  • Anyone know the best way to cancel momentum with Captain Falcon?

  • So what would best best move to momentum cancel egg roll?

  • I hear Snake's fastest "aerial" is his airdodge for the end lag. Does this mean to momentum cancel that I should airdodge?

  • @JohnZobac

i've heard it too, not sure if it actually is the fastest aerial move, but if so, its better to use airdodge when knocked back horizontally (not vertically, cause you need to fastfall asap and you cant ff out of an ad). anyways, this info is almost useless, cause once you can DI, you will hardly get off the stage with such a horizontal knockback. however, if you fail DIing upwards, you'll probably fail momentum cancelling with an ad, too.

  • so it's DI after DI

  • Extremely useful for everyone and explained very well.

  • Other topics to cover include airdodging (when and for whom it helps or hinders; it can depend which blastzone you're trying to avoid), item-tossing (more of the same), all the complexities for jumping (for which chars it helps and for which situations), and gliding too.

  • Good video. But I'm worried that its many omissions / simplifications will confuse a lot of people. Many of the comments here indicate the complexities that are not covered.

The optimal strategy is very character-dependent. Some B-moves can help fight against knockback (e.g. Diddy), some (shown as DK and G&W, but Yoshi/Sonic/Wario can all be included in this set) completely "brake" the knockback, and some actively push you *away* from the stage.

  • Is Smash DI going to be covered next? Also, can't air dodge be useful in some manner second seeing that it has invincibility frames?

  • @TheStylo91 I doubt anybody's going to hit you if you're that far off stage. Unless it's some sort of deranged ROB or Jigglypuff WOP gimp, then I think the aerial would be the better option.

  • waiting for bizkit to comment saying "i knew it!!!"

  • What, no mention of Yoshi being able to completely cancel momentum with Egg Roll like DK and G&W, GiMR? =/

  • @Poltergust and die right afterwards

  • @anmax It still has its uses; it's just extremely situational.

  • @anmax Not always, plus DK helplessly falls as well so he can either get edgehogged or killed with another Fsmash anyways.

  • @Poltergust and sonic! DownB

  • @wonfsmacho As far as I know, that doesn't automatically cancel momentum, just decreases it by a significant amount.

  • @Poltergust Just out of curiosity, have you ever done it Polt? I've done it once, but I couldn't even get back to grab the ledge on FD so I just died anyway =b

  • @YOSHssb Yes, you can make it back to the ledge if you get knocked to a corner. Of course, you can be easily edge-hogged.... It's most useful on walk-off sections of certain stages.

  • @Poltergust Also you can cancel momentum with zss' down B

  • Called it.

  • isn't better to do aerial + jump + B move than aerial + B move?

  • @borjitaea No, you want to use your Jump as the second-last resort (or last resort as well). Why? Because remember that you are fighting to a Human not a CPU. Remember that the Humans will try to meteor smash, gimp or as well edgehogging. Quick example, if you use your jump and a Falco (or any character that can throw you something like a laser or like Link's arrows) use his B move, you can't use your jump and you will be forced to use your Up move, and here gimp and edgehogging starts.

  • why are you so much more useful than the BBR?

  • If you cancel with wario's bike touching the blastzone, you will die since you are connected to the bike :(

  • @dynomite31 that is false

  • @Roanoke884 false? how so?

  • @dynomite31 each character has a bubble inside of them that corresponds with the blast zone. once that bubble is completely in the zone, the character dies. when wario's bike comes out, it does not alter that bubble. if he dies, it's not because the bike.

  • heres my question. can you begin drifitng the second you get hit, or is your DI stronger when you begin drifting as close to frame 26 as possible?

also, could you make a video showing all the characters momentum canceling, as in using their fastest ending aerial?

  • But ... B-moves on your DI makes you go higher, right? It can kill you on certain DI.

  • @Tikun123 Most do but some b-moves are exceptions. G&W bucket, DK up-b, Wario bike, Diddy side-b, Yoshi eggroll are the main exceptions.

  • My DI just leveled up. Hype.

  • Is there going to be a part 3? I've heart that with some characters it's faster (if you don't need to fastfall) to airdodge instead of aerialing into momentum cancel. For instance, many say it's faster to airdodge into bike with Wario instead of fair/dair into bike. Or is it actually better to aerial into bike since you can drift during the aerial? Thanks

  • @ImKiij I'd say it would be a really special occasion if that's so lol. Air dodge doesn't cancel any momentum at all and is kinda slow anyways, so if you chose to do so, you really have to use a character with only heavy aerials. Atm the only character I can come of would maybe be ike, if he wants to do the side b or something ... what matters to wario, I think his fair and MC into bike is more efficient than air dodging into bike. Like the video said; warios drifting is amazing

  • This is quite sexy :3
