@RussianRenegade VTEC engages at 5500RPM in this car with K24A2 engine; and they don't "lose torque" or "bog down." It makes peak horsepower at 7,000RPM and peak torque at 4,500RPM. Also, your statement about VTEC equipped cars with less power is just false, if not the complete opposite. Also; that you lose power before VTEC engages. Finally, the cams don't "switch," they move. I've been an Acura mechanic for 10 years.
@Tosh2048 U can go to a shop that tunes cars and everything like that so they can tune it they charge about 150 to 200 bux they retune and u chose when u want the vtec to kick in.
@xxnissansilviaxx i topded the new 2010 2.4 to only 129 its just to heavy its 3 inches longer and almost 4 inches wider it dosent feal as nimbel as the older models and it feals like pudding when you are turning
@cubbieboi no - automatic in the tsx dosent show up in tht little display under the mile display, only in manual sport shift mode those number lights up in it, and eny way automatic most likely want red line as hard as he dose. "just for the recored i do it too"
haha finally another car that has the same problem as mine. gears that last forever matched to a peaky motor. why couldnt they just hook it up with a 5th or a 6th gear. chet
really nice never thought a tsx can do over 135mph thats better than my altima 2.5sl that toped out at 134mph in 5th gear cvt tranny using manual mode thats great 142 in 4th gear
Uh god I can't stand watching the stock Rev/Ratios for the automatic. I have an 07' auto "wife's car" and I'm amazed that Honda put these ratios in this car. . . . . I mean it falls out of VTEC every shift! And 4th Gear, 142MPH !! wtf honda. . . . . .
i mean of course its hard to drive with one hand at over 100 mph, but your axles/shocks/coilovers/ etc are probably messed up as well. it is an old car after all..
how can u still be in 4th gear and going 142. i have the same exact car and hit exactly 142 but theres no way the rpms just stay like while the car gains speed in 4th
you honda haters are stupid.you cant ever get wrong with a honda. b18 gsr can keep up with g35s or the Z's or smoke some sr20s or some s2000 you cant ever go wrong with a honda..
I do not know why idiots diss the Acura TSX? Does this car is not what you call slow you power hungry retards. Its decent. But if you idiots that diss the car want to argue lets argue. If it sucks so much how does it get up to 142 MPH with just an n/a inline4 engine? Honda is a good company let me show you the proof. An Infiniti G35 has twice the cylinder and about 100 more HP, and the G35 can on top out at 160. That's only 18 MPH less, and it has way more power. Honda engineering is the best.
@NigguhJason I like the tsx, but there are some things wrong with your comment. The g35 has a 3.5l v6, the tsx has a 2.4l i4, therefore the g35 does not have twice the amount of cylinders. Also, performance is not just a means of top speed, acceleration is also a key component. How fast these two cars get to their top speeds is a totally different case.
at :28 did you let off the gas or did your TSX bog down? Mine seems to bog/struggle when its around 6500rpm only in 3rd gear, everytime. Any idea what causes it?
@Tosh2048 its the cams it hapens when your low end cam swiches to the high end cam if you have a 07 and under tsx you can fing a programer that alows you to mess with the cam change to a lower rpm and how fast you want them to change if you are like me and got the 08 tsx well acura kinda kilded off the option to mess with your car there are no true chips or reflash programs that work well enuf for you to wast your mony on i know i checked.
Most Vtec Hondas lose a bit of torque and horsepower just before the vtec crossover. As you noticed that this occurs at 6500 RPM on the TSX. It does the same with the new TL's, just not as noticeable.
My 2007 buick lacrosse 3.8 is faster and probably gets better fuel economy. All it has is a k&n drop in air filter. On the highway I get between 32-34 mpg at speeds between 65-75. In the city it gets 20-23 mpg.
nice for a big natural 4cyl but acura need more power for this model maybe the same turbocharger 2.4 in the SUV , THAT IS THE REAL DEAL FOR 30 GRAND WAO !

TSX is a really nice car but way too slow. 2.4L and 200 hp? Why not drop the 2.4L turbo from the mdx? 240hp and more torque. These cars are very smooth and well made but are underpowered.
