  • would be an awesome mix XD

  • Kamek was trying to stop the Marxist Mario brothers babies from infecting the normally self-actualized, individualistic Yoshis of Yoshi Island with communist propaganda. He failed his mission, for Mario landed and the Yoshis shunned their capitalist culture: becoming worker drones of equal rank (when before, the Green Yoshi used to be leader) and dismantling the free-market cookie based economy in favor of universal rationing that made it so no Yoshi could have more than 6 eggs at any one time.

  • It's a game based on teamwork with a song based on teamwork. I fail to see the problem, I only see people who think they should be mad/afraid.

  • @IamGreg73

I'm not mad at all. I just think it's a hilarious coincidence.

  • And people wonder why birds poop on us...the SOB in the MIG stole all the babies!

  • parece opening de pelicula se ve muy bien haasta con SCRREEEECH

  • Wow... Just wow...

    Wow?

  • admirable but the message the song gives is irrelevant and quite different.

  • mario its stalling OMG my childhood xD yaoface

  • @Bardock203 Except the Canadian one. Either that, or I'm just sick of hearing it all the time.

  • @Bardock203 It really is better than our anthem. XD

  • @Bardock203 Dixie was a much better national anthem, and it was original, the Star spangled banners sheet music was stolen from an old english drinking song.

  • Oh Nintendo, you so commie

  • @Unit076 look at mario, then look at stalin

  • kamik: THE BABIES ARE MIINE! *holds penis*

  • @InsomniacLegit Wow, you must really be addicted to penis to have pointed something like this out.

  • @shrodu I just pointed something funny out, im not stating that im gay or something....

  • That's pretty funny.

  • ...no.

  • This would explain why I like that Russian music. I'M CONTAMINATED!!!

  • @Bardock203 >implying liking anything Russian makes you a "traitor"

  • thats why mario wears read clothes

  • @VXTwistful *red

  • is it really that much of a big deal

i kind of like Russia, their badasses

  • This would be even more awesome if Yoshi's Island had come out in, say, 1988 rather than '95... Soviet Propaganda is much more effective when there is actually a Soviet Union in existence=)

  • Horaaahhh for Harry and Pauuuuuul

  • WOW

    That's crazy.

  • In Soviet Russia Yoshi Eats YOU!!

  • I guess Tetris is sponsoring Soviet Propaganda too.

  • @Bardock203 I don't think liking a particular song makes you a traitor, especially if you just think it sounds pretty.

  • Hail camarada Yoshi's!!

  • Sorry, I just couldn't focus on the contents of the video with the URL containing "welptag".

  • Mario was always a communist.

  • In Soviet Russia game plays you

  • It kinda breaks down later on, but pretty surprising. Still, I'd be perfectly willing to chalk it up as a coincidence; or, perhaps even more likely, it was a subconscious influence for the composer. The thing is, there's no point in hiding propaganda. Subliminal propaganda doesn't work. ._.

  • I once listened to some Russian music and there was a song in it that sounded almost exactly like Tetris music.

  • @TaiFerret yeah the Tetris song is korobelniki from the red army choir (spelling my change)

  • ....ohgod...

  • this is beautiful!!

  • HOLY CRAP this is beautiful where did find this mans voice? ^^

I WANT TO KNOW WHERE YOU FOUND THIS... please?

  • @THELASTREDMAGE His name is Paul Robeson. His version of the anthem is here: watch?v=LtU3vUOa2sw

  • @CommodoreKulor thanks for your help ^^

  • @Bardock203 I Approve you dude, and i'm Brasilian. But the difference is: my contry is a asshole

  • So I think the songs are too similar to call it an accident. But is this supposed to be propaganda? I have to say no. I assume the person in charge of music thought it would sound nice as music box type song for the game and decided to use its melody.

  • ...Why does the USSR anthem have English lyrics?

  • @pedroluchini Just a translation.

  • @pedroluchini Its the english versions

  • Yoshi's Island = Katorga-12

  • @Raider5800 RACIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • welp tag.

Yup I welped. Then I downloaded it.

  • Is it wrong that i know all the words to the soviet national anthem?

  • @supersaninpikachu I hope not, because I do too.

  • @supersaninpikachu never comrade

  • Whoa, epic

  • Comrade Yoshi, destroy the capitalist enemy!!!

  • The Irony in all of this is that Japan hates Russia.

  • Soviet Mario :D

  • Even though I'm American, that was just beautiful man. ;_;

  • at least that's what I heard... probably wrong

  • actually this song is based on Pachelbel's Canon... but the Soviet Anthem is based on Pachelbel's Canon, too.

  • this is bowser singing the song LOL

  • soviet bowser rules xD

  • Stupid !!!

  • @SuperMagp007 then dont watch

  • United forever in friendship and labor!

  • @Bardock203 I think the problem is how the anthem is performed at events. I've heard it done spectacularly, but often its just one person singing before a sport or something. The showmanship is the problem, not the song.

  • WTF!!!!!!!!

  • In Soviet Russia, conspiracies find you !

  • comrade yoshi united for log live comunism and fuck usa imperialism

  • как уже запарили американские дибилы

  • first of this is funny as hell but if you listen to the music rather then the singing you will find that they only meet up in some places

  • Wakarimasen!!!

    ._.

  • In Soviet Russia, baby carries YOU!

  • Tunedeath people. This is definetely not the same song.

  • @Wannabpatrickbateman Can't tell if trolling or just stupid.

  • I'd say it may have been done on purpose. But it can also be a coincidence.

Both tunes are bland - just a couple of chords.

  • LOL

  • @Bardock203 Agreed. America's anthem sounds weak compared to the Soviet one.

  • but this came out in 1995.

    the USSR had already gone.

  • @Twilleh its a joke

  • @Twilleh The C&C Red Alert seris came out after 91 as well, and they are all good games :)

  • Even the parts you didn't skip don't have that great of a resembalence.

  • HAIL COMRADE YOSHI!!!!

  • CRAP CAN'T UNHEAR

  • The similarities are scary. But i'd say it was more of an easter egg than a subliminal message.

  • Does anyone know where i can get the NSF file for yoshi's island music?

  • WAIT! ENGLISH VERSION?

  • Too many notes that aren't the same to be considered subliminal propaganda

  • @MissShyguy still sounds similar.

  • @FaradayKay

I certainly see the similitude in the first few notes, but there are just big chunks that have nothing to do with each other.

  • Waiting for a hardcore remix of this

  • Karl Marx would have loved this game

  • And.. what's wrong with it being Soviet? It's awesome.

  • It's a song to sleep, isn't a subliminal message

  • Last Kaos musical conspiracy. From the V7 of V7 box to the musical box. Vox amps are involved. Fake McCartney is Trotsky in disguise. No, the current is the real McCarthey, who was a sepoy policeman in India all through the beatlemania. Trotsky was killed in The Cavern by the Mario bros' famiglia.

  • Funny... But very FAIL! xD

  • LONG LIVE OUR SOVIET UNION.

  • HAHA this is amazing!

  • It's very diferent.... there are a lot of melodies similars and this is not inspiration...

  • Looks like Nintendo accepts the Soviet Anthem being superior

  • also to sounds like waltzing matilda

  • no wonder Yoshi Island came best seller in Russia xD

  • I wondered why that song was so catchy

  • How did they get James Earl Jones to do the vocals?

  • @fevimaster

First, I really think you mean I, V, vi, iii, IV, I, IV, V...that's what the Canon progression is supposed to look like, anyway. Second, the melodies are also quite similar -- which is actually where the idea for this video came from. Which is a joke video, by the way. Third, you don't have to be all up in my face; I'm not calling your Uncharted Winds tune "Soviet Propaganda" just because you used a very similar progression, so calm down brah.

  • @CommodoreKulor Firstly, the noted progression is NOT Canon; it's referring to this song. Secondly, similar melodies do not necessarily mean "Propaganda", because the music itself can't really point to such a specific idea. I mean, just because a song uses a Canon progression doesn't mean that it is praising Pachelbel or anything. Third, Uncharted Winds uses a descending scale progression (i.e. I-V6-IV6-I6/4) that ends with a V->V, which is quite different from Canon.

  • @CommodoreKulor I'm just a little annoyed because I was totally dumbfounded by how good the progressions of this song was and searched for it, then came upon this, which just shattered my nice little "inspiration" Xp

  • @CommodoreKulor I thought that fevimaster guy music pwned you... until I saw your reply. Well done good sir, well done.

  • @fevimaster Wut?

  • @Scarfy397 Music Theory, thank you very much.

  • @fevimaster mad.

  • @fevimaster This sounds like serious bussiness.

  • @gmodfan11

Think about it. Mario (A worker) is set out to free a princess from bowser (A king/ruler) and restore freedom to the Mushroom Kingdom.

That, and Mario's mustache really resembles Stalin's.
