You are wrong in your understandings. The Meso-Americans followed a calendar system. Among the mesoamerican culture was the Maya. They were all but wiped away by spainards, but in that was overturned the sunstone that would become known as the mayan calendar. The "Mayan Calendar" ends a long cycle of time. Ancient cultures such as the mesoamerica have stated there were 4-5 worlds before this one. 2012 just represents the end of the world, as a cycle of time, not an end of planet nor mankind.

well first of all, its very unlikely a comet will hit the earth we'd be more likely to get eaten by rapid dogs that fall from the sky all these predictions scare people and its not good because like every other doomsday prediction probably nothings going to happen.
