The intense stare at the chip. That look and fake laugh after the phone call. The desperate look around on the street corner. The swinging of the phone, as he screams, "She's hurt! She's hurt!" The constant accusations of being "lucky." That near stumble on the golf course. And the immortal "Lakers! Lakers!" Ryan O'Neal just rules. Give this man his Oscar. If we do, we'll get an "Oh god, oh man!" for sure.

How could you leave out the scene where he is in a poker game with that sexy middle aged blond who takes him to the cleaners. He plays to take down the brassy, flashy blond. She just plays each hand according to the odds. She get his goat good. The other players are all but drooling over the blond, dying to light her cigarette. The only good scene in the film. Very disappointing film from Richard Brooks ("In Cold Blood", "Elmer Gantry"). Very weak ending.
