you cited said STATIONARY device. A handheld unit is not "stationary".

Gold....Solid Gold!!!
"handheld unit is not stationary"...
I mean....ROTFLOL!!!!
johnboozer 4 years ago
The LEO was not inside a vehicle while employing a speed detection device, he was outside. It appeared by the crappy video that he was using a handheld unit that was NOT tethered to the vehicle, therefore your citation of the law was completely irrelevent. Get over yourself and your hatred for the police.
esh535920 4 years ago
Who ever said anything about "hate"? That's a pretty strong word, my blue lined friend.
In fact I have a healthy respect for the law, and leo's who abide by it.
However I abore those who mis-use power.
ie write tickets for people going 55 in a 40 zone..and then themselves go 55 in that same 40 zone to go get a burrito snack;cause the badge puts them above the law
The law wants to see a VEHICLE for 500 feet...it never intended for cops to slap batteries in the device and hide their cruiser!!

Whatever you have to say to make you feel better about yourself, man. Whatever.

To those who have sided with law enforcement: unless you live in the Roswell/Alpharetta area, I believe you are unjustly condoning the underhanded means these officers employ to (as there quite readily is minimal criminal activity to warrant such an numerous force) raise funds and meet quotas. I don't want to seem ungrateful (on the off-chance that the **** hits the fan), but cloaking their location to issue $100-300 a pop speeding tickets reads more like a fundraiser than a safety measure.
poppinfresh7777777 4 years ago

Track away, I could care less.

what fuck u what videos and what ignorant rants, faggot
soldier727dl 4 years ago
As is apparent at this time, it seems you HAVE since found my video shot 'from the alleged violators view'.
I'm glad you post the way you do, it shows the public just how vicious Law Enforcement Officers really are (moron, looser, get a life, etc). Alpharetta Police doing 80mph on GA400 comming soon...lawbreakers all of them!(Just like every cop's a criminal...)
johnboozer 4 years ago
Who said I am a law enforcement officer. From the way you post you want anarchy. I guess we should totally abolish all law enforcement and let people do whatever the hell they want. You sound like the typical dimwit who had a few tickets or who has been arrested and now hates all police. I guess all cops should quit and "get a life" becuase they are all "losers". You cant back up your allegations with any case law, or anything solid for that matter.
2204Alpha 4 years ago
You yourself indicated 'former LEO'...once a leo, always a leo. I fail to see where I've endorsed anarchy. Violating the law as a means of enforcing the law? I could ask if you are a Nazi? Tone it down, or you'll get blocked. Show the public how barbaric LEOs can be!!
johnboozer 4 years ago
johnboozer keep up with the good videos i like them
soldier727dl 4 years ago
Barbaric, no. Highly assertive, yes. Law Enforcement Officers are required to be assertive and maintain a presence of authority since they are the authority. They are required to put their life on the line to protect and serve our community by enforcing laws each citizen must obey by. The citizen also has a legal right to contest any charge against them. They are innocent until proven guilty. If you disagree with something, please just contest it in court instead of bashing officers.
Swiftblaze85 4 years ago
That's quite amusing. LEO's are not vicious people with nothing better to do than bust people illegally. They are sworn to protect and serve their community. The judicial process is there for a reason. Just because they write you a ticket does not mean you are guilty. You are INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. You have a legal right to contest the ticket. It is a right awarded to everyone. In fact, I encourage people to excercise this right if they feel they were charged incorrectly.
Swiftblaze85 4 years ago
Also, you do realize that police officers actually respond to calls without going Code 1 (lights/sirens). There are actually calls that require the officer to not use their lights/sirens. The response time for the call is still judged. It's ignorant to assume Alpharetta Police doing 80mph on GA400 is for pure joy. Also, just because an officer activates his lights to run a light does not mean he just doesn't want to wait. There are many factors that go on behind the scenes.
Swiftblaze85 4 years ago
You are correct. A radar/laser device is not considered stationary or operated FROM THE VEHICLE if an officer is on foot. The officer has to have a clear line of sight, be visible for 500 feet, observe the gradient of the road, and be aware of posted warning signs. Any of these can cause a ticket to be unjust. The view of the officer was not obstructed for over 500 feet, and the vehicle is irrelevant since the radar was not operated from it.
Swiftblaze85 4 years ago
I have ablsolutly no idea what you are talking about for the last 4 posts...Barbaric? Vicious? Code1? etc?? Who are you responding to, the voices in your head back again?
johnboozer 4 years ago
Who is correct?!? Who the heck are you talking to?!?
Also, please cite the statute and/or case law which gives the definition of 'Stationary Speed Detection Equipment' as NOT ON FOOT(?!)
The statute is VERY CLEAR:
STATIONARY LASER/RADAR may NOT be used unless the VEHICLE is VISIBLE!
How are you going to chase down the suspect? Oh, a vehicle? THEN THAT VEHICLE MUST BE VISIBLE!!!
Statute USED to say 'Device' must be seen. Now it says VEHICLE must be seen. hmmm wonder why they changed it?
johnboozer 4 years ago
They changed it because of the laser. It's no different than if stationary radar is being used. Laser can only be used in a stationary mode. You keep saying that they're hiding their cruiser. He isn't, it's plainly visible. Do you realize how short a distance 500 feet is? At the Marlins baseball stadium, it's 434 feet to center field. A player can throw a ball and it will roll to home plate. This officer isn't doing anything wrong. He's following the law.
