  • These videos are a joy to watch :D thank you!

  • EH!

Bedankt man :D

  • I know this video is very old but my military screen looks nothing like that.

  • @StevenJacobWagner Well you just answered your own question. There's a new version out nowadays.

  • @captnduck Yes I know but that setup looks a lot easier. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but in the current version you have to manually assign each person's gear separately and with different screens for every item. It takes way too long. BTW, great videos. I went from complete noob to somewhat ok. My current fortress is doing terribly but for some reason hordes of migrants keep coming. :-)

  • Your tutorials have gotten me from "What the hell do I do?" to "I get it!" in a short period of time. THANK YOU!

  • Im going to use your tutorials as my bible for this game,

    i need more miners lol

  • How do I keep my Dwarfs from heading near fish-infested waters? I have a perfectly good murky pool next to my fort, clear of fish, but for some reason whenever a dwarf heads out to get a bucket of water for someone, they head 2x the distance to get water from a murky pool infested with fish. I just had to ragequit/load an old save because 9 of my Dwarfs died getting water from that pool. The first one went with his bucket, died, dropped the bucket, and more kept flooding to pick up that bucket.

  • @SnakeTheFox Try setting a zone - water source over the pool that is closer by, that should make em go there i think . Also a tip, if one dwarf dies and others rush to get his stuff, straight into the danger, use the orders menu to set dwarfs to auto-forbid items on dwarves who just died.

Also you can also make near the fish a restricted area in the traffic options, that'll make dwarfs think again about which water source might be closer.

  • @captnduck Thanks for the reply, I ended up building an above-ground well (essentially a well going into an exposed murky pool) so that they would prioritize that instead. Currently my Dorfs are building floors over the water though, for aesthetic reasons and to make it more like a normal well.

Also, thank you for introducing me to Dorf Ortress. I guarantee I never would've been able to get into it as quick as I did (or even at all) without having been linked to these videos.

  • Je kan die ramps ook verwijderen met d en dan z.

  • Ps: 9:20 "Fck. -.-" xD

  • Two hour's of tutorial behind me... xD

  • For some reason I don't have the option to expand the range when building walls (or floors). I have to build them one by one.

    Anyone knows what's happening?

  • Comment removed

  • its not enter-move-enter

you use u/m to lengthen/shorten vertically

    and h/k to lengthen/shorten horisontally

  • There's another designation you can use that will remove slopes and ramps. Probably more efficient than leaving them and removing the dirt they're adjacent to.

  • (d)esignate > (r)emove ramps/up stairs

  • i dont know if his version has that... although i was thinking the same thing

  • Kobolds are small lizards not goblins.

  • small FURRY lizards

  • When your marksdwarfs train, do they waste ammunition? Also I was experimenting with butchering/tanning/leatherworking and made a quiver. Am I right in thinking that a dwarf carries 5 bolts in hand, and 5 extra in his quiver?

    Great tutorial anyways.

  • Are you usng version 40d or higher? It might be set in the option menu that any thing dropped by enemies is istantly forbidden, this is to prevent your entire population running out and picking up all the goblins cp to return it to the stockpile.

To counter that, there is a designation. [d], [b], [c], claim. Using this you can claim all the items dropped by the enemies, and your dwarves will come get it, do this when there arent any enemies around ofcourse. Im going to mention this in a vid

  • I have a problem. I've killed several kobold thieves and goblin kidnappers, they drop several items, daggers, armor ect. Is there any way dwarves can loot their corpses for their belongings. I figured they would just automatically do it with the item hauling option on. That doesnt seem to be the case. Help from anyone would be great, thanks.

  • Good video, thanks for this

  • just a little note but you can remove ramps with [d] and then [z](remove upwards stairs and ramps)

  • Yay, was waiting for this.

Thanks for the vid, great as always.
