  • Mine did that a little while back. It turned out to be a vacuum leak at the pcv valve. Did you have I checked for vacuum leaks?

  • Its a Ford.

  • I had the same thing going on with mine, it would flutter and stall when I would stop I ran fuel injector cleaner through it and that seemed to help

  • @POWERSTROKEF350MAN thts bc im still in highschool?? retard u dont even no how old i am n only a fag like you would comment on a 8month + comment so whos the lowlife faggot??

  • your maf sensor is bad repaceit

  • do you have the vct motor in this car???

  • @fmartinez2580 yes the motor is vct, almost all fords from the very end of the 97 gen's and up are vct. the idle problem was a mixture of an air leak, and also i found out that i had a loose connection so the little extra electrical drain from the brake lights was sparsing the fuel pump which shot my fuel filter so the low fuel pressure caused the rpm drop. Fixed the air leak the connection and a new fuel filter and problem was solved. Needs a new fuel filter every few months though...XD idk y

  • @fmartinez2580 also, the idle up when gear is engaged is due to the vct, picks up rms to reduce lag with the automatic gear change. which leads to less wear over the gears life

  • least ur contour HAS a rpm gauge...my 95 contour doesnt! and im having the same problem.

  • I dont know why the rpm needle moves but i think that the reason the engin is ideling hard might be the moter mounts that have gone bad we have had the same idling problem with our countour till we changed tho mounts

  • well its a ford so im not suprised wit they problem

  • @shivam220 AND YOUR A DUMBASS AND IM NOT SUPRISED YOU DIDN'T FINISH HIGH SCHOOL!! haha

  • i had the same problem, my intake gasket was cracked

  • well i solved my problem. air leak in the vaccum hose that runs from the back of the intake manifold to the egr.

  • im not sure why everyone but i said gas pedal two or three times, and i meant the brake pedal...its making the rpms bounce when sitting still
