Damn, kudos to these guys for managing to get decent TOD lighting on the Wii. That actually looks pretty badass. Not bad for a 729Mhz processor and only 3MB of VRAM. 0.o
@Miiaku first off, thats a 729 Mhz "PowerPC" processor and second, it has nothing to do with graphics. The TEV on the Hollywood GPU is what is doing the lighting.
At least this shows that Factor 5 still cares about Nintendo's consoles. They're having trouble putting the original Rogue Squadron on the Virtual Console with legal issues and employee payment problems.
It says on both Wikipedia and the Star Wars Wiki that they "closed their doors" around that date because of employment payment and legal issues, but the Factor 5 website is still there so I don't know. They still have a "TBA" project on the site.
Actually as of now, I think even High Voltage's attempt could be looked badly upon. Unless they remove all the slowdown I've seen, people will still ttalk badly about Wii's performance.
I mean, the game still doesn't look like the better xbox1 games out (Riddick or Doom3). SW:RS2-3 impresses me alittle more then The Conduit personally. So big and fluid, yet so much bump mapping and nice effects.
silence the conduit is not even done and ign and gamespot already says it looks better than halo 2 graphics wise but wii ram is smaller it cant handle too many player unlike halo 2 but other 3rd parties like high voltage really needs to try harder.
It wasn't really about the game though, but the engine technology for an upcoming exclusive. Of course, with Factor 5's troubles we have no idea if it will ever see the light of day.

Very true, even RS2(which came out on the gamecubes launch date) looks better than most Wii game out there right now.

Factor 5 are capable of making it close as possible to the PS3 build.
Oni64 3 years ago
I think it would be better then High Voltage's attempt too, look at SW:RS2-3. That's a GC game too.
silenceofthehills 2 years ago
Wow, I guess Factor 5 wasn't lying when they said the Wii had potential other developers weren't taking advantage of.
Lair may have been a better (more well recieved anyway) game for Wii than PS3.

This pisses me off to no ends. Why does every company (except high voltage) neglect us.

Yea, I think that's why the release was delayed to remove all the bugs and slowdowns.

I know. I just think F5 would do so much better. Seen some of their other canceled work at unseen64 and it's amazing. You should take a look.
GC has even smaller ram & has hords of enemies on screen with the SW:RS. Vram only stores texture veriety & front/back/z-buffers.
Polys go with bandwidth & a geo engine buffer. Because they'd have enough for the consoles max polys, there isn't a thing to worry about.
It's all about the engine having it "out of the box". Been that way w ps2/GC too.

I think devs are too lazy.

Lair... On the Wii!?
Madnam 3 years ago
When you say Lair, it's nothng to do with the PS3 game?
ScrewAttackEurope 3 years ago
yeah, it is a downgraded Wii port of the original Lair 3D engine that was on the PS3
monokoma 3 years ago
Interesting, I doubt it'll happen now though, Lair has too much of a stigmata about it now.
It'd be like porting Haze to the Wii.
