  • I would love to play it

  • i will buy it and give him interest, got to say tha game looks pretty damn good...

  • Do you know when this come out to Xbox live? I am waiting for this game! Thanks

  • wow the game runs so smoothly :) its Awesome !

  • is this on pc?

  • So sad this isn't going on the PSN.

  • CUS the PS3 was made out of PHAIL!

and XNA is only for deh Xbaux 360

  • You just owned yourself.

  • no you own3d urself by making a useless comment ......

    oh wait

    i just own3d myself .___.c

  • Nice! I want play!!

  • I would definetly welcome it to XBL. Reminds me of Trine, Muramasa and Dishwasher.

  • You are one of the most retarded people I've seen on Youtube. Congratulations.

    to stay on topic: Bought.

  • hay id buy it if it was on XBLA i love the art.

  • This is the game that won the grand prize for Microsofts Dream.Build.Play.

  • Great Job ! ^_^

  • Pre-Alpha my ass. That looks very playable

  • I find it strange that people try to desegregate people of diffrent interests like its some kind of racial thing.

They way people talk and make it sound like being a fur is like being an entire new race.

    :L

Its more compareable to being called a "gamer" if anything. like having a flexable code of ethics and some what of a developed way of doing things.

    :3

  • This is awesome. I didn't know an idie, hi-def game could be so attractive looking!

  • Good game. seems like muramasa: demon blade. Yet amazingly made in XNA

  • Furries are not my taste but this looks beautiful nontheless

  • This game is of commercial quality!

:) simply amazing, i wish i could code as good as yourself :)

  • bee-yoo-ti-ful

  • You made this in XNA? Holy crap. Will this be the first community game I buy? No offense to anyone, but the vast majority of community games that are on Live now are rubbish and totally not worth their asking price.

  • A Game a furry has made that looks... Dare I say it? Not totally ass!

Oden Sphere for the win! Keep up the evident good work

  • from what ive heard it was just a game made for the sake of being a game, not made by (from what i understand) or for furries, and i do have to say it looks like a very interesting game, i do eventualy get sick of all the 3d crap. i looks as though it would be fun and im looking forward to trying it.

  • Wow, this looks awesome.

  • Gonna save up some MSP's, in hope we see this on the arcade store :D keep up the great work! looks amazing!

  • Hope to see this on Live soon! good work.

  • good luck with this.Hope to see it on xbox live.Looks fantastic!

  • Good luck on DBP, your game looks amazing!

  • Absolutely beautiful.

  • Marvelous game!

And indeed the video game really needs more furry themed games...

  • looks amazing, hope it's also released on xbox live arcade

  • This is phenomenol! The graphics are slick. Are you working on this on your own?!

    Good luck with DBP!

  • XNA can make this?!!

  • Still games dont build themselves.

Looks like zombiesmashing in a fairy-tale look on a first glance btw.

  • It is supposed to be a compliment for the hard work, lol :)

    I looove fairy-tales.

  • Lol, I'm not sure why you got a thumbs down, but thanks for the compliment. And to the original poster, yeah XNA is pretty powerful once you get to know it.

  • i think you've done a pretty amazing job with XNA considering your 20 year break from coding and jumping into it and producing what i see (not just the art but the coded effects, both of which are beautiful).

  • that looks amazing, well except for the yiffing part.

  • How many people are on your team? Cause this is impressive. Good luck in DBP, probably you won't neet it.

  • Just beautiful! And good luck with DBP!

  • Are you entering this for the next Dream Build Play?

Even the past winners have had underwhelming graphics, but this looks and moves better than most games developed professionally by dozens of artists and animators.

  • Thanks for the comments. Yep, I'm entering DBP... wish me luck!

  • good luck!!!

  • The animation is insanely good. This reminds me of another XNA fighting game, also made by only one person, The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai.

  • saw the 2002 work for the love of this moving i hope the voice acting has improved

  • Awesome game and graphics!

  • This game needs to come out soon so I can buy it :).

  • Thanks everyone for the feedback. I'm working as fast as I can to get it into your hands!

  • Very impressive. Animation is wicked. Feedback of control is solid -- usually missing in most games, especially beat 'em ups and arcade-style games where it's so crucial. I can just 'feel' that it was done right by watching. Can't wait to play it.

  • Very impressive and beautiful!

  • No doubt, one of the best Indie games I've ever seen.

The animations are fluid and very professional. I think the atmosphere of each enviroment matches very well, especially the forest. I also enjoy the music. It goes great with the game I must say. And I love Beat em up games, and this is exactly the style of combat I look forward to in a Beat em up; Intense, raw, flat out melee fighting. Not to mention the great animations along with it.

Overall, I'm really impressed! Good luck! :)

  • Very nice :) Worth 5 stars :)

  • Love the animation. The sword swipe effects look a bit out of place though, a bit cheap looking.

  • It does look very well done, and it's pre-alpha! Should be great once it's released.

Watch it in HQ guys - very smooth there!

Will it be on the PC platform?

  • I think the PC doesn't support XNA.

  • It does? Oh nevermind.

  • of course PC supports XNA... where do you think XNA games are made? very cool looking game BTW...

  • That's awesome, where can I get it when it comes out?

  • Looks amazing, reminds me of "Eight Days". You're an awesome animator.

In fact, you encouraged me to use XNA.

  • great

  • very good!

  • Wiiの"朧村正"?

Is it "Muramasa: The Demon Blade" of Wii?

  • It *looks* similar, doesn't seem to be as dark.

    However, I wouldn't think so.

Here is another take on it. The gentleman is making the game for the xbox, while muramasa is for the wii.

  • Animation is way too 'flashy'. Ends up looking annoying to me.

  • 12,000 to 17 thousand in one day wow dean great job dean.anyways i guess your game is gonna be a lil like mine as in a action adventure rpg plat former i know the footage i have now is a bit wack but wait till you guys see the revamped art and combat system. the new visuals are jaw dropping. i promise a good rival for you so for people who might blast this comment wait for the updated footage to arrive. thanks and good luck dean see you at DBP I hope

  • Oh my. Furry or no, that is pretty.

  • Gorgeous! I've heard the makers of jazz jackrabbit have a hand in this.. anyone confirm? When will it be out and for which platform?

  • Heh, I can see that you were heavily inspired by Odin Sphere and Muramasa Demon Blade. Nothing wrong with that, good luck on the project!

  • Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgious!!! It's a bit too zoomed-in for my playing tastes, but the flow is clean and polished. Also, excellent job with the UI's and the sense of "character identity".

  • Wow Pre-Alpha and it already looks amazing. Good work!

  • It's really, really heartwarming to see someone using anthropomorphic design in a tasteful manner to create something as gorgeous as this. This is something we definately need more of. It took me a while to realise that the main character is a wolf though, since his hood covers so much of his face. The animations are standout, and I know from experience how time consuming 24 fps animation can be.

    Keep up the fantastic work.

  • Thanks, I appreciate the comments. There will be a lot more to see when I make an 'official' announcement!

  • Beautiful.

  • Not sure there's much of a market for side scrollers but then we did just release Castle Crashers.

In any case, graphically this is awesome. Can't say anything about how it plays until I get a controller in my hands but it is incredibly beautiful.

  • Not a market for side scrollers? Some of the best upcoming games are side scrollers, kid.

  • Not really, not when measured by the industry overall. Infamous, Heavy Rain, Diablo 3, Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2; to name a just few that are big on other platforms. And I can vouch for at least two of them having impressive pedigrees

  • Braid, Castlevania:Portrait Of Ruin and Order of Eclesia, Castle Crashers, Alien Hominid Contra 4, Bionic Commando Rearmed, Stargunner etc.

  • Those are all for handhelds or XBox LIVE though. Other categories are also getting powerful contenders such as Bioshock 2, sequel to a straight up masterpiece in video game storytelling.

  • Only on 360?

  • Uh, yeah. Do you not know what XNA is?

  • Nope.

  • Damn, this is awesome. Looking forward to seeing its completion.

  • You should probably add some casual murder/prositution too . Whilst you are there you should probably make it pseudo gothic, make the character a broody teenage vampire and have him spew out trendy teenage phrases such as "SWEET" and "AWESOME"

  • You apparently never played Jazz Jackrabbit have you?

  • Jazz Jackrabbit occured in an age before furries were a topic of a CSI episode and the internet was around to help it fester in the perversion it is today.

  • Okay, let me rephrase that. You never played Sly Cooper have you?

  • Or Starfox for that matter.

  • True, I had almost forgotten about Fox McCloud but then I wasn't that much of a Nintendo fanboy

  • So essentially, because of the fandom's generally poor reputation, people are not allowed to use anthropomorphic character design anymore in mainstream media? Please, anthropomorphism is a perfectly valid way to add appeal to a character. No way is this art form going to die out. And yes, I said 'art form.' if you do your research, you'll find that Kemono/anthro art goes back a long way.

  • What, and make it just like the other ten billion games that have human characters?

  • This looks beautiful and has definitely sprung an interest in me for Elysian Tail, in general.

  • Wow, this is probably the best 2D art I've ever seen. I loved the Jazz Jackrabbit games, so I can't wait to see how you do with this.

  • Oh my, this almost slipped past me unnoticed. I always enjoy new stuff from you! I was starting to think you'd left the planet or something!

This looks amazing so far. Keep up the awesome!

  • Thanks, I'm pretty quiet but always busy :)

  • what are those slash effects called are they hand drawn? and did you use torquex it kinda looks like it?

  • Sword trail was rendered in CG, slash effects were handpainted. And no, I didn't use Torque, just coded into XNA.

  • thanks man great stuff sword trails whats thatlike code wise since you said they are cg renderd

  • Wow look at the animation! Did you create the characters in 3D and then draw & paint over them as 2D?

  • Hi, it's all done traditionally, however a few 3D elements are overlaid on top of the traditional animation.

  • You must have a lot of frames for each movements, most people or even company would get so lazy on this. Is your game too big for xbox acrade? Heard the limit is really small, looking forward to play your game on any platform.

  • Wow, what gorgeous animation! And the combat looks significantly more interesting than Odin Sphere, which I see this is being compared to quite a bit.

I'm starting development on an xbox game as well in XNA. I'd love to chat with you sometime!

  • Fluid animation, very good looking levels and creative and appealing character design.

I'm very impressed by this, not to mention happy to yet again see how much creativity the indie developers put into their games, especially when it comes to art direction.

The music fits very well too, makes the entire thing come together nicely.

Are you the only one working on this? Because that would be beyond impressive!

Keep up the great work, looking forward to more footage :)

    Oh and JJ still rocks

  • Thank you. Aside from music, I'm doing everything.

  • Fluid animation, beautiful backgrounds, hectic action. I'm definitely interested in this.

I do have a question: Is this just going to be for XBLA, or is it going to one day be on PSN as well? If so, this'd be the second game on my to-buy list off it. ^_^

  • Thanks for the comments. At the moment it's only being done in XNA, but I haven't made any platform announcements yet.

  • Cry maor.

  • Really dude, you going to write off superb animation skill and creative character design just because the character is anthropomorphic? I feel sorry for you.

  • wow looks awesome

  • One of the best 2d games I have seen so far.

However I love the furries but this needs characters that look like Dissidea instead.

But still Im looking right at this one for the winner.

  • wow this is .....beautiful

  • Wow! This looks amazing!

This is what Castlevania should look like on consoles.

    IGA I'm looking at you.

  • I love me some Castlevania, big time.

  • need on 360!

  • BUYING THIS on 360!

  • Smooth and full of ambiance. Wow.

  • AAAA+++ Fantastic.. I'll buy it upon release if it's on xbox360 : -D

  • Nice spritework man! Looks pretty punchy, I'm really looking forward to this =)

  • Amazing, considering the complexity of the game, effects and taking account the code optimizations needed to run smooth in the PowerPC architecture

  • Very nice.

  • Looks great.

  • Funny how we get excited about games just because they are 2D now, much like we were with 3D games in the past.

Though, modern 2D games are certainly much more deserving of praise than early 3D ones, at least for graphics.

  • also remember how great these games look in comparison to past 2d games ;). While some games have higher quality sprites, this is beyond that in every way.

  • The gameplay reminds me of Odin Sphere and Oboro Muramasa, which is a good thing! I'll be keeping an eye on this one, looks like a day one purchase whenever it hits XBLA!

  • Brilliant! Cant wait to play it. Id love to see more games like this on the Community Games channel, with quality art and 2D hi'res gameplay.

  • you should enter the XNA 2009 Dream. Build. Play contest. there is no doubt in my mind that you will win and get a deal XBLA contract.

  • Old, get a new insult.

  • Stunning! Definite buy.

  • PRE-ALPHA! OH MY GAH!

  • Wish this was for PS3 too...looks AMAZING

  • Looks Kinda Ninja Gaiden Gameplay to me..

    No Offence dude..

But this looks fucking nice dude ^^

  • Good job man. Keep at it. I'm definitely going to check this out and even buy when it's out =)

  • Damn this game looks really fun. Even for an Alpha build, I am surprised to see how polished it looks just from this video.

  • fuck.... reminds me of Odin sphere... and that new game on the wii.... must buy....

  • omg this needs to be on xbla

  • whoa

  • Yeah I think this will definately be my first XNA Purchase.

  • wow....I went from not even knowing of this game to having it jump to the very top of my list. Incredible work and if by any chance you could use some extra music, please let me know as I compose full orchestra songs as a side hobby. :)

  • Can't wait. Now now now!

  • That does look really sweet. Do you have a timeframe for release?

  • Thanks. No timeframe at the moment, still working away ;) Hopefully within a few months, but don't quote me on that!

  • games look bad ass

  • Stunning. I'd honestly push for a publisher to get a XBLA release here.

  • time frame on when you are putting this on xna, please?!?

  • Internet high standards, geez.

This game looks fantastic, especially by XNA standards.

  • XNA huh?

you should try publishing this awesome looking game on XBLA if you get the chance :)

  • That's awesome!! Great work!!

  • very nice man... Just make the fonts bigger for accessibility reasons ;)

but well... very nice anyway =D

  • Thanks! Hud is fully adjustable for SD TVs.

  • That looks absolutely amazing. Nice work so far.

  • Beautiful.

  • Anyof you XBOX employees or game studios out there oughta consider making this game. I know Noogy and he's not only an amazing programmer, but an amazing animator as well.

Give this man a chance! His work speaks for itself!

  • this game looks amazing. great artwork and animation.
