I had a wonderful ten-day stay in France last week. I went to France on October 23, 2011, and returned home on November 3, 2011. I saw a lot of those sights that are shown in this video. :-D

Over 200 million dollars were spent on our revolution by the French, leading to the downfall of Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette and their subsequent beheadings.

@NerdyNerdMajor -- Roosevelt's hands were tied in 1940 by US neutrality legislation, but he couldn't have done much anyway, since the US was not prepared to go to war. Had Americans recognized the Nazi threat earlier and been willing to face up to international responsibilities, maybe things would have turned out differently. Lend Lease was not passed until March 1941, by the way. And no amount of political leadership would have saved France in 1940 -- they were outmanned and outgunned.

As an American citizen, I unlike many other of my brethren, have not forgot the huge role that the French played in the American Revolution. The saved our ass from the British, and we helped clear out the Nazis. I would like to further distance myself from those who claim that the French "owe' us. They owe us nothing. Never thought I would say this...but God Bless the French.

@PedroahTheDestroah As an American citizen and a dedicated Francophile, I also have not forgotten the role that the French government played in the American revolution. Over 200 million dollars were spent on our revolution by the French, leading to the downfall of Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette and their subsequent beheadings.
And let us not forget the Vichy Government during WW II. We need to respect France and what they did for our country.

@PedroahTheDestroah Especially when you consider the fact that the French asked for help after our own revolutionary victory and we had to refuse them because we were a weakened fledgling country and the founding fathers were afraid that our stability was fragile. Well, it took long enough, but we did come through, eventually. They are our brothers and sisters in spirit and we should show them a lot more respect than the loons on the right wing do.

The Rosevelt Administration worked hard trying to help the allies, France was defeated because of an incompetent leadership, not because America stayed out of the war. Had America not cared about the war it would have concentrated 90% of it's resources on the Pacific instead of Atlantic furthermore even before Hitler declared war remember Lend Lease and the U Boot campaign? @NerdyNerdMajor -- Roosevelt's hands were tied in 1940 by US neutrality legislation, but he couldn't have done much anyway, since the US was not prepared to go to war. Had Americans recognized the Nazi threat earlier and been willing to face up to international responsibilities, maybe things would have turned out differently. Lend Lease was not passed until March 1941, by the way. And no amount of political leadership would have saved France in 1940 -- they were outmanned and outgunned.

The reason the US didn't join WW2 untill they were pushed in was for the simple reason that it was another bloody European pawn game that was just one in a series of many prior.. All through out the 18th and 19th century and prior.

kitycalifornia, I'm half French, and proud of it. I'm also very proud to be an American. I would fight to the death for either country. My French family lost many friends during WWII, and if it were not for the US, you'd be speaking German. People like you don't deserve the right to live in the US.
