I have been danceing fore 9 years and i start highschool next year. i was wonderine if cheerleading is somthing that would be easy to do because of my dance traneing?
My toe touches are okay... I'm not flexible, at all. :( Which makes me sad, but they still LOOK good; I point my toes and hit my T and everything. Even got it all on camera. They just don't FEEL good.. Do you have any tips to improve flexibility? I'm 17, and I know once you pass a certain age then you're kind of a lost cause. But is there ANY way to improve flexibility? I can't even get a simple split. :'(
@xxGRRxx92 im kinda late but there are some videos on youtube on how to improve flexibility! you just need to stretch your legs a lot every day and you'll eventually improve!

@finaldestinationkish yes. that is plent of time. it will take pracitice and working on your leg strength, hip strength and flexibility. do you have any video of yourself that can be seen on youtube for evaluation and suggestions.
@finaldestinationkish your jumps will get better with practice:) i learned my robhs in 3.5 months. i also went to a gym for 4 hours a week to learn it. learn your standing BHS before your ROBHS so you know you will have enough power.:) good luck

ok i need help i was a cheerleader for seven and a half years, then when i tried out for high school cheer i didn't make it my run in contained two toe touches, and a cartwheel, round off, back hand spring, back tuck, back full combo,what else should i do to make it next year
@missymarissalenay Hello Missy. That run is pretty impressive. Without seeing you, I would think anyone that could do that would make the team easily. Can you tell me more about how you are training and what you might need work on.
@myosource well i was in gymnastics for a month but everything they were teaching us i already knew hjow to do so i would show up early and just goof around and i finally was able to do a back tuck, so when i was comforitable enough with it i tried doing a back full, it was hard at first but i finally got it. so everything i know how to do i taught myself how to do it, and i am no longer in gymnastics

Don't think rotate so much, it confused me when I was trying to get mine hyper-extended. Think more that you wanna lift your legs with your ABS. Don't squeeze your butt when your doing it and that'll let your legs fly higher. some bands like these will also create muscule memory, so you will always try harder if you practice with these every practice just as much without them.
if I understand you. by rotate, do you mean bend or try to wind up. higher quality jumps come from being strong enough to explode off the floor in a naturanl position. the bands create muscle memory the first couple of time you use them , but you will start to develop core strength which basically replaces the muscles memory as real muscle development. you should do the jumps with and without the bands you you will improve greatly.
I JUST got out of practice and half of my jump time is with the bands these days. They DO help. But what I was saying is that for me at least the bands help make you think not resistance in the glute so your legs can fly higher. ABS then come into play by having your shoulders back and stomach tight so your legs can also go in front of you for a more visual aspect of the skill. Thats how I've been working it. :)
Yes I agree. The back and shoulders need to be directly or close to direct above your glutes and hips. this is how you generate power and are able to explode upward. if you bend forward and or have weak abs, you are already starting deceleration before you leave the floor.
you can look at this video and some other we have and work on the drills shown to help build strength in your hips, things, hams strings and gluteus. building strength will help with your jumps.
