@notesau I use the Quick Start and can't get it to do down below level 15 (I'm not in as good shape as you). I almost died, LOL. How do you get it down to the minimum resistance?
@mireille876 Actually, I stand corrected. The minimum resistance is 15, but you can decrease the incline down to 1 or 0 (I think the standard setting is 3 for the incline).
@mihaeltomasovic For most people, the Arc Trainer puts less pressure on the knee- the knee never goes past the toes. The AMT is good but it does not allow for a true "driving" motion of the leg. Think sprinting or squats, a powerful motion driven through the heels. I've sold both of these machines to professional athletes. If you want powerful legs, I personally believe the 750AT is the best choice; retails at $8,000.
Why do they make these ridiculous looking machines which only emulate the simple Schwinn Airdyne? You want a workout get on an Airdyne.

I LOVE these. I wish my current gym would get some, because they really give me the best workout.

Great machine, unfortunately I see most people using it w/out adjusting the settings or using programs, aka not maximizing their time :(

@mireille876 Isn't there a plus and minus sign where it says "15"? Use plus to increase and minus to decrease.

You bought one of those huh? Its ok, don't beat yourself up about it, everyone makes mistakes.
Having actually used this particular machine, I can attest that it is more effective than a traditional elliptical machine in:
1) Reaching optimum heart rate more quickly
2) Burning more calories per cardio workout than other machines
3) Utilizing a longer stride, which definitely works the quadriceps and hamstring muscles quite nicely
