  • I have the original 1984 vhs of Robin Hood. It doesn't show the walt disney and you promo, and it's in a white clamshell. The lid is brown by FUJI. Is it from 1985?!

  • An UK Copy Of The Jungle Book?

  • you make opening a vhs look hard.

  • It's not unless the case is in pristine condition

  • How did you get the movie Dumbo twice?

  • I got the Dumbo video where it shows Dumbo and the mouse coming out of Dumbo hat. On the front of the box. On the back the box it shows the train and the crows.

  • That would be either the classics series from 1989-1991 or the Masterpiece Collection.

  • i love the original walt disney home video covers very retro and nostalgic

  • fuck

  • Can you upload a video about you watching the opening to Dumbo 1981 Vhs and Betamax, please?

  • Eventhough early Disney videos had a frame of the movie on the cover, the "Dumbo" tape appears to have original artwork.

  • Never Mind.

  • Where did you find "Walt Disney's Comedy And Magic Revue"?

  • I actually did manage to find a copy of that very tape from a book sale (not from a library mind you). I'm kind of lucky I found it because I know they go for at least $50 on eBay and I only got it for only two to three dollars.

  • I got mine eBay that was somewhere around $10-$20, I don't remember. That was back in October 2006.

  • I HAVE THE INK LABLE RELEASE OF DUMBO

  • woopdy fucken doo disney

  • if u cant say anything nice then dont say it!

  • How do you get rental only and preview sales tapes?!

  • I got them on eBay. Somehow, people manage to get them. Same thing with records, promo only copies/not for sale copies show up on eBay and in record stores.

  • The Dumbo VHS tapes are bit of messy

  • You are awesome!

  • WOW...I also own the Disney Comedy and Magic Revue...thought I was the only dork who had that haha

  • I have that UK Jungle Book tape!

I ddnt think UK tapes played over in America?

  • UK tapes don't play on American NTSC TVs or video/DVD players. I need PAL or multi-region equipment to play the tape, like the Panasonic AG-W1 multi-region VHS player.

  • Where Did He(Imaximation80)Get The UK Jungle Book Tape?

  • Its one of the Easiest Disney movies to get hold of in England, I lived there for some time. You can still get it on Ebuy (UK) for less then £1 (Thats $2)so If you want a copy, theyre not too hard to get. My UK copy has this really weird Muppet Video Promo at the end that freaked me out when I'm little, so if you get the copy with that on, you've got a first release.

  • To lemonsters08: My copy has The Muppets video promo on it, along with a trailer for "Beauty and the Beast" on video and an ad for Euro Disneyland. The print date is somewhere around October 1993.

To NickelodenVHSVideos: I got the tape on eBay for about 3.87 USD.

  • Mine Goes like this: Part 1: 1.Blue Warning Screen 2.Closed Caption Info 3.WDHV Logo 4.Beauty And The Trailer 5.The Muppet Christmas Carol Trailer 6.Euro Disney Promo 7.Stay Tuned 8.WDHV Logo Part 2: 1.End Of Film 2.Muppets Video Promo
  • That's what's on my copy. I heard that the Classics logo wasn't used on UK tapes. I wonder why.

  • Yeah, they were stuck with the 1986 WDHV Logo! Although a new logo began use in 1995 with these bouncy letters that spelt out "Disney Videos" and Mickey's head in the background with some cheerful music playing over it.

  • You should upload that tape. I've done it by putting my camera on a triod.

  • I had that video too, in the same order, except mine had a small trailer for Aladdin after the closed caption info and before the WDHV logo, but now I have the DVD and the quality on the tape was pretty bad so i had to throw it out :(

  • I'll have to check my tape as It hasn't been played in over a year.

  • Have you ever heard of Touchstone Pictures' movie "New York Stories" on it.

  • I noticed that the words "NTSC Standard" are missing on the label for your 1986 "Robin Hood" tape, as well as the black line between the film's title and the tape information, so that means you must have a 1987 version.

  • At 3:23, I can hear a voice.

  • Yeah, that was my friend telling me that the camera was ready.

  • Oh, I see.

  • Actually systemoperator, silk-screens didn't happen until 1989, because HomeOfTheGoodGuys has a 1989 copy of "Mary Poppins" and has the silk-screening labels, possibly.

  • HomeoftheGoodGuy's copy is a re-print version from 1990, so silk-screen labels are still from 1990. Also, the original print has the horizontal white label, and came out in 1988.

  • I have the 1986 release of "Dumbo", except that it has the Cheesy "Black Diamond" Logo.

  • awesome

  • A lot of my cousins earlier Disney VHS tapes are starting to deterierate/become unplayable. She never played them often ether. My Disney collection (Which is fully complete now) is all on DVD. I'm glad I didn't go the VHS route for the simple fact of what happened to my cousin. Waste of an investment.. I have Beauty and the Beast and Lion King on VHS.. The Lion King I got as a rental purchase, and it's starting to show bad play on the VCR.. Just don't last I suppose :P

  • On second thought, I take that back. I now say the 1988 VHS of "Dumbo" was December 20, 1988 because "Very Merry Christmas Songs" came out that day and they were lazy to think of a release date, so that's when it happened.

  • Like they were too lazy to make silk screening labels in the 1980's

  • Silk-screen labels didn't happen until 1990, of course.

  • Old labels know a day peel off its cause the video is frequently watched

  • Yep.

  • I've found some VHS from the 80's ink labels are in good condition

  • You mean, 90's. Yes, they are in good condition because they're just written on there, and can't just peel off.

  • Sorry that was a typo I meant labels

  • But still, you're right about the ink labels.

  • AW fuck you for blocking me. And Lemonsters08 is a spammer.

  • No, he's not! You are!

  • U!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What? What were you about to say, "f*** you!"?

  • There's also another copy of "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" with the blue lines label.

  • In current, modern days, all "rental only" videotapes from the 80s often have the "rental only" rule expired.

  • Is the Dumbo video befre they decided to make rentals and for sale videos ?

  • QUIT WITH THE NUMERALS

  • Yeah the videos are hard to find

  • I Wonder I Called Cast of wishes VHS 1986

this is a movie in jarurday of 1942

  • I Mean January of 1942

  • I Wonder I Called Cast of wishes VHS 1986

this is a movie in jarurday of 1942

  • Is the Robin Hood video the one where the Classics is on top and Robin's face is at the bottom ?

  • Is the Dumbo video is the label peeling or is it not

  • Hey imax I read about BETA It turns out the US movie chose the VHS to distribute films for rental and by 1988 Sony stopped making BETAMax tapes

  • Hey, I remember that "Revue" tape. One of my local video rental stores had it, and this was back in the mid-90s. Was that a rare find?

  • There were a bunch of them on eBay back when I got it (fall 2006). I bet there's at least one copy on eBay, or more.

  • Can you upload the intro to Dumbo

  • I can see the dirfference with VHS and BETA VHS case is big and BETA case is small

  • Beta cassettes are smaller than VHS tapes as well, so a smaller case is needed. By 1987, they packaged Beta tapes in VHS cases, but with these hubs that would keep the tape in place.

  • Can you play BETA tapes in a VCR or will the VCR have trouble playing the tape

  • A Beta tape won't play in a VCR. You need a Betamax player to play them. Beta was a whole different format. VHS players are now known as VCRs since Beta has disappeared from the market.

  • Where do you get Betamax players ?

  • eBay.

  • What do you type in

  • Do you have a BETAMax

  • Just put in Beta player or Betamax. I don't have Betamax so I can't play those videos.

  • I meant the VHS version of Dumbo

  • I can still play that video, it still works fine.

  • I'm thinking about trading im my 1998 print of Dumbo for the 1991 print

  • Hmm, I said keep every video you have. The more the merrier I say.

  • Yeah but I only have 6 Classics tapes I want more

  • Okay but I'd like a copy of the 1991 VHS

  • Pretty soon I'll have all the Classics that my Aunt Nancy has

  • Do you mean to tell me in VHS cases they move all over the place ?

  • You know if you took off the UK label and the s from classics and stuck it on Walt Disney it would make a prefect re-issue case

  • Is this the second version with the claasics logo on top and Robin Hood's face at the bottom

  • ahhhhh back in the video casseatte days, great stuff :-)

  • If I were to get a UK Disney Classics tape, I'd probably get the first release of "Basil, the Great Mouse Detective".

  • I did get that UK release of Dumbo on ebay

  • I can play the 1981 Dumbo VHS. I played the opening the other day.

  • I think BETA versions of tapes should be rental versions

  • Why do you think that? Just curious.

  • Well it just that I hate BETA tapes cause they look weird

  • As weird as they look, they are collectable. They were competitor of VHS back in the 1980s, and the format lost.

  • I now think BETA tapes are cute

  • There's an older variant of DSAS: vol.2 that has the blue lines tape label.

  • Cool, about the 1988 Dumbo video. Well, mine came with a cover just like that.

  • You have the 1989 version.

  • No. I have a similar cover to the 1988 Dumbo video but VHS is below, while the below at the side says "24 V, VHS, NTSC" and the label has "The Classics, Walt Disney Home Video" but "Dumbo" is underneath it. I wonder what version I have.

  • 1987 version.

  • Oh.

  • Can you tell me what's on your copy of "Dumbo"?

  • Which one? The 1981 copy or the 1988 copy?

  • I'm talking about zeldabaloney2008's copy of "Dumbo".

  • The 1988 copy

  • I think that might be the Oct. 14, 1986 version. Not too sure, I'd have to see it to know what it is.

  • What was with BatB and TMCC in the Jungle Book case

  • UK copy.

  • The UK covers have promotions for other movies inside.

  • The 1985 or 1986 version release

  • I saw a variant of DSAS: vol.12: The Twelve Days of Christmas with the vertical white label.

  • I told Copper20 that the original 1987 print of DSAS: vol.4: The Bare Necessities had the blue lines label.

  • I like the UK Jungle Book tape.

  • Yeah, it's pretty cool with King Louie on the tape label.

  • Good going! I see you take great pride in your Jungle Book PAL tape. ^_^

  • The 1988 VHS of "Dumbo" did not come out on October 4, 1988. The 1988 VHS of "Dumbo" and all the other 1988 re-prints of all the other films actually came out February 5, 1988 because that's the same day the 1988 VHS of "Benji: The Hunted" came out.

  • Are you sure? I heard they were re-released to promote "Cinderella" along with "Three Caballeros" which was printed back in February 1988.

  • Well, I did say it came out February 1988, and those tapes were printed around that same time. They were perhaps printed at the beginning of February, in order to release it on February 5, 1988. To show even bigger proof that it came out on 2/5/88, it also the same day 1988 print of DSAS: vol.3: You Can Fly! came out.

  • Do you still have a Beta player and could you play any of the videos if possible?

  • I don't have a Beta player. I won't get one because I heard they destroy tapes if you rewind them or fast-foward them.

  • Oh I see, I don't have one either just a VCR player not to meintion(among other videos) I have 3 limited gld edition videos 2 are from the 2nd series and the other is from the first series.

  • Can you post the previews of the "Jungle Book" Classics from the UK?

  • My VCR can't play it, but I can tell you what's on there.

  • I kinda wish I can have an All region VCR so I can get the UK videos.

  • If you do play them on an NTSC VCR, you get a jumbled mess of pictures added with chipmunk-like audio/speech. I could figure out the speech so I know what the previews are.

There is a VCR called the AG-W1 that's made by Panasonic, and it plays tapes from "any" country. There's even a world map on the front of it.

  • Can you tell me the previews from your copy of the 1993 UK VHS of "The Jungle Book"?

  • "Beauty and the Beast" video, "The Muppets Christmas Carol" and an ad for Euro DisneyLand.

  • What kind of classics logo doe it have ?

  • It has the 1986 Walt Disney Home Video logo.

  • Did any tapes with a similar 1980-1982 tape label but it was blue have the 1986 WDHV on it?

  • Not that I know of. I think Volume 1 of "Sing-Along-Songs" has it, I'm not sure.

  • Here are some other titles that have that label: "Canine Commando", "A Tale of Two Chipmunks", "Flight of the Navigator", "The Journey of Natty Gann", "The Unsinkable Donald Duck with Huey, Dewey and Louie", "Mickey Knows Best", and "The Importance of Being Donald".

  • It's on Disney VHS 1983-8.

  • I, ah, heard that there was a copy of the 1986 VHS of "Alice in Wonderland" that featured the 1986 FBI warnings & the VDA on there.

  • You must be talking about the 10/14/86 VHS, right?

  • Actually, I think the variant where the 1984 FBI warnings fade came 1st on 10/14/86, then the variant where the FBI warnings slideshowed came out December 23, 1986, then the variant I'm talking about came out January 21, 1987.

  • My printing is from 7/14/88, so it's definitely a later printing. It's for the 1988 release of course.

  • Perhaps, they were still making the 12/23/86 variant around that time.

  • Does that 1986 "Robin Hood" tape have the dark red FBI warnings/video dealer announcement?

  • No, unfortunately. The only 1986 tapes I have that have the warnings/dealer announcement are "Pinocchio", "Sleeping Beauty" and "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah".

  • Then why is the title in B&W on the label, instead of red?

  • I'm not really sure. My "Pinocchio" and "Sleeping Beauty" copies have the title in B&W on the label. The print date is '86 as well.

  • I believe your copy is the 1984 tape, but with a slightly modified label, and there are also some differences on the tape: (1) the video starts right at the FBI warnings, rather than having a few seconds of black before they come up, and (2) the "Walt Disney and You" promo that was on the original 1984 edition is gone.

  • That was my copy that started right at the warnings. It was old and over-used rental. My copy (without the black screen) is not one of many, it's just an overused rental, that's all.

  • Maybe your copy was printed in early 1986, so that could explain the absence of the dark red FBI warnings/video dealer announcement.

  • My copy was printed Spetember 1986 and it has the correct tape label. The other version (the rental), where it starts at the FBI warnings is from 1987, due to the absence of a print date.
