Somehow, this ship rebuilds itself in seconds, and was not even ready for battle. The real Yamato, could never fire all guns at once. It would tear apart. The crew loading the 18" cannons could not be present in the turret at time of firing, because of the concussion.
I've read posts of others who claim they intended to but I have yet to see it done for the 1st series in English, so someday I'm going to find the time to sit and re-edit this together to include all the original footage and chop some of the dialogue including most of the redundant narration. At age 10 I could tell it was over done and thought he visuals could speak for themselves.
Always thought that took away from it.
I'll never get tired of these. Thanks for posting.
Why the bloody hell would they edit the WWII scene out of the American version? It was the best thing about this episode, and it wasn't biased in favour of the Japanesse or something, it was actually quite objective on the matter and totally awesome...
I agree with wikimoto, the best part is left. You can see this part if you look for Space Battleship Yamato which isthe best translation of the original name.
@dtvjho Yes! They'd show an episode in the morning and then one at 2 in the afternoon. Then one day I rush to turn on the T.V. only to learn that they drop the reruns to air some shit called "The Great Space Coaster" I was 5 years old back then and pissed!
this show doesn't seem as stupid when you're eight years old. Still love it though

@psychofish4444 actually, I appreciate the intelligence and emotion of this show more, now that I'm an adult.

Wildstar100 Thank you for your comment. Lol, it would have to have been something awesome, like nano-metals made with nano-bots!

@al122385 Hint. Vietnam. I am sure it was over by 77 but still. The anti-war on TV bit. I am sure it was there.

@al122385 Probably edited out for commercial time.
