They aren't comparable, its a common misconception that the only difference between men and women is their strength and speed. Unfortunately this isn't the case. Men have better 3D spatial visualization, as well as better depth perception. Men also have a section of brain devoted entirely to hitting a moving object. For this reason men are more skillful, thats the end of it. Clearly women are better at some things, just not football...

Just thought that I might point out that 3D visualization is the same thing as depth perception...considering that what makes 3D is the ability to be perceive depth. And both men and women have the same depth perception

Men do have do generally have better spatial perception...which is different and maybe what you meant?

Also...not sure that they have mapped a brain well enough to know that a portion of the motor cortex is devoted to specifically hitting moving objects.

However...I would like to point out that these are generalities based on the the masses. On a case my case basis the differences in these areas can be alot less pronounced. Women especially gifted in spatial awareness and muscle coordination probably could compete with men on those levels.

The only part that no woman can match is the benefits of the male physicality

It is not "only strength" it's pace, strength, power, stamina and pretty much any physical attribute you can imagine. Im not saying Kelly isnt a great player, just that she has no chance of making it in mens. The lack of funding and sponsorship in the womens game is another hinderence. Also for some reason (not sure why) all of the women goal keepers seem to be terrible! Im not being sexist, it is true that they all suck!

BTW so far as stamina is concerned,women have a slight natural edge over men there. I've been a long distance runner & strength trainer for 36 years & studied physiology for the same period of time. The explosive muscle power will mean that men will always win. Women have the slight edge to keep going but at a lower speed. Training,however, tends to eradicate any advantage they have. Kelly Smith is the best player ever. I saw her play in the U.S. for the Philadelphia team and she was awesome. Unfornately she was injured most of the time. I was at the game when she tore her acl. That was hard to watch. Everyone knew right away what happened, you could hear the pop. I did get to meet her. She is very sweet and shy in person, off the field. On the field she is crazy in a good way. That is a part of what makes her so great.
