hey Steve I was wondering where in the south east would be a good place to be taught Sambo i took a little bit from a teacher about a year ago but with my working in the national guard i couldnt get any more training
BTW Steve, at around 3:30 ish when you're figure-fouring his one leg with your two: would it be a bad variation to slide your dangling leg under his butt and kind of glue yourself to his one leg with your whole body? (somewhat like an "upside down" version Eddie Bravo's half guard "lockdown" leg control)
I know that neutralizing his other leg negates his defense, but is extreme thigh control an equally acceptable strategy in your book?
Sure thing. I do that often when my triangle is locked on the outside. When I lock a triangle on the inside I prefer controlling his leg if I can. But tucking under the butt is OK too. But it will often depend on what his hands are doing. There is always more than one way to skin a cat! Generally, where my legs go is dictated by my opponent, not me.
Awesome. I'll try to keep it more free flowing. That's been my biggest leg lock obstacle so far. These drills will come in handy for that. Thanks, Steve!
