  • Near unbelievable. On the Welk show. Wow.... Almost subversive. Lawrence " we hardly knew ya ".

  • Even though this is really cornball and almost a bastardization of the Bill Haley hit, the musicianship on the LW show was so great that it almost makes up for the rediculousness of the arrangement.

  • @stlgtrace Go sit on a treestump and wish it went up your AZZ.

  • @ClyneDDW Same to you, Moron. I hope you get coal in your stocking because that's what idiots like you deserve!!!

  • Me and my wife got our first TV in 1955. I watched every show until it went off the air, I loved the entertainment.

  • Nice violin bow...

  • DIg that violin bow.

  • All of Welks players were always good. Maybe not as well known as some others but unlike many musicans they often had some stability in their income and residence.

  • Bob Lido bowed that way so he could play chords on all 4 strings.

  • Thats how a 1955 strat sounded when it was new .. if only you could play it .. Buddy certainly can !!

  • Interesting bowing technique on the violin. Wonder why he did that?

  • @spiffywonderboy

I think by using the bow like that he's able to play chords on the violin.

  • Pretty slick! Nice solo spots for "Four String" Bob Lido, Bill Page on clarinet and Barmey Liddell on trombone. Buddy Merrill must have been all of 18 at the time.
