Great bike. I had a 1982 XL500 that I bought new. It was great. This one, the XL650L seems far more powerful. Nice riding & great control friend.

I sold it about 12 months ago , and still kicking myself for it .
Was a good bike maybe a bit heavy and you have to love kickstart
but other than that loved it.

@HuskTE510 What did you replace it with? I have a 650R myself and every now and then I decide on something new but end up 'fixing' something on the old XR in the process of preparing it for sale... which makes me decide to keep it because 'now' to runs bute! etc etc. Its never run bad or had a problem unless I crocked up the jetting (Got to love discovering you have it way too rich at the bottom of a looong snotty hill run). EFI is tempting. The art of kicking is a must.

@HuskTE510 Comment removed? What is the recommended maintenance like on the 510 VS the 650R? Is the 510 more in like with a WR450 and the like (10hr intervals) or do they stretch it out a bit more? It's easy to google the owners manual but just wondering what you run with.

@denyboy15 8 months late but.... Yeah, almost certain that he is riding in Australia. The trees give it away (Gums for e.g.). Also a quick look at his profile lists him as being Australian. I was trying to work out where in AUS he is riding but gave up lol.
