Very masterful use of the Neo Geo sound hardware. Especially the percussion, the bellowing echoes, and buzzing synth lead. It's amazing to hear something so atmospheric and well programmed out of such an early game in the Neo Geo's history.

you can buy a copy of the Neo-Geo cd-rom version on ebay for like $15 and then just put the disc in your dvd drive and give all the tracks a little bit of volume boost, snip off the 7 seconds of silence at the end of each track, and burn to cd-R. just remember to delete Track 1 from the list because it only has the video data and unaccesible sound effects stored on it.

i only heard about the game a few years ago whilst i was buying my AES, and soon as i saw it i was dazzled, this song one of the greatest game songs ever along with the game LONG LIVE SNK!!! :) <3

I love the 'airy' synth sample repeated throughout the song, it gives the feeling of wind blowing against Elta as he starts this journey

I love the neo geo games and magician lord is one of the first that i played as a kid in the arcades. Long after i forgot the what the stages were like, i still remembered the game music and especially the 1st stage music-which i have always thought of as the magician lord "theme". At the time a game that was 46 megs was unheard of---the neo geo was very much ahead of its time.

Awsome music. On the SNK PS2 colection they loop the 3 1st bars 3 times to extend it but I prefer the arcade original. I enjoy listioning to this with a pipe(tobbacco) on a cool UK night.

Ditto. Is it what most people who've played/seen the game remember most about it. I know it was the case with me. I first saw this game on "Nick Arcade"'s Video Challenge back in the mid-1990's, and ever since then this song has stuck with me. And it was YEARS before I actually got to play the game! Unfortunately, the game's so damn difficult that many people probably had trouble just beating the 1st stage!
