Check out Steve's site for other ideas and recommendations. I use this saw and it's fine for weekend work, but I'm already thinking of upgrading. It is worth doing some research and thinking through how much you will use the saw. Steve is right about using good blades - take his advice and buy good ones, not the ones that come with it or the ones you get from most stores - go on line.to mikesworkshop. com Some nice blades there.
im into model railroading and im wanting to build my own structures with either mat board or foamcore board and i was wondering if this would be a wist tool for that purpose? have you or anyone else reading this seen people use the scroll saws for building walls? thanks for the help
Good informative and educational videos. Thanks. Two minor recommendations to your viewers. When you get your tension set where you like it, take a sharpie and make a mark on the tension knob, and on the saw itself as an index mark. Install the blade, turn the knob to the index mark and the tension should be set. For the rough table, sand it with 120 grit sandpaper on a belt sander. Then teflon spray it, then wax it with a candle, or parafin block. Anyway, great videos. I learn a lot from you.
Good review and great advice on what to expect from an entry level saw. In the UK there are many entry level saws like the one your showed. Now I have a better idea what to look out for, before buying. Thanks
Hi Steve, I have this saw and have been using it for about 2 months I havent had any problems with it, the thickest wood that I cut with it was as thick as the saw would allow 2 3/4 inches no problem at all ( the jewelry box pic I sent you)
would you go for the model above this one or would you go to the highest priced model from sears after you try this one for awhile? the tiltable unit that the frame tilts all in one, independent from the table, is the one i'm looking at. thanks for all you do for us scrollers''''!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks. Good Video. I am looking forward to visiting your site.

So this thing probably couldn't cut through a 3 in piece of wood right?
I guess I'll find out tomorrow morning because I just bought one earlier today.
Probably should have done more research before purchasing.
