  • the arts of wushu fascinates me

  • Why are they jerking in their stretches?

Don't they know that jerking will trigger a stretch reflex that will make their muscles tighter and less flexible in the end? HUH?! Don't they?!

  • Old school stretches. That's how they've done it for years and their not about to change it. Tradition is very big when it comes to asian countries especially China.

  • Then based on the videos, do you see that they are less flexible in anyways? Do you?! Lame,...

  • not really true... considering they are all already much more flexible than you

  • i dun think so.. they also make us jerk while stretching i tried not to do it.. they think like if u pushj that way ull get more flexible faster..but hey it worked wen iw as there.

  • tut tut the olympics come from greece ,and in past times in greece wars where stoped just so the games can take place so the olympics is about peace not wu shu karate or any over martial art

  • True but remember some of the original events from ancient Greece were boxing and wrestling which are considered 'martial arts'

  • What are you saying, you ignorant!!! In the ancient olympics, you had running events, horse events, and PUGILIST events. Finally, in those ancient pugilism, the athletes could carry ANY type of blows; just biting was barred.

Please, do a favor to the world, and do some study.

  • In all things Chinese the Japanese tried to bring wushu into Japan but failed.

How can these inferiors understand the depth of such a superior, profound and unparalleled martial art that is from China?

  • way to be racist

  • I think Wushu is a greater sport then Olympics. Olympics is a primitive sport who promote freaks. People who participate in Olympics have a freak nature towards to a specific sport, like the swimmer who has double size lungs and longer arms. We need a better sport in modern era who develop not just the body but the mind too and Wushu is the one. Olympic games are nothing compare to Wushu .

  • well, thats just ignorant...and naive

  • agreed!

  • Wushu is broadly divided into two, Taolu as in the video here (just like kata in Karate)and Sanshou (kumite in Karate),so Sanda is an integral part of Wushu.Taolu or shadow boxing/routines is the form part of Wushu.Wu in Chinese means Martial,Shu means Art. So Wushu means Martial Arts. Many people took Kung Fu for Chinese Martial Arts (because of Hong Kong Martial Arts movies)but as such the word Kung Fu doesn't mean martial Arts.

  • exactly, you can for example have good kung fu in swimming, cooking and household chores.

  • Sanda is a part of Wushu. Taolu isn't pretty much like gymnastics, very different elements. But yea sanda or taolu wushu should be in the olympics.

  • it's beautiful but it doesn't show you how to 'fight'

  • WuShu has both performance (taolu) and combat (Sanda aka. chinese kickboxing).

  • Karate orinated from China...

  • Part of it anyway. Some things are native about karate, to Okinawa, but most is not.

  • Thats because kungfu is a martial art, not just a sport as taekwondo...

  • It's not that I'm trying to make an argument... but taekwondo isn't just a pure sport. It's also an art of war just like any other arts out there.

  • taekwondo rocks haters

  • If wushu where on olimpics game China will get all the gold and silver -.-"

no weight for china in wushu and wushu is a kung fu style

  • wushu is all shit! it no more than s..t! jake engoy is obliged to shed a million for the pintsik who miraculously won a gold medal.

  • They should have Kung-Fu in the Olympics instead of Tae Kwon Do

  • No

Taekwondo is more of an Olympic sport than Kung-Fu.

how would they keep score for Kung-Fu?

Kung-Fu is just for show and in movies. How can they bring it into competition?

Please link me to a video. I cannot find any real videos.

  • The same way they keep score for Acrobatics and Gymnastics, u dimwit

  • Hmmm do u know that taek wan comes from an acient kung fu style? I think horse. Remember kung Fu is the mother of martial art

kung fu isnt a martial art kung fu means chinese martial art there are many horse, mantis, wushu, tigre, monkey, etc

And i want to see u in a war using taek wan, wushu was the best martial art for a war.

  • Hmmm Do u know that taek wan comes from kung fu?

I think horse. Remember kung fu is the mother of martial art.

Kung fu isnt a martial art kung fu means chinese martial art that why we have diferent kind like horse, tiger, wushu, etc...

  • How do they keep score in gymnastics? form, presentation, difficulty etc. Pretty easy, TKD is lame and is irreverent these days. The skill that it takes to be on the Beijing wushu team far exceeds TKD. on the other hand it would be almost impossible for anyone to compete against the Beijing wushu team.

  • You don't know anything about Kung Fu so why say anything at all.

  • wushu not kung fu, wushu taolo is the performance side judged like gymnastics, san shou is the full contact kickboxing side, with takedowns but grappling for no more than 22 seconds unlike mma

  • in a way wushu is kung fu, kung fu literally means "advance by training", if I learn to cook better then that is kung fu. But due to the westerners knowledge kung fu is nowadays known as a style. Wushu means martial art btw, so i.e bagua zhang (wich is one of many styles of martial arts kung fu) is a wushu, if you know waht I mean.

  • haha yea. any skill can be kung fu. So yea good wushu is good kung fu. WuShu is basically just any chinese martial arts.

  • its scored point wise like gymnastics.

  • Kung fu should definitely be in the Olympics. When you consider the bullshit that the Olympics is already considering, then it's a no-brainer. They have chess and bridge under consideration, for God's sake. I'll take wushu over that -- or life saving and orienteering -- any day.

  • whoa...those kids would so kick my ass. it's so beautiful, though.

  • im so agree with helayni

how come karate and taekwondo is famous???....why not wushu is the most famous sport in the world...karate and taekwondo just using their legs or hands but wushu use all of the parts of our body...and my family love wushu than other sport even my grandma love wushu also...wushu is the best sport for martial art!! jia you wushu!! wo ai wushu!! keep it up

  • Karate and Taekwondo is famous because they kick ass and its basically easy to learn. I am Taekwondo and wushu learner for years and I still think Taekwondo is easier.

  • judo, taekwondo are overrated. they need to add wushu!

  • I hate to insult the chinese but wushu sucks balls. It is the american football of martial arts. It's too complicated to learn and it does not appeal to the whole world like taekwondo does. i'll admit that it is beautiful to watch but it won't catch on like taekwondo did.

  • lol and i hate to insult you. but its because your fat and lazy this is why u must dislike it. Your sport is shitting on the coach eating potatoe shit. Now u tell me what sucks balls? LMAO

  • Wushu rules, therefore. Traditional wushu rulese even more, depending on the quality of teaching.

  • that is so key....

  • u know a long time ago i was wondering... Y DA FUC WUSHU ISN"T IN THE OLYMPICS...its so much more awesome than judo and those kickers(cant remember if its taekwondo) sorry if i offend u but i luv wushu and most chinese martial arts wushu is just so graceful strong and fast

  • man i cant believe the olympic committee shot dwn wushu 2 be n part of da oplympics, its bullshit if u ask me... I think all styles shud be included so we kno who iz da best exactly of all styles n da world...

  • Whoa O.O

  • I agree with helayni.

I would like to see Wushu in the Olympics, but the art is so vast it is nearly impossible to create a standard of judging the sport without destroying its luster. The current scoring method using difficulty movements reflect only a tiny, and relatively insignificant, section of Wushu. In my opinion, modern Wushu has lost the "Wushu spirit" and athletes are merely performing stunt after stunt to gain points... this is not what Wushu should be like.

  • Well said

  • no it's not

gimnasium is also a large event

but yes, wushu is more than just stunts

  • WUSHU RULES! How is beach volleyball an Olympic sport and the beautiful ART of wushu is not?

  • because art is not competitive

  • Art can be comptetitive. Just as much wushu is art, it is also a sport if not more so.

  • omg.. NICEEEEEEEEEEEEE~

  • keep training chinamen and women. you've just been faked by the IOC losers. they really need to go to prison for that...use their power to ignore the most practised sport of all...

  • Cool

  • where's the wu shu then? NOT ACCEPTED BY THE IOC !!!

ITS the most practised of all sports...

those IOC losers need to be replaced

  • Big SHAME wu shu isn't accepted as olympic sport! Even shooting a gun is a olympic sport.

Boycot the games till wu shu is accepted!!!!

  • gooooooood

  • people think america special art is karate.....but it is not...it is from japan...taikwando came from korea.......but the best is the chinese...kungfu or wushu

  • I thought chinese were suppose to keep opinion to themselves.

Nothing is best, so in my opinion, TaeKwanDo is the best.

  • Who should be this ignorant to think Karate comes from america??? I cant't imagin that...

  • free tibet

  • Does anyone know when the wushu competition will be????

  • I am not sure But I hope its soon

  • It was announced to start on August 21 2008 all the way through august 24

  • damn!

  • i want wushu to be an olympic sport!! yet its beauty lies in the fact that wushu is way too complicated to evaluate and practice to be in the olympics

  • awesome wooo!!!!

  • Love the art and the dedication required to become great at it.

  • wow great.very powerful.

  • nice nice

  • Hey everyone I tried one of them and it works great! Hey everyone I got it from their website,, just search goolge for martialarm! it seems like a Martial Arts Better Than BOB Machine It will be good for jeet kune do and trapping hands

  • doesn't the host country get to choose a sport or two and china actually chose NOT to feature wushu?
