I used to drum when I was younger (no lessons), and I can do all these riffs, too, but still. they are complex if you are new to meshuggah. regardless, these are meant to sound good not be overly difficult to play.

Yes, that works fine, but it's a bad way to learn double bass since the tension on each pedal will be different, you'll be investing time in terrible technique.
