@MKSaibot I've driven this truck off & on for over a year with different power systems and in different configurations and thus far not a single part has broken for me. I chose to upgrade my rear axles only when I put a 1/8th scale motor in the vehicle with a giant 4S (14.8V) LiPo to run it with street tires on asphalt. In my experience, if you don't abuse this truck, it doesn't break.
@UltimateRCnetwork Ok well then I am sold, hope this place is open tomorrow because I have a track just waiting for this thing. Thanks for quick reply!
@UltimateRCnetwork right out of the box, how do you think the stampede would fair as a "Crawler" in terms of the amount of heat that would build up running at low speeds, stock chassis set up, gear set up ect. ? on a scale of 1 - 10 :)
@UltimateRCnetwork Damn the URC boys r quick!! im relatively new to serious rc'ing and ive been looking around for the past couple days, but cant put my finger down on anything. the main uses for my rc would be on the beach (so waterproof), crawling, and rough terrain doesnt have to be blazing fast but reliable.. pls let me know which rc fits this criteria and has a reasonable tag on it.
@2000rcman If you want speed AND off road go with the mini E-revo. The slash is too low to the ground and has too small of tires to be good at off roading
Would you recommend a Savage XS or Stampede 4x4 for mostly bashing. I like the durability of the savage but the stock steering servo, esc, and motor don't seem all that good and guessing just the opposite for the stampede 4x4. Is the stampede any more durable than a rustler? Thanks.
hey jang can u please help me...im am new to rc's and i was running my traxxas stampede 4x4 vxl and then it stopped and u could hear the motor running but the truck wasnt going. please help!

hi there, i just wonder how does it make balance ? i mean i saw on the video the battery slot on the left, and right side is empty, ? i just wonder that thank you for answer for now.
hey i bought my truck and snapped the front a arm in the first 4 minutes of breaking in my battery so i ordered some aluminum ones would you recommend a bigger bumper... i ran it into a railroad tie due to doing a wheelie and loosing controll lol
ok im a newbie to rc cars and i took my stampede apart like an idiot and put it back together and i noticed it doesnt do wheelies anymore from a standstill. it lifts a little bit but not like it did before. does anyone know what i have done????? i also messed with the camber and toe in but dunno if that has anything to do with it.
so i have a bandit VXL, im kinda tired of it (no 4wd, low to the ground, and the vxl is surprisingly weak) but do you recomend it? you say you like it, but is it worth it to a guy on a budget.... 410 is a lot but is it worth it?
Hi jang. Im looking into the emaxx and wanted to know if its a tough truck. I only use the stock batteries and casual offroading and no bashing and i want to know if its tough enough. Please respond, thanks
Great review! I have a Stampede 4x4 VXL. I recently started using a 3S LiPo. Unfortunately, I've been having problems with the truck. It seems like the truck is being sluggish. Keep in the mind, the battery is properly charged. The truck is set up to handle a LiPo battery, yet the motor is working too hard and there's not much pick up to show for it. @stanleythedoogle Hey. Sorry for not replying. I use a 3S, 11.1V, 5000mah, 20C Venom battery. I just was the standard pinion for the motor. I found out that I just needed to tighten up the slipper clutch. I felt like an idiot once I realized it, but at least it was a good learning experience. Since then, I've bashed the truck and changed out the rear stub axels, a rear wheel hub, and I'm waiting for an order for a new wheels since the wheel hub shaved the back of the rear wheel. @japplesauce01 E-Maxx is better if you can afford it. It's bigger, the same top speed, 4X4, has WideMaxx suspension, and can take way more abuse. Even if you're just talking about the XL-5 'Pede and the 30 MPH E-Maxx, still go with the E-Maxx.
@sickboypy If you have different crystals both transmitter and receiver you should be fine. You can pick up a 2.4 ghz combo for about £30 and that will guarantee you no interference.
I just got this truck. Very fun. Very good. I only bought a Lipo for it the day i got it. Runs very good. Dont worry about not having enough power because i ran it to strong in the beginning and i broke the chasse 4 times due to to much power. You can reduce the power on it to make it more reliable. Its a very good truck to get. Beats any car/truck out there. SAVE UP AND BUY IT!
Hey I heard you say you started charging the battery when you left the shop and you were ready to run by the time you were at your pit tbale. How exactly did you charge it and with what charger? just curious, thanks
@assasinsINC The Stampede 4x4 is your best bet to get over huge stuff if you bash.. Trust me. I have a pede 4x4 and it literally can't get stuck anywhere. The only thing you really need to add to the 'Pede once you get it are sway bars, which are not entirely necessary. Good luck on your decision. That is just my opinion, others will have much better information than mine.
@assasinsINC I have to say that I'm in that same boat with ya! I have a brush-motor 1/16 E-Revo, and I'm not altogether thrilled with it. I've been looking at the 1/16 Summit VXL lately though, I really like the wheels on it, and the fact that it would go way faster than my E-Revo. I do, however, have a Stampede VXL 2WD that I totally have a blast with. After this video, I'm leaning more in the direction of the 4x4 'Pede VXL. I'm a basher too, BTW.
Hab den Stampede seit ca. 2 Monaten im Einsatz und das unter härtesten Bedingungen :) wie du auch auf meinem Blog siehst, dort habe ich einen kleinen Erfahrungsbericht mit Bilder & Videos geschrieben.
the main problem I have with my stampede 4x4 vxl is I have only had is for 2 monthes and I have replaced 2 rear stub axles and a rear half shaft. does anyone else have to replace them that often? I do run mine pretty hard, but damn. metal parts please traxxas?
Jeng how the hell can I get my Stampede and Slash to stop eating U-joints or axles or whatever the are??? Or is there an upgrade. I got MIP CVD's on the way I hope that helps. Or is this just considered acceptable?
I went to my local hobby shop to buy an emaxx, the guy up there said that unless you just had to have an emaxx, go with the stampede 4x4. I bought the stampede and i love it. 1 battery operation means alot. My revo takes 2 at a time, it sucks. This thing goes any where. I drive it hard, jumps, wheelies, water, rocks, dust, rolls and cartwheels with out breaking into pieces. Its like a puppy, cant help but smile when your near it. Stock battery is good for 20 mins or so. I use a 2s lipo, a bit m
hey man i gotta make a really hard decision and i would love if you could help me i have been looking at the rustler vxl and the stampede vxl and i dont no which to choose i am just looking for a fun car to use and get the most out of any help ? :-)
@acedheroHD well do you want one for road/speed(Rustler) or one for off-road/mud(Stampede) its your money dude. you decide. I got the Stampede because I live where there is alot of dirt and grass. If I got the rustler I wouldnt have many places to drive it on.
I am just getting into hobby grade RCs and am thinking about getting the original stampede 2wd for bashing. Would this be a good choice given that I am a beginner?
I'm looking into either getting the stampede VXL or the stampede 4 x 4 VXL. Regardless of which one I get I will be upgrading it so it will be reaching the 60mph max speed. Money is not an issue, but I don't want to simply throw money away buying the 4 x 4 VXL if there is not a signifigant performance variation between the two. What is your opinion on the matter? Also, regarding 3s lip0 11.1V batteries what brand do you recommend for achieving maximum run time?
@9999Drake No, mrrocks3578 is wrong. Only the 1/10 scale E-revo Brushless is 65 MPH. The Mini e-Revo VXL is only 50+ MPH. This Stampede 4X4 is faster than a mini e revo.
This was my first time seeing a review of yours. I was planning on buying this truck today and you totally pushed me into it. Thanks for an awesome video. :D
Thanks for the feedback. A few Slash 4x4 Platinum and Stampede 4x4 is coming to our LHS. Since both are going to be priced the same and have the same mechanicals, it just seems more worth the bucks to get the Slash Platinum with the all the alloy stuff. Just wondering if all the improvements made on the Stampede 4x4 is also applied to the Slash 4x4...
Hi URC/Jang, just curious, have you ever encountered the dreaded motor mount bearing failure so many Slash 4x4 owners are having now? Does the Stampede 4x4 have the same problem since they both basically share the same drive train? Has Traxxas taken any steps to rectify this problem as even now, the problem still seems to rear up it's ugly head? Also does the Slash 4x4 now have the alloy center shaft input gear like the Stampede 4x4 ? The original one was plastic, right?
@viperz1357 I haven't had that problem yet, but I regularly check and clean that bearing to make sure it doesn't get a chance to seize up. 4 screws, a quick clean & relub, reassemble, and done. I'm not aware of any running fixes from Traxxas. Not sure if the Slash 4x4 got the metal front "hub" yet as I haven't gotten a new Slash 4x4.
@viperz1357 mine was running perfectly fine for like 3 charges i was being a little rough but i didnt get it dirty at all and when i parked it for a minuet i left it running because i didnt think it would matter and when i came back to continue driving it i tapped the throttle on the remote and i heard a loud grinding sound and iit didnt move so im pretty pissed off if you know how to fix it please tell me thank you
On average driving it just like you are in this video review without crashing it, how long before you haft to start replacing parts?

I've been looking at the 1/16 Summit VXL lately though, I really like the wheels on it, and the fact that it would go way faster than my E-Revo. I do, however, have a Stampede VXL 2WD that I totally have a blast with. After this video, I'm leaning more in the direction of the 4x4 'Pede VXL. I'm a basher too, BTW.

the main problem I have with my stampede 4x4 vxl is I have only had is for 2 monthes and I have replaced 2 rear stub axles and a rear half shaft. does anyone else have to replace them that often? I do run mine pretty hard, but damn. metal parts please traxxas?
iiNsaneXBLVideos 8 months ago
Jeng how the hell can I get my Stampede and Slash to stop eating U-joints or axles or whatever the are??? Or is there an upgrade. I got MIP CVD's on the way I hope that helps. Or is this just considered acceptable?

i can't decide on the stampede 4x4 or the mini summit vxl, which one is better?
nerrysgamenrc 9 months ago
I went to my local hobby shop to buy an emaxx, the guy up there said that unless you just had to have an emaxx, go with the stampede 4x4. I bought the stampede and i love it. 1 battery operation means alot. My revo takes 2 at a time, it sucks. This thing goes any where. I drive it hard, jumps, wheelies, water, rocks, dust, rolls and cartwheels with out breaking into pieces. Its like a puppy, cant help but smile when your near it. Stock battery is good for 20 mins or so. I use a 2s lipo, a bit m

How fast does it go
BrodieBoy1234 9 months ago
@BrodieBoy1234 30mph out of the box. with more powerful batteries you can get it to go 40-60mph.

acedheroHD 10 months ago
@acedheroHD well do you want one for road/speed(Rustler) or one for off-road/mud(Stampede) its your money dude. you decide. I got the Stampede because I live where there is alot of dirt and grass. If I got the rustler I wouldnt have many places to drive it on.

I am just getting into hobby grade RCs and am thinking about getting the original stampede 2wd for bashing. Would this be a good choice given that I am a beginner?

Does the Stampede 4x4 vxl a standing backflip?
seepel 10 months ago
I'm looking into either getting the stampede VXL or the stampede 4 x 4 VXL. Regardless of which one I get I will be upgrading it so it will be reaching the 60mph max speed. Money is not an issue, but I don't want to simply throw money away buying the 4 x 4 VXL if there is not a signifigant performance variation between the two. What is your opinion on the matter? Also, regarding 3s lip0 11.1V batteries what brand do you recommend for achieving maximum run time?

How is this truck speed compared to the mini e revo vxl? PLZ RELY
9999Drake 11 months ago
@9999Drake erevo vxl is 65 with best battery this is 60 with best battery
mrrocks3578 11 months ago
@9999Drake No, mrrocks3578 is wrong. Only the 1/10 scale E-revo Brushless is 65 MPH. The Mini e-Revo VXL is only 50+ MPH. This Stampede 4X4 is faster than a mini e revo.

Thanks for the feedback. A few Slash 4x4 Platinum and Stampede 4x4 is coming to our LHS. Since both are going to be priced the same and have the same mechanicals, it just seems more worth the bucks to get the Slash Platinum with the all the alloy stuff. Just wondering if all the improvements made on the Stampede 4x4 is also applied to the Slash 4x4...
viperz1357 1 year ago
Hi URC/Jang, just curious, have you ever encountered the dreaded motor mount bearing failure so many Slash 4x4 owners are having now? Does the Stampede 4x4 have the same problem since they both basically share the same drive train? Has Traxxas taken any steps to rectify this problem as even now, the problem still seems to rear up it's ugly head? Also does the Slash 4x4 now have the alloy center shaft input gear like the Stampede 4x4 ? The original one was plastic, right?
viperz1357 1 year ago
@viperz1357 I haven't had that problem yet, but I regularly check and clean that bearing to make sure it doesn't get a chance to seize up. 4 screws, a quick clean & relub, reassemble, and done. I'm not aware of any running fixes from Traxxas. Not sure if the Slash 4x4 got the metal front "hub" yet as I haven't gotten a new Slash 4x4.
UltimateRCnetwork 1 year ago
@UltimateRCnetwork there is no metal front hub i got my in july 2011
TheFlippo123 4 months ago
@viperz1357 mine was running perfectly fine for like 3 charges i was being a little rough but i didnt get it dirty at all and when i parked it for a minuet i left it running because i didnt think it would matter and when i came back to continue driving it i tapped the throttle on the remote and i heard a loud grinding sound and iit didnt move so im pretty pissed off if you know how to fix it please tell me thank you
