the good thing about this video is at least the CAF doesn't suffer any loss from it. the CT-156 Hawk used here is a 'leased' aircraft. bombardier is the ones who suffer. good thing they got out. Moose Jaw airspace is always filled with damn birds. Alot of it has to come from Old Wives Lake and Chaplin Lake nature refuges.
there was also another crash about a month ago it was a tutor this time though. they think the photographer in the other sat hit the stick when he was sick and they didn't have time to eject.Both of the pilots were good friends of our familey... may they R.I.P.
@RipperSB yes i know i was wrong, the pilot was looking at the snobirds while he was taking a picture and flew into the ground.. the comment was posted 2 years ago when the crash happend and nobody knew what happend, not even my dad who was the one that picked up the plane.

They did not ingest a bird... it was a moose jaw that got sucked into the engine. A hunter on the ground shot a moose and blew its jaw clean off it's head and into the sky right in front of this jet.
@spadeswings their are more seagulls than you can shake a stick at out here, flying rats pretty much anywere their is lots of littered food or any garbage dump is over run with the fuckin things
Very calm. You can see the bird at the 0:05 mark. "D6-ML" is code for zero engine RPM. He tried to restart the engine twice, and when it didn't work, pointed toward an unpopulated area, notified by radio, and ejected.
It is a CT-155 Hawk in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. The accident happened 14 May 2004. Aircraft Occurrence Summary can be found at the Canadian Forces Directorate of Flight Safety website.
It must me crazy trying to stay calm in that situation

Not "ER not done".

"T6 NL"... "ER not done".
I thought it was "gear not down" at first, but it's "ER not done". "Engine Restart not done" perhaps? T6 NL is beyond me though.

@tannalv T6 = engine overtemp / NL = low engine RPM

Right before the problem occurs, something flies into the front lower left of the aircraft. Looks like it could be a bird strike.
