With all this cutting and stretching in several steps the risk of contaminating the wound is much higher than if you pierce it with a needle and just follow it through with the jewellery. So the risk of infecion is higher. Also you can easily rupture the tissue here. Or there can be bleeding. And the result is more likely to come out crooked.
