I'm crazy for a Tim Truman CD release of Miami Vice (I'm finger crossed it will be on CD, and not on download format, as I live outside the USA and maybe the download offer won't be legally available in my Country). Do you have a "no ep dialogue" version of "Everything's Inside Of Me" from "Redemption in Blood" episode? That's my favorite!
@s0nnyburnett Thanks! I'm sorry I took so long to answer you. It's just that I only saw now (when visiting again your page) your reply! Keep up the good work. MV rules (but considering your nickname I bet you already know it)!!!!
This totally makes sense, because I remember comparing this music to Melrose Place. Truman did the music for Melrose as well. Didnt know at the time, though.
Yes, how atmospheric this is, as was all Tim's music of course... the show really came to life when he took over the soundtrack. I too, spoke to him a few years ago (only via email!) and found what a nice chap he was, really taking time out to answer my questions, and how it was Michael Thompson who laid all the guitar parts down and etc... if only everyone was as friendly and forthcoming as this.
1:32 Always makes me kinda sad... the last episode and all, end of the 80's... man, i wish i had lived the 80's... i really feel like i belonged there...
Miami Vice was the best television show there is, there was and there ever will be
@HMSa77 true... this was when Crockett take a last look at his boat :'( ....they way he looks speaks for all the years he spent there... SIGH..... best scene ever.. too deep and too real...Miami vice forever!
i can just imagine the guys at Vice HQ ."did Crockett hand over the Ferrari ? OTHER GUY : no i think he took it with him Costillo : WHAT? it was worth over $80,000
I live in Miami now, and the city has nothing to do today with that era. Back in those days Miami was a new frontier, you had racing cars running all over downtown! speed boat competitions, it was the Monaco of the US, specially thanks to the show.
But today oohing of that vibe exists. I blame that to the big lower intellectual level of latin americans taking over the area. Poor people without vision of anything, that is why Miami is an empty carcass as wee speak.
@vjrei How sad. Seemed like it's had a very special age-of-glory. Hopefully someone can resurrect it; in another economy, in another generation. Race cars, off shore race boats, that whole era...WOW!
@jmjfanss Those buildings are empty and are horrible inside. Those are warehouses with make up on top 90% of them. I live close to downtown Miami and my father is an architect and I am a visual artist and I can tell when something is original and something is pretending.
@vjrei I live here too, lived here all my life and I REALLY feel more like a stranger than I did back then. It's insane how much has changed, and is still changing. They need to put a "No Vacancy" sign over this city, because it's TOO DAMN CROWDED. The 80s charm is completely gone, replaced by hundreds of thousands of unused condo complexes and steroid juiced-up douchebags everywhere...
if you all like this music from this episode, you should look into some "tangarine dream" they did music for "risky business", "legend", and michael manns first film "thief".........great music for those of you in search of great music. good luck. gotta to get back to "last of the mohicans"
Jan Hammer is amazing, but Tim Truman more than held his own. I wish the show would have lasted longer, we could have experienced a lot more music of this caliber.
I agree, as do many, but the show had run out steam creatively. In fact, the finale "Freefall" was not one of the best from a season that wasn't that great.
Better to have had the show end rather than go on and become something we wouldn't want it to become.
Agreed. The creative people behind it abandoned it in Season 3. The actors, no matter how cool they are, can only work with what the screenwriters give them.
I had hoped that after the last episode that there would be a reunion type show or movie years later instead of a new remake. Would have been cool to see what became of Crockett, Tubbs, Gina, Castillo, Zito. (Switek had been killed off). The mid 80s was sort of a fun time but tumultous.. I still have a blue version of Crockett's jacket (mint condition) that I bought back then.
Hi Rans. You're right, thanks! It was Zito. I remember being so shocked when I saw that episode. Never thought that a main character would be killed off. But turns out he wanted to leave. I've always felt that if the producers/directors had given him & "Switek" more significant participation instead of the usual here-and-there bits, his character could have been much better developed. He was sharp but back then many of us viewed Zito and Switek as a sort of the "comedy relief" team.
I've been looking all around for something that comes close to the outfits worn in Miami Vice, but no luck. I tried 3 different thrift stores, and I doubt any "nice" suite stores would carry them.
HI Pz3shwks. Back then in 1985, I paid $45 dollars. I remember that for years they seemed to be a dime-a-dozen. Now that exact style is difficult to find. One thing: Talk to people that you know who are over the age of 40. Lots of us bought those outfits and still have them stored in the closet. They have also shown up at Goodwill type stores too. Just takes a bit of looking and asking around. :-)
The finale was solid. Crockett was burned out when the show started in 1984. By 1989, after seeing his character go through so much, his admittance that he couldn't change things was ultimately poetic when he left Vice behind in "his stolen car"
@spacesculptures i think what ended it for crockett was when he lost his memory , all through season 5 he lost any hope . something tells me Don Johnson felt the same
@s0nnyburnett They should of added clips of happy times as well as sad times but in slow motion. Really loved this show from beginning to end. I even cried when they ended it. My Fridays weren't the same after that. Thanks for the great Yrs Miami Vice.
Does Tim have a active fan site, Facebook, etc? Although I would love to get a compilation CD, I would certainly download these indiviually if he has them available.

I'm amazed at how rude many drivers are and that road rage is so common. Still, there are some fun places to visit, like Coconut Grove, Bayside, the beaches, etc.
Come on Tony, Miami is NOT even within the list of the 15 most dangerous cities in USA, it is #19. I was there last year and the place was pristine. In fact, it was voted the cleanest city of USA. South Beach, Coral Gable, Little Havana, Downtown... I didn't see a single pothole in any street. That is something I can't say even for Washington DC, the capital. Your traffic claim is also exaggerated, driving in Miami is a piece of cake, go to LA, DC, or northern NJ, to see real screwed traffic.
True. Tony is thinking of the Miami from the 70s that was part of the inspiration of Miami Vice. As the show progressed, Miami cleaned up dramatically. Ironically, Miami's development is almost entirely from drug money/laundering.
Anybody know what music is being played in this episode during the gunfight when Crockett & Tubbs shoot down General Borbon's plane, just before the standoff with Baker - sounds a bit like Foreigner ?
I am a huge keyboard fan, and the only thing that can compare to the melody of 1:33 through 2:40 is Whitesnake's Here i Go Again, thanks to Bill Cuomo's "keyboard heaven".
this is the music that made miami vice the hit series that it was.....very moving and emotional. when the 'score' in any production manages to touch your soul like this one does....then its 99% of the way there...!!!
I agrfee that the show peaked after 2 years. I think the actors got a little too full of themselves, Don Johnson threatened to quit, and the whole production staff wasn't hungry anymore.
Did you know that if Don Johnson did leave, Mark Harmon was already in line to take his place?
Still: I like to watch these episodes now and, compared to what is on television today, it is good entertainment.
cementjob, I disagree. I have all five seasons on dvd and I think the show never lost its edge and its very own style. Even Tim Truman's score fit the bill just like Jan's. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was Crockett's ever growing head of hair. But then again, I always had my eye on the hair and every other part of the persons and anatomies of the two female detectives, Gina and Trudy. :)
no the show definetely lost it's edge. After 10 episodes into season 5, it all starts to go down, because Crockett and Tubbs are barely in the same episodes.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Not really. Most MV fans believe they were unique but not really the best series on television. And seasons 3-5 aren't considered to be very good MV episodes even by die-hard fan estimates.
good news people! apparently Tim has managed to convince Universal to release his music! we don't know what format its going to be in, but we do know Tim is going to put all his best tracks on it!
from 1:33 to 4:10 is nothing but tears for me. one of the saddest pieces i have ever heard in my life. if you dont feel the tears welling up, then you are not human.
markusschultzfan, i agree. From 0:00 to 1:32 basically describes the intensity that Miami Vice brought to us in the 80s, and from 1:33 to 4:10 its like we were saying goodbye not only to Miami Vice, but to the 80s as well, and all the good times that came along with it. Really sad/touching/
You're so right, Louie77. As far as I'm concerned, the whole of the 90's pretty much sucked but in the 80's I lived my youth to the max. I must add that the new millenium has also been pretty good to me. :)
If you really want this track, just download the video from here, and pull the audio of it and convert to the file type you need,mp3,..etc, ive downloaded vids ok, but never tryed this so please dont ask me how,but i know people who have so it must work.
hey i was just wondering how i could get this song from you i remember watching the last episode and i went to my computer to try and find it but had no luck so im glad that you posted this hope to hear from you soon thanks.
I was born the year miami vice premiered on tv, so i was too young to remember the show when it was on the air. I have the first 3 seasons on dvd, and i plan to buy the last two seasons, this music is great, not as good as jan hammer, but it worked well with the show, i hate tv nowadays, bring back good shows like vice!!!
love the music. please can you send me the mp3 or a link. i was too young to remember Miami Vice when it first aired but im a huge fan now thanks to the DVD release!
it touched my heart long live vice vice will forever be a legand when the series came to the end suddenly the ratings went high that were low after the 4th season but i love all the seasons
some really great music in miami vice although I missed seeing the series on tv when it came on. I got the basic miami vice cd and it's great.

Man, that Tim Truman really knew his job...awesome music. Jan Hammer couldn't have done a better job.

from 1:33 to 4:10 is nothing but tears for me. one of the saddest pieces i have ever heard in my life. if you dont feel the tears welling up, then you are not human.
markusschultzfan 3 years ago 4
I offically belive it not, Im not human.

it was very touching!!!

markusschultzfan, i agree.
