  • Hec, "Friday Night Videos" would be good enough! Well, maybe 'Friday, Saturday and Sunday Night Videos' would be better.

  • estas compañias de television x cable aqui en vzla. te cobran un dineral y todas te pasan las mismas peliculas repetidas y son 2 o 3 televisoras que presentan musik. pero de los 80 pocos

  • A tarantula and a woman putting on makeup in reverse? What's not to like about this? I hate to admit it, but I am nowhere near this cool when I hang around in bars.

  • @jeligula I had to laugh.

  • FALCO is better than this crap

  • FALCO FTW!

  • 117 People Believe That Hits Like This Didn't Make History....K

  • All is klar, Herr Kommissar? Billboard's #30 hit of '83. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a blessed new year!

  • I want my MTV.........Why can't MTV get back to being Music TeleVision and start showing videos again? The early days were highly successful, as this being one of the better vidfeos from the day!! Have they forgotten their roots?

  • @19bap63 I want MY MTV back, too! They HAVE forgotten their roots, my friend.

  • @19bap63 I WANT MY Mtv! too.

  • < 3 falco

  • My brother used to jerk off to this in the 80's

  • i like after the fire's sound & synth but prefer Falco's vocals sing in deutsch.

Anyone dare to do a custom remix of the two?

  • they only have one hit that was just a cover of another song released only 1 year prior? lol

  • tmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam

  • They act all serious like they know after this son become's a hit they will never release another song......Gota love the 80's

  • My NYC 80s-music radio station just played this :-)

  • What's the deal with the tarantula?

  • @MrJM1878 excess crawls around you but one day ...BITE.

  • Chuck Norris gets on my nerves...

  • @njugga: Well actually this version is a cover. The original was done by Falco. I like both version, but this one better. Mainly because the lyrics are in English.

  • @nokindred far out. When I was a kid, I loved Falco, and I got it in my head that this had been his band. I had no idea he did an original. When I listened to the Falco album as a kid, it just reminded me of these guys, so I figured they did this and then he went solo or something.

  • This is a big hit in the Moscow rave scene.

  • First heard this song in a strip club in the early 80's.

  • My only question is: who plays the role of the woman in black?

  • God damn i was born 20 years too late.

  • @EarthCrash95 i dunno many. the 80's was a better time culturally... but man... the internet is just so nice, with all its free stuff :/

  • @njugga Probably, the typical thing to do now a days is take a song, rip it off and ruin it.

  • cocaine and the 80s.... all you need now is a crime boss

  • Too bad MTV got greedy & ditched videos for "reality tv". Having videos on TV was an important marketing tool. Now people either search here for videos by artists they know, or they stumble upon something new by chance. Having videos on TV allowed the general public to connect on common interests & ideas; whether you liked the video or not. How will a generation collectively look back fondly on the sounds of their past if it was all random stuff? Ok, I'm done with my ranting.

  • @RespectThe80s i tottally agree with you Mtvs wak now.. they show too much jersey shore shit

  • 115 Are Der Kommissar

  • I loved this song when I was a kid!!!! Thanks for the post!

  • wtf is it with advertisements on youtube?

  • Comment removed

  • Cheaters...

  • Don't turn around, Jar-Jar. The Chancellor's in town.

  • Alles klar, Herr Kommisar?

  • This is one of those super totally awesome songs from the 80's! So many songs back in the 80's got their point across to issues going on and yet rocked the message like this song for example and so many more back then. So many. I just love the 80's sooo much! I had so many fun and crazy times back then. A time in my life when I felt carefree and felt so alive. I imagine many from the 80's felt this same exact way. I know my friends and I still speak of the 80's with happiness in our hearts. :-)

  • 115 people got killed by de kommisar

  • @tpaladino Actually, the song is heavy with drug and street gang references, as well. Falco, who did the original, was Austrian.

  • WHY MAKE A COVER? tHE ORIGINAL IS ALREADY PERFECT!

  • @solaccursio Different beats give songs different moods. This one makes me want to dance, the Original just makes me want to bop my head back and fourth. Plus I can't understand the Original lol.

  • @MrLink1971 lol!

  • Aaahhh this reminds me of driving around in my first car this came out when I was 17 and it still holds up both versions are great in there own way

  • @arcblue4 yeah - I have the same memory - was on a long trip in my first car and every town and every new radio station was playing it.....it was great.

  • Still can't decide whether this is better than One night in bangkok... Mmh?

  • the original video from the 1980s shown on MTV. brings back good memories.

  • its the beat man that bow bow bow bow -bada bow bow bow

  • I miss the videos and music of the 80's. The videos were like a movie and the music was real. Now it's just a bunch of thugs jumping around using auto tuners!

  • @unabtanium check out Lupe Fiasco....then just SHhhhhhhh!

  • @unabtanium Same goes for CGI, nothing is real anymore!

  • @unabtanium /watch?v=w5CTu5RylCM&ob=av2e

    2009

  • "CHAA!"

  • no shit

  • @mjustonestar THANKS BRO!!!! GOD BLESS THE CLASS OF 1986!!!!!!! GOD BLESS THE 1980'S!!!

  • Falco is better!

  • this is a good cover, but i still love Falco more.

  • "Kommissar" is German for "Government Official." The song is about a couple on the run from the law. Every time they happen to be in public, "Der Kommissar" shows up. Hence the phrase, "Alles klar? Der Kommissar," which means "Everything OK, officer?

  • Sooooooo nice song by AFTER THE FIRE , love it !! the year of 1983 is here with me again.....thanks a lot !! Greetings from Chile !

  • Falco did it better! RIP

  • yeah, I thought der kommissar was a Russian phrase

  • What is the word he keeps on repeating at 2:16?

  • @TnseWlms I do believe they are saying 'Ja', kinda like saying 'yeah' over and over again

  • das gefelt mir

  • Saying the cold war rocked is disgusting, you have no idea how people had to struggle in eastern europe while your parents probably wiped your cushy butt

  • @anduin1 i think you are wrong about those of us who do know about how bad the cold war was but loved all kinds of music, What makes us have to not enjoy our lives and have good memories of before the U,S, went toareal war.10 years now. i may have more years than you, but I refuse to not live my life well and music is a blessing.Politics are what they are. What am i supposed to do not have any fun now or good memories of then?If one used there free speech to say the cold war rocked good to them.

  • @anduin1 I was a "Cold Warrior", I thank God it's over. Things can get bad, but we really don't have a good chance that in a few minute's time all life could end...

  • @anduin1 The cold war didn't rock..you want an example of rock? Pump up the volume

  • @anduin1 Taking the internet community seriously is disgusting. you have no idea how people had to struggle in North America during the Cold War facing nuclear annihilation while your parents sat around waiting for the Soviet Union to become a failed state. You're welcome.

  • @anduin1 Damn right. I grew up 11 miles from the East German border - glad no, DAMN lucky to have been on the west side.

  • R.I.P. Falco!

  • Gotta love the funky beats.

  • I never knew Falco was the origional! Thumbs up anyway!

  • CHA!!!

  • Thumbs way way down. Falco fuers Leben.

  • I love Falco...But this version blows his away!

  • Falcos version is waaay better.. just saying.

  • I think why people liked this version better is because it was in english instead of German so people could understand it.

  • good schitt

  • Great voice!! And amazing song

  • FALCO!!!!!!!

  • super freak

  • jack joe and jill who r they what does it mean

  • Falco punch.... Now that's what the Kommissar was after some.

  • videos in this day were so retarded

  • Comment removed

  • @Grazmataz37 How so? Because you can't jack to it? Fag.

  • @dcl32 hahahaha. yeah funny cock sucker. very funny. why dont u go hang your head from your arse u stupid butt rammer

  • @Grazmataz37 Okay, seriously though, how is this video "retarded?"

  • @dcl32 the way the extras express when they sing the chorus. just looks retarded. my question is, why couldnt u have just asked like this the first time instead of calling me a fag? its just my opinion

  • @Grazmataz37 Ehh

  • @dcl32 meaning why didnt u just ask me why i thought it was retarded and not call me a fag?

  • This is a good track thanks for the upload

  • @brsmith0898 I agree. She is hot. I would have loved to banged her, also.

  • Funny how most people think Falco copied After the Fire version when Falco actually did the original.

  • That girl is so damn sexy!. When this song came out, I was 10, and I wanted to bang her back then.

  • Another awesome hit from the 80's. Love this song! The beat is irresistible.

  • I don't know what's better in this song, the guitars, the synths, or the strategically placed tambourine smack.

  • 107 people voted for Falco.

  • a timeless hook..

  • People don't realize this song is about the East German secret police and how they were always watching.

    The fucking cold war rocked.

  • @tpaladino

    Best comment ever,Ebola.

  • @tpaladino I thought it was about Cocaine.

  • @kalinkasixtyfour - there are references to 'sugar' & 'snow' which are symbolic of cocaine -- while the action may be hot, ultimately it is the way to death via 'subway'. As for the Kommissar, being a government official, one designed to take his due, I thought it was symbolic of the devil coming to take yet another lost soul who lived fast and ultimately would die from using drugs. Perhaps it may mean something else but that's what it means to me for what it's worth.

  • @tpaladino but i hope that everyone knows that this song was actually made by Falco, i guess he had them make an english version to make it in america or something like that ^^

  • @AbsoloutlyZimtstern What wound up happening was that someone wanted to make an English translation and asked Falco for permission. He agreed and made sure it was accurate since he was fluent in both German and English.

  • @projectblackrai ATF did this song way better. More polished and bumps way better with far cleaner and awesome bass and guitar playing.

  • @jimmybrown11111 Well, that's a matter of opinion. Neither is right or wrong, it's just our own personal feelings about it. I like Falco's version better, you like this one. Nothing wrong with that.

  • @tpaladino In Soviet Germany, music...

Aw fuck I dunno. Ain't got any good ones for this.

  • @tpaladino

Yeah, the Cold War was . . . great?

  • @tpaladino Yup, just like the DHS here. Not surprising since fmr. head of E.German Stasi Markus Wolf was contracted by FBI as a "consultant" to essentially design current DHS' Const.-violations.

Most sheeple delude a tyranny is one of visible, uniformed militant standing in every st.-corner w/an AK. While it is true that USSR's East Bloc had visible policestate apparatus, but MOST of it was just people policing each other, like DHS' "See Something, Say Something," PROPAGANDA.

    Welcome to 1984.

  • @RosenKrantz666 yep!!! couldn't agree with you any more,,!!

  • @tpaladino QFT to the MAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @tpaladino Except it's not. It's about an Austrian cult crime TV series.

  • @tpaladino what are you?

  • @tpaladino No it isn't. Der Kommisar was written by Falco, and it was about Hookers and Cocaine........Wiki it.

And yes, the Cold War rocked.........

  • Damn... I will never look at nerdy women the same way again.

  • Thats what Im talking about... Bring back memories... Love the 80s

  • if you were a Star Wars character you'd be FAGBOT 12

  • Thumbs up is "Vh1's 100 Greatest One-Hit-Wonders of The 80's" brought you here.

  • @pimps1986 Sirius XM 80's on 8 brought me here

  • @jakezilla382000 That's good to know!

  • Was Falco in this band? if not I wonder if he sued them for ripping off his song

  • @cbazan66 I know Falco did the german version of this song. But if I remember correctly After The Fire got permission to do this version.

  • @cbazan66 Falco was not in the band. He did not sue since he was approached about making an English version of the song. As a matter of fact, he's in the video at the end, if you look.

  • @projectblackrai The barkeep? Nah... that's not Falco. Is it...?

  • I will Men,

  • great song

  • que barbaro¡

  • The reasons the 70's and 80's had great music it's that these musicians harvested the healthy lifestyles of their parents. The music now stinks because of the unhealthy lifestyles -- pot smoking, illegal drugs and so forth -- of the previous generation.

  • @wooki53 cause lord knows nobody used any illegal drugs in the '60s or '70s. You're funny.

  • @wooki53 yeah right... there was so much drugs back then

  • If i had a time machine I'd go to the 80's and turn it off forever....

  • @Moontanman

If you had a time machine and went back to the 80s to turn it off youd probably get your ass kicked by there awesomeness!!!

  • @MrGrave1986 Well i lived through the 80's once i am sure i could do it again, lol

  • @MrGrave1986 I loved the 80's I think i'd be able to fit back in, lol

  • @MrGrave1986 for some reason i keep getting this comment over and over but you only posted it once.

  • @Moontanman

its the 80s man they messin round on youtube!!lol

maybe this comment will end the cycle!!!lol

  • 0ne hit wonder #51 by vh-1 classic.

  • @thebigrene1972 every decade had their quintessential goodies but after 2003 music just lost its luster more n more. u ever seen that song my jeans? thats what i am talking about.. that bs..

  • I wish I could go back for a day.

  • im 16 and i think the 80's would be so cool

  • I will Men, jjajaja

  • poor falco just because he didn't want to translate his song it was covered. people should appreciate things in their original way. well at least "rock me amadeus" showed the us how great he was .

  • @KimiKate25 There actually was an English version, however, it didn't chart as well as the original version did. The same thing happened with Nena's 99 Luft Ballons (99 Red Ballons). The original version in German charted way better than it's English copy.

  • @aprildramsey Where have you heard of an English version? Because i am pretty sure Falco didn't sing "The Kommissar" in English. If indeed there is such a version I'd love to hear it.

  • @KimiKate25 youtube.com/watch?v=rNHkWrUcLvU&feature=related

  • @KimiKate25 Since it won't let me post the youtube link for some reason... Look for it. It's there. There is "After the Fire", but there is also Falco...

  • Cha!

  • @Ricardosauve Yup

  • Met these guys in Columbia SC --they opened for Van Halen ---we partied like rock stars ----lol

  • OMG! So many memories of when MTV actually played music! Nothing but hacks now.

  • Loved this song and agree bring us back to the Eighties yeahhh !!!!

  • EDIT:I've listened to the Falcon version and honestly I like this one better.I had no idea what he was talking about and it didn't have the same vibe to it

  • @Ayannafuckingnichole You mean Falco, right?

  • @toodlebros Yea I made that comment from my phone and my autocorrect changed it to Falcon lol

  • this is when hip hop was in its infancy.

  • rick james yo still here?.

  • Even my kids like this song. They always wait till the line "Don't turn around" and sing along. When I am dead and gone my kids will relate this song to a positive memory of me. Kind of cool!

  • wats with the spider? XD

  • Lord, send me back to the 80,s... lol that was very good. jajajaja.

  • There is no way to tell how much sweat was created by this song (_on the dance floor, of course!_)!

  • I love the 80's

  • Wonder what happened to After the Fire after Der Komissar? Maybe they should have been called "After their One Hit!" LOL!

  • @Potsie791 They stole this song from Falco, he unlike them actually had talent and other hits and Karma hit them and they had none. Falco version is better but this is ok.

  • @thorn35 Interesting, I didn't know that. I'll have to give the Falco version a listen. Knowing how ruthless the music industry is, that doesn't sound too surprising.

  • @Ricardosauve i think the original and the cover (this) is english

  • Thumbs up if the movie "take me home tonight" brought you here

  • @Ricardosauve Russian

  • @shinrichs530 ? i think its German der kommissar in German means the commissioner like a government official but most likely is a police captain in this context

  • @Ricardosauve Russian

  • i loooooooooooooooove this sng and video so much!

2:14 YUCK! what kind of ugly woman is that?

  • @Ricardosauve

    ja ja

  • Truck!!!

  • Lord Please, Send me Back to the 80', I'm dying in this era of 2011. God ,have a mercy of me, You have power to send me right now, Please Lord
