For your information, my mother choreographs many of the shows at the Palace. It is not the choreographer's fault if the cast does not have much dance experience. None of you have any idea how hard she works on these plays. I also think that some of you are forgetting that this is a community theater. Why don't you do everyone a favor and stop being so damn negative?!

It doesn't matter that it's community theatre...The theatre should strive to be the best or it's not fair to the ticket buyers. Respect your audience, put on a good show for them. Don't set limits by saying "it's only community theatre."

@singtomepianoman In agreement with ajt141, I don't think "community" should be a limiting factor (as far as effort goes). I can appreciate that many of these performers don't have dance experience, BUT I think for that reason, maybe there just shouldn't be the same extended dance sequences. The singer (and indeed, all the harmonies) are just too amazing by comparison, so the dances just drag it down. Nothing against your mother as a choreographer--she did very well with what she had.

The theater was built in the 1920s and renovated in the 1990s. It was originally only a movie theater. There is absolutely NO backstage or "green room"....the actors have to cross an alley to change, etc. They do absolutely AMAZING work with what they have. All the actors are volunteers and the choreographer is a math teacher. So much of the credit goes to the Artistic Director who has built this group into what it is today...a great place for people of all ages who love theater.

(my toast looks sexier than that!!) Mrs. Kleister (my science and drama teacher) would kill everyone and make them do it again if she saw this. a real disgrace to Anything Goes

I was watching a few of these Georgetown Palace clips with the choreographer, stage director, and music director of my high school shows. We've done better than this, and we just did "Anything Goes" this year. The choreography isn't that great, but I think that's due to the fact that the stage is so small and there's little room to move around. The orchestra is great.

I wouldn't be proud of that opinion which runs against all logic and reality. Artists performing onstage as particular characters perform as written by the composer and director. There is much more freedom given performers doing concerts to inject their own flavor into what they are doing. What you are infering is that performing during a concert is boring...tell that to those at rock concerts.

This is an amateur production, and very low-budget. They do a fantastic job with the talent they have to work with! Patty is just over the top terrific. I work for the costumer of the show, and Patty sure struts that red dress, doesn't she!
