This is definitely the birth of Motown Records (late-1959/early-1960). A true milestone in music history, and a great classic hit to start the company.
who sang this first beatles or this guy? I want to say this guy only bec I have always liked this version and associated it with him and not the beatles.

If the label arrangment was the same as a few other Motown-related hits, Anna had national distribution (through Chess) and Tamla was for the Detroit market.
Barrett is my favorite version by far.
