@officialdollface14 part of it has to do with the fact that the technology in 1999 is far less advanced than the technology of 2012. the other thing is that VEVO a) is too lazy to simply raise the contrast/exposure in this video and b) they're too busy trying to keep up with current "artists" like Chris Brown or Pitbull or whoever's video is being advertised underneath this one. Aaliyah probably isn't the only singer with videos of this quality on VEVO.
