I saw one of these for sale at the AMA Vintage Days in Mid-Ohio this year. It was clean and shiny! They wanted $24,000. Oh how I wish I had 24k... Lovely bike my friend.
I'd make this my daily driver. Rings may be wore out, letting oil past the pistons. Try maybe a 4 cylinder can of "Engine Restore" and use only half, in the gas tank, or maybe some "No Smoke" (I'm kinda not so swift on that though), and braze the holes in your exhaust with acetyln torch. Otherwise, don't restore her, you'd destroy this barn find beauty.
Just a tip, drain the engie case of oil before you start. This happends often after the bike has been standing unused for a while, the oil pump leaks oil into the the case. I have a valve instead of a plug to drain the engine to avoid this heavy smoking. Else i must say you have a real nice piece of bike ther, i wish you many miles on the road with it.
