  • Does anyone know the name of the cow bell sample that comes in at 10:32? Thanks in advance.

  • i wanna kill the guy who's blaring that fucking horn what a douchebag

  • lolololol you are all jokes. you really think he has skills and tallent? he fucking clicks buttons on ableton or traktor or something he is pathetic you are all pathetic for thinking he has any skill what so ever

  • @chr0nix42O Okay, so he uses ableton, skrillex uses ableton...does that make skrillex pathetic and lack talent. Oh traktor, I use traktor, conveniently so does Porter Robinson. Are you calling Porter Robinson talentless? Be careful before you go off on rants on famous mashup artists videos, someone who actually knows what they're talking about might pop in and destroy you...You legitimately have no clue, the end...

P.s. Girl Talk uses Adobe Audition and Audiomulch (wikipedia) #you'reretarded

  • @XxPrivatePeasxX Girl Talk>all mashup artists.

  • id like to see anyone do what he does with turntables. scratching is cool and i have nothing but respect but this is taking it to the next level, 21st century DJ. GT is a master of his art.

  • @oooogaabooogaa exactly...he would need at least ten turntables and be able to spin them at the same time

  • he mite not be mixing but the edits and remixing is well done

  • It takes a shit load of talent to do this, turntables or not Pure class!!

  • yeah i guess i wouldn't call him a dj if he isn't using boards and turntables. this isn't a bad thing, though. he's really an evolution from dj; the digital dj, producer, computer geek, visionary. he hears patterns in music and harmonically overlays them

  • That dude screaming ' groove is in the heart' made the video.

  • Greg Gillis uses a Dell. FML

  • 1 way or another, gt got it right. we need to inter-connect. love 1 another

  • Too many shirtless dudes for there NOT to be an overabundance of drugs.

  • Long time fan. Saw him tonight for the first time. Met with him, drank with him. Best show i've ever been to, and ive been to quite a few... GOD BLESS GREGG GILLS & GIRL TALK!

  • Does anyone know the track at the VERY intro of his set?

  • skip to 00:34 to actually see anything.

  • i wonder where he gets all his instrumentals and acapellas ?

  • The guy at 33:32 sounds like he's having too much fun.

  • What does he keep changing on the laptop. Surely its all ready to go on his itunes playlist

  • @ashkon52 no, he chooses the songs right there i believe

  • @ashkon52 - He runs a program called Audiomulch and uses a bunch of "loop players" for each sample. When he is o the laptop, he is muting/unmuting samples. Essentially when you make a mashup in Audiomulch, all the samples are playing at the same time when you hit play. It's not an impossible program to learn, but his genius lies within the samples and how he cuts them and adds small amounts of silence to give it a strobe sound.

  • Face it, that's just goog, we don't have to compare to anything

is it good? yeah? just enjoy, damn : D

  • Face it, that's just goog, we don't have to compare to anything

is it good? yeah? just enjoy damn : D

  • Superb!

  • nigga. who gives a fuck. if you care about all that "not real music no instrument" shit you're missing the point

  • now.. that's what i call a party

  • I can only say this is like a DJ with 8 arms 16 turntables : )

  • Wanna know what else is cool? This guy is not some drugged up e-tard dj and has actually attended a university and did this on free time. Then decided to do a tour. haha, :)

  • One of the most creative djs of all time <3. And if you don't think he's a dj then you don't know what the hell your talking about, plain and simple.

  • @module8

listen to his first two CDs and you'll see he came from a noise art background as opposed to a DJ background

  • @module8 I love girl talk as much as anybody, but even he himself has said he's not a dj.

  • my cousin went to this show. i wanna go to his concert before i die

  • 17:29 = <3

  • I mean 'site'

  • Wow this youtube sight is pretty cool

  • nutotal neu hier wer mag oder will mit mir chattn der meldet sich ja ^^

  • its a miracle this laptop has no beer drops! I know many DJs who lost their laptops playing near people drinking..

  • @luciok

He usually puts plastic over his laptop

  • this is the greatest thing I've ever listened to on youtube while all strung out between classes

  • goddamn that's a party

  • What songs start at 9:24,19:32,27:43???

  • i would kill to hear that guy spin live in a club. His mixes are so straight up awesome. He knows how to mix classics and todays rap like nobody else. Yeah there are other great DJs like him, but he is the best IMO.

  • @thunderstruck560

He's coming to my college campus Thursday night, I'll let you know how it is.

  • he's playing a free show in van on friday for the olympics too

  • jus' don't call him a DJ

  • This is awsome, when are you coming to europe. I think it will take off there when you are abit known (some single/ partyflock website) makes you famous.

  • HOLY SHIT!! NEUTRAL MILK HOTEL!

  • <3 whoever uploaded this

    THANK YOU

  • haha what about the obnoxious dude screaming

    GROOVE IS IN THE HEAAAAAAAAART

  • Girl Talk Kicks Anyones Ass i Know this Guy

  • not a chance that milkman is better. mash bros are on par but girl talk is the man.

  • milkmann and mash bros. is better then you but pretty good man

  • @XxPrivatePeasxX

Girl talk has so much more class and variety

  • @XxPrivatePeasxX

dude mas bros its cool but don't compare them with girl talk...

those guys don't have many variety...and they make predetermined songs...and girl talk makes them diferent every time ;d

  • i love how all the guys are like FUCK YEAH when the ace of base song comes on. haha

    me too. lol

  • lol at the guy trying to talk to him around 12.15

  • Lucky bastard.

  • whats the track that starts at about 5 mins?

  • @bryaninvermont unknown track by girl talk listen to hold up xD from night ripper

  • says the person who enjoys no one giving a shit about what he's saying

  • my opinions are not part of your pop ideology so I couldn't give a shit what you think.

  • so why did you comment? if you didnt give a shit about what most people would think, seriously, why?

  • this camera work is pro as shit

  • N888888B

  • Every last second was tight with good pacing. Its as 'live' as it gets. Arguably more so than a rock band that plays the same 'hits' show after show.

  • love girl talk but shit dude how u do a "live" set wid a laptop an no mixer......least he aint pretending to b a dj

  • its called 10,000 loops and audiomulch

  • =energy and good vibes!

  • amiii amiii amii!!!!!!!!! wtf

  • Thank you so much for the video. Best 52 min I've had in a while.

  • @ryanbmx5 u watched the whole thing, get a life man

  • Ok, so maybe I lied. I didn't actually watch it, but I did LISTEN to the whole thing in a separate tab while surfin the net.

  • So UNDER RATED....

  • NYE CONGRESS THEATER FUCK YES!

  • hell yea.

  • holy mother fucking shit

  • dude he's the man

  • What are the songs he plays at 9:24 and 19:07?

  • Treasure island next weekend. Mgmt, girl talk, the decemberists and flaming lips ect ect. Gonna get down in the Bay!

  • I was there Muhfukah!!! Up front for Girl Talk of course!!! :)

  • "I AM NOT A DJ"

  • <3 girl talk!!

  • _7:45 ..... bllooooped! :)

  • which remix(es) of Auld Lang Syne is he playing?

  • This never gets boring.

  • I'm sure it's his own version

  • Regardless he may not be a DJ with a turntable and what not - but let's face it..at the end of the day - no one cares..everyone's just diggin' the music which is why he's popular :s...

He's got great creative insight putting matched beats/tempo with lyrics and commencing with the next melody - which I find quite fascinating myself..

  • @MeleLimuloa

just saw him last night for the first time. It's unsafe to say the amount of bitches i had on me as soon as the bass dropped. FUCKING BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE

  • i love the very beggining when he goes from some jazz song to like a hip hop remix of it

  • i know how to make it an mp3 file

  • this really isnt a performance to go to looking for a good show. girltalk IS A DJ. and has a very modern method of mixing on the fly

  • Girl Talk is not a DJ.

  • do you not know what a DJ is?

  • More like a producer not a DJ. Plus he even has shirts/merchandise that say "Im not a DJ"

  • Girl talk is not a DJ, DJ stands for "Disc Jockey", regardless he is an incredible mixer

  • Absolutely incredible.

  • Does anybody know if there is anyway you can get this concert or at least the first ten minutes as an mp3 file?

  • He should learn some basic dance moves to make his performance a bit more interesting

  • lol i saw him like two days ago hes not much better but it shows character

  • @mrserv0n18 hahaha. not.

  • I <3 girl talk.

  • so sick

  • I've tried to make something like what Gillis does and it's next to impossible if you don't know what you're doing (like playing a guitar or the drums).

I'm a big fan of music in general and while Girl Talk isn't doing anything too original (DJ Shadow), it's definitely exciting to listen to. Some samples that he drops are for those that enjoy something that would NEVER be heard any where in pop music today (the Velvet Underground for instance) and for the true music lover, it's simply amazing.

  • lol

  • shut the fuck up this isn't 1995 no one likes fucking scratch djs

  • talk shit pussy? you're a real intellectual

  • If anyone else notices, this guy never plays the same set. He always has a new set, and it seems like a lot of his mashups live are mixed differently than his CD releases. I think this guy has some serious amazing talent, by far my favorite most influential artist.

  • Comment removed

  • The guy has talent...but to call him your favorite most influential "artist"...come on now

this is barely music...it's a guy on a computer, pushing buttons and looping a bunch of stuff

The people who go to his concerts go to dance...not for the amazing musical abilities of Girltalk...not a bad thing...but def. not ground breaking music

  • saw him at mtn jam in ny, then two weeks later at bonnaroo....pretty much the same set...and his show came to a screeching halt TWICE at bonnaroo, i mean, how hard can it really be to not hit the pause button? lol it is fun dancing to though, bring a girl

  • i think what happened at bonnaroo was that there were soooo many people on stage dancing and basically raging that they ran into and unplugged some cords or messed up his computer. i heard something about people taking his mouse or mousepad or something and then it wouldn't work right anymore or something. so i don't think it was his fault.

  • that comment was in response to ironlion49.

  • does anyone know the song at 28:50

  • Rick Ross - Hustlin

    Daft Punk - Digital Love

not sure which one you wanted but these are the 2 original songs. but i believe from watching the video he used remixed versions.

  • thats what i thought the first time too, but he mixes live which is kind of cool, its a shitload of fun at one of his shows too

  • still.... lol.

  • i mean, its not like playing guitar or anything, but i will say it takes some skill to be able to mix all of that live and do it well

  • yeah... but he fucking rocked mexico city

  • wuts the first song called

  • Bull in the Heather @ 21:43 !!!!

  • that was the best mix of the night, and no one looks interested at all cause 99% of the crowd is musically retarded

  • yo the girl on 30:54 is anouying!!!

  • name an artist that deserves not to be 'ruined' in the 'industry'. You just wish you had skills.

  • that's like saying andy warhol is unoriginal for his "mashup" of the Campbell's soup logo. He took a recognizable snippet of pop culture and reinterpreted it. Girl Talk does the same, using snippets of pop culture, blending multigenerational cuts into a cohesive, beautiful new vision. Sometimes seeing the old as new is more artistically striking than simple, stubborn innovation.

  • Very true, but you don't have to look that far into it. Sometimes music just has to be really damn catchy.

  • dude ajdsklfjk

i cannot wait to experience one of his shows myself

  • he's such a legend

  • CONGRATS ON THE VIDEO FOOTAGE, 1HR TAKE LIVE , Well done.

  • i got to see him Gainesville, Florida last Wednesday (March 4th-09) he's amazing live and it was awesome to see him live!

  • ya, the gville concert was amazing apparently, sad i missed it i=[

  • groovin in the house. man, that guy must have been feeling good.

  • Comment removed

  • @quincylsmith....thanks for making the effort to reply bud, much appreciated. I meant more the music ie the kinda bassline starting at 5.05 and the synth/keyboard twirling stuff over it, cheers again though :)

  • I'm pretty sure its one of Girl Talk's own mixes

Appears on 'Hold Up' on Night Ripper

1:25 (6:13) Girl Talk - "Untitled Original Track"

    according to wikipedia

  • @thecoconutlodge. Thanks very much, its been bugging me, problem solved! :)

  • man...the sonic youth part...holy shit...that is soooo badass....

  • dude..this guy is the shit...he's taken the mixxing to a whole nuther level...there's a lot of great mashup artists out there..but this dude just hears rhythms in songs that a lot of people would'nt normally be able to connect...it's fuckin amazing...i mean..whatever he's doing...he does it well..mad props

  • can you bring cameras to his shows?

  • I personally dont think hes that talented, but to wallachia, 5:05 is In My White Tee by Dem Franchize Boys into CREAM by Wu Tang and then into Stuntin Like My Daddy by Lil Wayne at 6:10.

  • Help me out people, whats mixed/mashed up starting at 5:05? thanks

  • what is he even doing on stage? Just playing MP3s?

  • MAGIC

  • live mashups man, it's harder then it sounds

  • He is doing live mashups. I am a dj and I envy his skills. What alot of people dont understand is that he creates all his remixes. Its pure Magic.

  • do your research on both.

justice explained the situation, they plugged it back in after like 5 seconds of it being out.

and girl talk does it live for the sake of doing it live. to read the crowd. to be a true showman.

  • dj's rarely play their music live, there are some acts like soulwax or kraftwerk that play live

  • But Girl Talks not a dj ;)

  • i know every girl talk song by heart, i really wish i saw him live when he came to philly.

  • i listen to this guy all the time and i've heard several repeat mashes

i've seen him live 3x, and been on stage 2x, have all his albums, b-sides, and 2 bootlegs, plus a bunch of you tube vids

i still like it though real well, at least for what its worth

  • the guy screaming should be beaten to a pulp!!!!

  • What songs is he mixing at 5:36?

  • man i like this guy, but why would you want to go to a girl talk concert, idk i guess if you just want to see this guy and get his autograph it would be pretty cool, i just think its weird idk, im not dissing this guy, i listen to gt all the time

  • go for the party..

can't do that with an ipod

  • yeah if you're front row it would be pretty sweet, be kinda cool partying with strangers

  • because hes fucking amazing live! every concert is a different experience. uninformed people think he just pushes play and dances in front of his laptop... go to a show, and get back to me. Ive seen him several times and have NEVER heard the same mix/mash up. DJs have specific sets they play, whereas gregg has millions of loops he has precreated and mixes live every concert. Go to a show man, you will LOVE it. :)

  • i dont see whats so amazing about seeing a laptop and a guy lol. i mean i see whats amazing about what hes done but i wouldnt see the value of seeing it live.

  • the Value of seeing it live is being a part of that party atmosphere and enjoying some music that is truly unique and will never be made quite the same way again.

  • like i said, i dont see how thats different from being in a regular party with the same loud atmosphere lol. its just some guy on a laptop.

  • so we agree to disagree.

  • you try combining loops from multiple songs and mashing them together in a single, coherent, LISTENABLE track.

  • actually its not that hard if you know some basics of musical theory :D we do this kinda shit with 4 turntables and 2 seratos. theres nothing amazing, but it requires certain skills, like djing. but theres nothing special playing guitar, fucking everyone can play guitar, even me whoa

  • I think you hit on the point here. It doesn't matter how hard it is to do. It's the WAY he does it. I mean, it's really easy to play ramones songs, they're basically 3rd grade musically. That doesn't affect the fact that they're a great rock band. Girl talk gets thousands of people dancing everywhere he goes... that's the point.
