Senator all I can say is 1.4 trillion dollars would have been more wisely spent just buying the mortgages from the families and then having them pay the government back with interest. Instead you give billions to banks that were hurting because of their own greed. Many voters wanted to let the auto industry flop but keep the banks floating this I do not understand. Those who use the Great Depression to describe our situation are stupid we do not have 30% unemployment and I doubt we will.
Specter is one of the smartest and most well-respected senators in the US Congress. If he's for it, especially going aganst party lines, it makes me feel slightly better, but nobody knows the right answer to the question whether the stimulus will work. However, inaction is not an option. Most politicians and the media aren't even really being honest about how bad things are going to get...our economy is likely to get much worse and I'm not sure what will turn it around.
In addition to this atrocious act, don't ever forget Specter's role in obscuring the facts in the Warren Commission and his hostility towards the Constitution and American Patriots.

I think he probably should've checked his membership at the door. But I do admire that he went with what he thought was best and not what was politically beneficial. I don't admire his choice....but the fact he made it.
