Think of it this way. The more popular a band becomes, the more demanding the label becomes.

The more people start to listen without listening. They listen only because

their friends do, or because a single is looped on the radio ad-nauseum.

As long as the band is playing shows, making good money.

& has control over their material this makes for nice music.

Once the sharks get into the mix it is all downhill.
