More popular greeting from New York than any of these is "Hey." usually accompanied with the inverted nod. Almost as ubiquitous is "Whassup" or more commonly, "S'up?"
As for good byes, "later" is the most common one I hear.
The correct plural for you is ye. But if you use that you start sounding like a shakespearian actor. You may as well be using the informal you: (thou, thee, thy, thine) which is no longer in use either. So I guess yous is a more acceptable plural of you than ye.
BUT it's the best city in tha U.S.(can't say the world bc I've never been outside the country smh), you may not like it at first, OR you may love it, but either way, you'll get used to it...hopefully lol....ENJOY!!!
For everyone who's moving to NY you'll see why we keep convo's short...BUSY life, ESP in the city...most likely you're in a rush, whether it's bc you're actually late for something, or just trying not to get ran over. Having a convo with someone is kind of hard when you're amongst 10 million ppl, 10 million agressive ppl at that. But the whole "RUDE" thing is a myth. Rude ppl are EVERYWHERE...I've lived in Atlanta and met FAR more assholes there than in NY
Thanks for all these, beats the accent how tops that the teacher gave us for our play noo yoik he says =.= and I practice some random words you say (tawk

Your ny bids are great but the accent is the city and long island, not really upstate which is where I live(not really upstate though, its like 20 min outside the city)
When I see friends walking down the halls at school, I give them that little upwards nod and mouth "wassup". Not even ment to have an question mark, 'coz thats how it is.
@Orbit283 go to 34th or 42nd and you'll see why lol People in NY move at a quick pace so when tourists walk around and take pictures they usually do so in a slow fashion and are sometimes unaware of other people around them which is not exactly the coolest thing when you're in a rush to get somewhere. But contrary to popular belief we are friendly, so visit! :)
Its not only the way u say it it's how...we use lots of hand gestures...so if u dont understand or your deaf u can basically get the gist of it by watching our hands..also the f*ck is used in almost every statement..and if u dont know the name of a person u call them by there race..its not considered to be racist..ex. u know the korean guy who works the store down the block he ripped me off telling me this sh*t a dollar when i know its 75cents..oh and blocks are streets..
I say Ya'll all the damn time and i cant imagine saying anything else. Seems most people in Austin TX really wanna know how ur doing when they ask "How ya doin." or "What cha up to?"

Haha, small world. Im from Sweden, we do the "nod" aswell, when you walk by someone you always see , but dont talk to. We also have the short answer 2 how you doing? its always good, no one wanna hear about your problems.
Damn, this has got to be my favourite accent! Awesome videos man! We do that 'inverted nod' thing in northern england too, but I think it's definitely a New Yorke thing.
Haha I've pretty much lost my New York Accent coming from Westchester, but after I moved I kind of went a standard english, but I still do a little coAffee type sounds. The head nod is definetely a New York thing cause I did it where I moved and some people were like "uhhhh... wtf? You look retarded."
