I heard you say that there is not antivenin for the lubricus lubricus and you treat it symptomatically. What are they symptoms of a bite from one? not much online about them
Thank you for another well done episode. Look forward to seeing more of your work.
I am an amateur collector and all of mine are constrictors. i have 2 retics and a red tail. Working on getting a green anaconda. i have been trying to talk my fiance into letting me gt a false water cobra but she says "Hell No". guess i got to listen to the woman :) Your videos are very entertaining and educational at the same time. Than k you again.
I know there are no such thing as a venomous snake with "training wheels", but in your opinion would you rather start with red spitters, or a coral cobra??
I make the videos up as I go along depending on mood and available video. This one had some nice video.
I use a "lab" wash bottle to water the snakes most of the time. Big nasties I will use a garden sprayer because there is more distance bettween me & the pointy end.
Cecil B de Cortiz - Miss Mamba is ready for her eyeball closeup LOL - seriously great shots Al thanks !! - those Coral Cobras are willful little beauties aren't they.

PS I am sure we are all so intrigued what you couls not show us, Bob was wearing womens clothing??
She/he is very calm and I had no rodent scent on me, so I was comfortable with it being that close. Remember they react to "Food & Fright" if neither is present, they are calm.
I have a question for you. I should have noticed this before being a follower of your videos and this may be a dumb question. But as far as i can remember the mamba is the only snake i have seen with eyes cylindrical as opposed to the "typical snake eye" why is that?
Mr. Viperkeeper, I have a question. I have a Hopi Rattlesnake and he has failed to eat for the last month and a half. I have tried everything from full sized mice like he ate the first 3 times, to a heated up drowned mouse, and even a heated up pinkie. I have cleaned his aquarium several times and he seems to be drinking on a regular basis. Today I got him heated up, put him in a bucket and placed a mouse with him..he never even got more than a few rattles before cowering away. What to do?
Well it's time for them to chill for the winter but still it's not a good sign. This is Viperkeeper's non feeder postulate. Some babies behave just are you described and have a signicant mortality rate. They are just programmed to "die" so to speak and most of the time you cannot alter this path. I have no scientifically valid study to back this up but lots of experience with it over the years. Try a live anole, gecko, or skink of the right size. You may end up forcefeeding it in the end
How would one forcefeed? Such as putting it right in it's face and hope it opens up? I tried that with a very small mouse that had been drowned in warm water. Its strange because he has been in captivity since July 2. He has eaten 3 full sized mice as seen in my video. I keep my house warm and he has a lamp at one end of his tank. He doesnt seem too aggresive, and has never been a threat when cleaning his tank. I appreciate your input!! Keep up the great vids.
IIRC, you have another video featuring a Wagler's that is a very pale blue....is that a different subspecies, or just a color variant of this (the snakes in the first part of this vid) species? Either way, that was one gorgeous snake (the light blue one).
This whole genus is under revision. All the physical variations we see just may be regional, then again there maybe enough genetic variation to warrant species status.
I read that they have or will split trimeresurus into seven genera. Trimeresurus, cryptelytrops, himalayophis, parias, peltopelor, Popeia, viridovipera. LOL. That's just crazy!
I"ve used up all my allocated fright by watching the news about the world and what's happening to America, so I have no fear left by the time I get to work with my snakes.
From ca,,born and raised in louisiana though,,,first time commenter,,,i was born in the swamp and skinned many a snake,,,love'em,,,you have a water mocc? Sure would like to see one open up and show that white mouth,,keep up the good work.
Viperkeeper, I always wondered, why don't you feed live pinkies? Not for any other reason other than maybe snakes would be more enticed to eating something alive? Just wondering....
Not that I mind per say, but I have always wondered why you don't film live feedings. Worried about PETA jumping all over you for cruelty to rodents or something? I find the effects of venom on mice interesting, nor morbidly so, but interesting nonetheless.
you bring up a great point actually if it wasnt for rats and mice we wouldnt really have any idea how a snakes venom will affect a human being really. and we would of had to test it on human subjects :O or we just couldnt of tested it at all and guessed what snakes are lethally dangerous and what ones arent lol. thanks to mice we now know all of those things.
Well, maybe you could host a private website and do 1 hour specials including maybe some behind the scenes stuff and live feedings somewhere and charge a nominal membership fee to view those. Could be another source of revenue for the Liar. Just an idea you might consider.
Viperkeeper whether you notice it or not, I would like to tell you that your videos have inspired many people like myself to see the beautiful side of these beasts. I love your videos so much and I have to say this is my favorite channel on youtube.

No. Keep in mind that all snakebites are serious medical emergencies and deaths do occur from snakes that are not considered "super deadly" . Every snakebite event is different.
They are all looking great, this was a beautiful mixed bag edition, the colors and patterns were simply amazing on these snakes.the egyptian cobra is really growing. You know Al, sometimes I think we take for granite, the fact that all you go through, to make the video entertaining and close up shots, that you take many risk, and I personally would like to thank you for all you do for us.The videos are always 5 star quaility and the best out there, when it comes to snakes, again thank you! ~Lee
I love the black mamba! I ´ve kept D. angusticeps and D.viridis and both were great to care for! I really loved my D. viridis.. When more c.b.b. black mamba´s will be in te hooby in europe, I might get one

damn your nuts to be that close to a mamba but it is pretty damn awesome!!!

Providing Water Question:
Al, what do you use to provide to your snakes water by hand, a baster?
I know in the past you said you like to do it this way, so you can ensure they are properly hydrated.
BTW, this video has the most beautiful snakes from beginning to end I have seen in a long time!
Thank you!

The vertical pupil is found, 99% of the time, in Viperids. Elapids, 99% of the time have round pupils
