two of the all time greatest, most well rounded guitar players to ever pluck a string. Sure, they were older, not exactly rock players, but their impact on and APPRECIATION for rock guitar cannot be overstated. Les Paul devoted several months to trying to find a certain young guitarist he had heard who blew him away only to find out the guy had been swept over to Great Britain to become Jimi Hendrix...
if you liked this video....you should listen to Scotty Anderson's version (acoustic)...and while you're at it try Are You From Dixie....or maybe Pennies From Heaven.....These guys were true pioneers and Scotty has taken up the mantle in my book.

The album was called Chester & Lester. Great album. My favorite line between them was when Lester looked at Chet & said "Sounding good Mary". Then Chet replied "Why thank ya Honey". Priceless.
Just goes to show ya the influence of Django. Both Chet and Lester considered Django their biggest influence -- and Chet and Les influenced a universe of guitar players (just start with Mark Knopfler for Chet; and Jeff Beck and Hendrix being influenced by Les Paul. Amzaing to me that there are millions of guitarists hugely influenced by Django, without even knowing his name. The flow chart pretty much goes back to Django Reinhardt.
Les Paul left us a gift, far beyond his life. The benefits are innumerable, and contributes for good, in our world. He planted a seed, borne with music everyone can hear, learn, and share. There are rare ideas, of which not many will match. Thanks, Les Paul, and Chet Atkins.
I never thought of that! You're right! It has something to do with the chording. Remember, Rienhardt basically only had the use of two fingers when chording because of his injury. What was Paul's technique?
Chester and Lester, Guitar Monsters indeed! Two of the all time best. If you listen to the albums they did together, the talk in between tracks in hilarious. Les has a wicked sense of humor.
Sometimes it's not easy for non guitar players to appreciate the difficulty of those licks Chet pulls off..then when they pick up a guitar and try it...well, it's a different story!

Fellow Tubelers,
Les Paul left us a gift, far beyond his life. The benefits are innumerable, and contributes for good, in our world. He planted a seed, borne with music everyone can hear, learn, and share. There are rare ideas, of which not many will match. Thanks, Les Paul, and Chet Atkins.
Best wishes.

These two great artists really stretched the envelope and made the guitar sing.

these two for their success.
